It was very clean and the staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel looked nice and was in a good position.
The breakfast was disappointing. Little choice of cereal and fruit and no nuts seeds or cold meats or cheese. The eggs were undercooked. Both the poached and fried eggs and my scrambled eggs were too wet and made the toast soggy. Offers were made to replace, but l didn't bother. We booked in January. We paid one third more. The prices advertised while we were there had reduced by a third and I therefore felt somewhat annoyed that we'd wasted nearly £200! Receiving an email a week before our visit asking for early payment was also worrying.

It was very good location. The cooked breakfast was a normal size, not sure if we could ask for extra. Fruit and perhaps some pastries would of been good to be available. Staff were very pleasant and informative.
See above.

Location great, John the general manager was really lovely, chatty and super helpful.
Pool could have been warmer, too cold to swim in & bathroom window would not shut properly
3.5
-The location was amazing - right by the sea side and near the train station.
- cleaning staff were perfect.
- water at the pool was cold.
- When we arrive, staff were really warm and welcoming. Then a coach arrives and the reception staff got less charming..and the breakfast services got poor. We had to help ourselves to find the cutlery, serviette. And we got moved to a table in a very dark room without warning. No sea view at breakfast any more!

This was my second stay at the Channel View Hotel. After a brief overnight stay in 2023, I knew what to expect and opted for a longer stay this time. As before, I received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a comfortable room that was spotlessly clean and kept nice and warm, considering the weather. The breakfast in the morning was very good and the staff couldn't have been nicer, always willing to offer help when needed.
Location wise, this ranks among the best in Shanklin, as it overlooks the esplanade and the front-facing rooms have an incredible panoramic view across Sandown Bay, which is arguably one of the best views on the Island. You are a short walk from the beach, the Old Village and the town, so everything is within easy reach.
The only thing that would have improved the stay was the weather being better, but that is clearly outside the control of the hotel!
4.5
The Breakfast was superb ,with every ingredient perfectly cooked
Everything was good there was nothing to dislike and whilst we didn’t use them we were surprised by the beautiful swimming pool ,the sizeable well shaped functions room and the full and complete full sized bar.

There was a generator outside our window which kept us awake must of the night.
Dated decor and small dated shower.

Every thing couldn’t complain.

Lovely staff, Fab breakfast and facilities including an indoor swimming pool and sauna. Great location overlooking shanklin Beach.
There wasn’t much we didn’t like, the only things we found was the double bed was on the small size for us and the bath was quite short so couldn’t lay down very comfortably and I am only 5ft 6 so tall people might struggle!
4.5
Nicely situated close to the seafront.

We had a very comfortable stay. Location was easy access to public transpo. You can book a taxi from the reception as well. The shanklin beach is just 2mins walk. Train station is 8mins walk. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Food was great but not lots of choices. Indoor pool could’ve been warmer.
4.5
Breakfast was excellent. The room very comfortable and we enjoyed a swim in the pool. All the staff were pleasant and welcoming.
We were there to celebrate a birthday and the first thing we did on arrival was to ask about the evening menu. The Booking .com website mentions evening meals but does not specify that the restaurant was closed in January. It would have been better if we had been told about this.

The view and location was great. The staff was very polite and friendly. They were very professional. Breakfast was 10/10. It was the top part of our stay.
The bathroom was very small. We found it very hard to shower. We wanted to have dinner but due to the time of year, the restaurant was close.
3.5
Great breakfast was served each morning. Also, there was a very nice swimming pool with a sauna. We really enjoyed it. Furthermore, the location is perfect, right next to the sea.
Internet was not present in the room - a big minus, as this was one of the main reasons we came to this hotel. Also room was quite small, but still cozy
3.5
Location of the hotel right on the cliffside and a 10 minute walk to the town centre
Good Breakfast Options
Swimming pool was available though we never used.
The twin room was nice & large
My single room was quite small and very stuffy, on entering found to be very hot even after turning off all the radiators and opening the windows (partly my mistake as I didn't spot the fan provided in the bottom of the wardrobe).
Upon check in we was unable to get a drink at the Bar due to lack of Staff which was a shame.

