Location excellent
I think its because i heard a lot about this hotel i had high expectations. Lobby staff were lovely but i had a few complaints and still havnt heard back from them. My room heating wasnt working they gave me a heater but it was sparking . No hair dryer in the room had to.call for one
No remote had to call for one. Room hadnt been hoovered from previous people and the big mirror was also faulty with the light which was sparking. The staff are friendly but like i.said still havnt heard back i shouldnt have to keep calling and chasing. Location was brilliant close to the train and the shopping centre. View from room was lovely. They did upgrade me but the room wasnt up to par. Room has been upgraded to a good standard if all 0ther things are fixed its well worth the money. Also when u call no one ever picks up at reception
I think i named them all.

room & location was excellent for ease of getting around.

Rooms were well appointed, lovely bed, good tv. Restaurant was good too. Nice coffee shop on ground floor. Very convenient for rail station.
Perhaps the paintwork could do with a refresh. Looked like it only had a minimal coat of paint which was badly scraped.
Rooms at the back of hotel overlooking the major works to front of rail station disturbed by the early morning commencement of work (6am) Cranes moving, lots of shouting, banging, lorries going in and out

Staff were really helpful
Many thanks to the housekeeping staff on floor 5 were lovely to chat to as I went down and back for breakfast

It’s lovely art deco style
The fact that if you ring reception or house keeping from your room they don’t answer. Two staff members working in the bar area both had the most dreadful and off putting Body odour not pleasant.

When we arrived we were upgraded to a King Suite which was amazing. The staff were extremely helpful and the overall experience is one which we can’t wait to experience again.
Going home!

Room was ok. Bed good. Bathroom no good at all. Poor shower facility. Cleanliness very poor. Hair all over the shower walls on first use. Ladies. Not good. Staff was nice, Great location at the rail station. But overall this place is tired and needs soem TLC. At best an £85 per night facility.
See above.

I had a delightful day stay at this hotel, which has a unique and charming character. Its location in the city centre is unbeatable, making exploring easy. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
All good

On discovering that I had medical needs, the receptionist very kindly immediately gave us a larger room to help give room to my medical equipment etc. Beautiful art decor, friendly staff but falling apart behind the scenes.
However a very clean and very friendly hotel. Trying very hard to be luxury status. Where has the uniformed door person gone?
Old warped windows didn’t close fully so very drafty despite secondary double glazing. I got horrible earache after our first night because of the constant wind blowing through the window next to the bed, despite curtains drawn.
Having neck and head cancer, I had to get medical advice on the pain caused which lasted two days. We Had to move rooms because of this. The handy person trying to fix our window but couldn’t , took charge of our room move and upgraded our room! No sign of any help from concierges at this point despite request to help with our bags and a note kept on reception about my medical needs. We repacked and moved ourselves.
All Toiletries are fixed using brackets to the walls of the bathroom; like you find in budget hotels - this was a let down. I don’t like toiletries that have been used by other people before me!
Not enough supplies - only 2 sachets of everything e.g. tea. Terrible cheap uht milk in small single portions. We had to keep asking for top-ups (but fresh milk was given on request). In both rooms the refrigerators were totally useless and couldn’t be adjusted, so fresh milk had to be used quickly. They couldn’t transfer movie packages bought between rooms when we moved.
Just disappointed with the ‘little touches’ expected with a hotel that is obviously improving still. Got fed up of having to keep ‘asking’.

The room was comfortable and a good size. It had all the basics covered. The only thing that failed was the TV for some odd reason (these things happen)
The breakfast room is a bit in personal, but the staff were friendly.

Great central location.
Room was very scruffy. Walls need a good paint, and shower screen roller wheels were broken. Wasn’t good value for money in my opinion and room/facility pics were nothing like what we experienced

Lovely hotel in a great location, helpful & pleasant staff. Very comfortable rooms.
The breakfast is basic for a 4 star hotel, perfectly edible but limited choices, the coffee is terrible.

Beautiful building, staff were very friendly and professional. We booked a table at the restaurant and the meal was fantastic, good quality of food and drink, and we was given a little token for our anniversary.
This is the second time we have stayed. Our room was a little smaller than the last room we had. The bedding was clean and fresh, and we had a good night's sleep. We stayed in room 704, their was no large mirror in the room once you were changed, so you couldn't really check yourself out before going out, it had large cobwebs in the corners on the walls, and the shower tray was very dirty and discoloured. It had a noticeable yellow stain on it and just looked like it had never been cleaned.
We didn’t complain at the as the chap on the desk was very busy and we didn't have time to hang around.

Bedside lamp did not work

The room was advertised as a small double, but to be honest it was plenty big enough for a few nights stay. The only small part of the room was the bathroom. The bedroom was clean and had everything needed for a short city break. Location is excellent, and the staff were all very friendly and professional. Had a very long wait at check in...... but there were computer glitches and the staff remained calm and helpful.
The shower in the en suite was very small and smelled a bit fusty at first. My husband would have never managed in such a small cubicle. Not a deal breaker though.
The room was a bit expensive for one person....but I knew that when I booked it!
My main disappointment was breakfast, which had the poorest and cheapest selection of choice on the cold buffet that I have seen. I don't eat a fried/English breakfast so I didn't even look at that....it may have been better. I would have had one of the choices "from the kitchen"....but not at approximately £8 extra. Cheeky!! A poor breakfast is, for me, a deal breaker.

Great location, it had still kept the vintage feel with a modern twist.
The towel radiator was way too hot, burnt when touched.

Reception staff so welcoming and friendly! Lovely hotel!!!

Reception staff were amazing and we were upgraded to a Junior suite which was extremely comfortable.
The bar was very busy and there didn't seem to be enough staff on. Also they didn't seem sure of what they were doing as we were left waiting for drinks.

I liked the location and breakfast I liked the staff they were friendly. The room service nachos were seriously delicious
The room upgrade wasn't to a brilliant room with a fully stocked fridge. The room service didn't finish the call when we called and so we had to go down to get the food and drinks.
