Breakfast great. Sheets were clean. Staff was friendly. Fireplace was lovely. Location is wonderful.
Bathtub had dirty soap scum ring, ( manager really did not want to listen) bath towel had long black hair, teapot handle was greasy, someone’s medication was on the floor, heater made noise coming on, hence little sleep, view from window appeared to be a messy open shed area. I have stayed there numerous times in the past-have always left a tip for housekeeping, but this time I did not.

Lovely hotel in center of Wells
We were put up in an outbuilding in the car park by the staff accommodation. Steep stairs to room

Curtain falling of its rail. Poor parking facilities. No assistance from staff to direct us to a secure parking offsite.

Nice traditional hotel in a perfect location in the city of Wells. Great views of the cathedral and near some great restaurants. Plenty of parking. Large comfortable room. Friendly staff. Great bar with excellent cocktails which can be enjoyed in the lovely private garden over the street facing the cathedral. Will certainly book again for next trip to Wells.
Our room was nice, big and really comfortable, but was in a rather ugly outbuilding. The car park is big, but the access is very tight especially for large vehicles. Fortunately, we have a small SUV so we got in and out ok. There were Range Rovers and Teslas in there but I would image it was a squeeze. Other than that, we had a great stay.

The room was lovely, the breakfasts great. Best of all were the fantastic staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them from the Receptionist to the dining room staff and the manager. They were professional and friendly.
There were no laundry facilities which was a surprise and disappointment.
Sometimes the staff were so keen to do things they didn't always listen to what was required. But they put things right immediately which was good.

Decor, Facilities, Location and Breakfast and Lunch was very tasty and high quality.
A lot of steps to the rooms for my elderly parents. No lift. Did not realise when booking. Is it called out in the property advertising ?

It is always a pleasure to come back to Wells and to the Swan hotel. We visit quite regularly, and the Swan always offers a welcoming and homely atmosphere.
Staff is very attentive, always kind and helpful.
Rooms are all different and unique. We particularly like the coach house, where some of the original architectural features are still visible.
The new manager, Martin, is very friendly and went the extra mile to make sure our stay was enjoyable from start to finish.
We can't wait to be back 🙂

An absolute gem of a hotel. My wife and I stayed in the Cathedral Suite and it was stunning! So much so that she cried when we went in. I've never stayed anywhere like it. The room was huge and bathroom beautiful. The view of the cathedral was spectacular. Genuinely felt like royalty (especially with its history). Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good

Breakfast was as expected. Afternoon tea was good.
The location was excellent. Unfortunately the room we occupied was at the front overlooking the main road which was noisy and disturbed sleep.

The feel of the place was very warm and welcoming. Our bedroom was lovely. Very clean and comfortable. The age of it all was fascinating with lots of hidden and surprising areas outside. The outlook to the cathedral was stunning with a really pretty garden to relax or eat in. The hotel was a stone’s throw from the Bishop’s Palace, the market square and the cathedral. It was good to have parking. We didn’t need to use the car at all.
The bedroom, although lovely, was like a hothouse. Only one of the 2 windows would open about 4 inches.
The lounge was not inviting or very comfortable.

Room was excellent and the hotel was in the centre of Wells so everywhere was walkable. We had a lovely view across the green to the Cathedral. Very clean and tidy.
Car parking is very tight on access something not stated anywhere on the information. We had to move our car early the following morning because maintenance was being carried out on the kitchen, which was inconvenient. Staff were OK on Reception but not very helpful when we tried to book a table for an evening meal implying they had a large party due in and they couldn't get us in around the time we were looking for. Therefore we found a delightful bistro just up the road. Breakfast was average.

Behind the wall in Room 21 you can hear water flowing and a bang as the water turns off. This occurs 24 hours a day. We did report it.
Otherwise the hotel is lovely.

perfect central location with views to the cathedral a lovely old coaching inn
minor issue the TV wasn’t operational and was unable to be repaired, a complementary bottle of wine was offered as compensation, very nice gesture

Our room was larger than expected and looked as though it had been newly decorated. The location is excellent within walking distance of Wells Cathedral and The Bishops Palace. Car parking is a bonus if you can get a space.
The Hotel probably needs more staff. The ones at the time of our stay did a brilliant job but it seemed they could do with extra pairs of hands. Some of the food orders took longer to be served and the tables could have been cleared more quickly. This is not a criticism of the staff but merely an observation.