Lovel hotel, really friendly efficient staff.
Minor issues. Room a bit small and steep rise to drag cases up from car park

Fab location
Initially room was not up to spec, but we were moved 2nd day. On searching for plug socket next to bed i pulled out side chest of drawers, lots of debris. Understand that there is limited time through changeovers but the debris had clearly been there sometime. My father had a fall in the overspill car park due to the uneven ground, he had cuts to his chest, hands and knees, staff did provide plasters but really it should have been written in accident book, I think this was down to staff not being effectively trained.
On a positive the staff are super friendly and the swimming pool is a fantastic edition to the hotel. Breakfast was equally plentiful and of excellent quality.
Despite my comments we had a lovely time and I would recommend.

I do not know. Booking.com booked us on the wrong day… not the day on our confirmation letter. The hotel staff were very nice, but it seems Booking.com often makes these mistakes
We were found alternative accommodation by the hotel. They were very helpful.
However we were very disappointed, and the alternative hotel actually cost a little more too!
4.0
Friendly staff, good location.
The shower was a bit inconsistent. Kept going hot and cold.
2.5
The location was great. The hotel is tired and needs a good update. Although it was clean, the decor and bathrooms were obviously old and needed attention.
The staff at breakfast were non-attentive. The food at breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about. The beds were lumpy and the pillows were hard. Duvets were thick and heavy. Summer duvets would have been better. The water pressure was poor so showering wasn't good and the toilet took ages to fill. Wouldn't say the staff were that bothered about guests, not many smiles or engagement on entering or coming back in. Felt like it ran on a few people. Everything about the decor was very dated even though it looked like it had been redecorated. Someone with an eye for detail would be beneficial!

The location was perfect, great staff, friendly and helpful l. Enjoyed the breakfast l.
The WiFi wouldn't work, and our signal reception wasn't the best.

Good breakfast, great location, comfortable room, Wi-fi generally good.
Nothing significant

The breakfast was lovely with a big selection of items, the location is fantastic, right near the beach
The wifi was hit and miss

I thought the breakfast was excellent. The poached eggs were perfect and the kitchen accommodated my request for something off the menu. The cereal and juices choices was very good, and the dining area was bright and clean. There was obviously some staff training being done during service, but overall the dining experience was good.
The tables were well laid out with milk jugs ready for cereals and hot drinks (nice touch).
The rooms were too hot and the windows could have been opened to air the room, before our arrival, to let some of the heat out. An electric fan could have been provided in the room too. The pool area was clean, safe and well-maintained.
The hotel was generally clean and well-presented. It would have been nice if the bar had stayed open until 11pm (it was closed when we arrived back after an evening out at 22:10).

The breakfast and the staff who served it was excellent The rooms where clean and comfortable
The staff behind reception one elderly lady in particular was quite rude The rooms and parts of the Hotel where shabby in places and really need updating The wifi is awful so if you rely on it do not go to this hotel The parking can also be bad
3.0
Great location, friendly staff, big room, swimming pool, and free EV charging point (1) could give this place 5*. Sadly, after taking away stars for inconveniences, the score rapidly goes down.
Extremely squeeky floors, bad smell throughout the hotel, very outdated, especially the bathroom. Place in a desperate need of refurbishment. The dining room is the nicest place, but, oddly enough, dinner wasn't available on Sunday.
4.5
Sea view from room (requested) was lovely and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Car parking outside. Close to seafront which was lovely for sea bathing, fun stuff for kids and good restaurants. We also walked up to the old town for old restaurants with thatched roofs. The entertainment in the hotel one night was great fun with a singer called Simon Howard. You can walk the coast to Sandown and back along cliffs. Great walking routes all around the island.
We loved the hotel but it should be recognised that it is three star and that where your expectations should be. Shanklin is on a cliff and so there can be steep climbs and stairs including up to the hotel but there is an accessible path round from the right hand side as you look at it.
2.5
Location is nice and views are nice if you pay extra for seaview room. The room that was sold to us as “partial sea view” had, however, 100% of parking lot view and no sea was there.
Breakfast was very poor and not tasty. Coffee is awful and you can’t buy normal coffee there, too, before noon! I’ve booked a room with a bathtub using a filter “bathtub” and got a shower. It was important as I was with a toddler who still uses diapers and has to be washed up often, and she is afraid of shower. The reception people were not even apologizing and told me some rooms have shower some bathtubs and things happen. Though they just lied in description and sold me the room that does not exist. They did not change the room, too. Next day they refused to take the backpacks of our group and suitcases of other people to store, as they already had some luggage stored. I pointed there’s plenty of space in the storage room, and they took luggage, but were very unhappy.
