Location was wonderful on the edge of Dartmoor, staff were friendly and fun and the food excellent, the room really lovely. We really felt the love of the staff for their beautiful historic building and their customer service.
Really nothing, we just needed twice as long to enjoy everything even more!

The owners and staff were so welcoming and helpful. Food was fantastic. This place is a reel gem with so much history can't rate it highly enough and I've been in hospitality for over 30 years.

Breakfast was great.
The shower is old and makes a terrible noise.

We felt really comfortable here. The food was excellent, the room was so comfortable and well thought out. Big fluffy towels and tea/coffee and biscuits in the room!
The dining-in was so cosy, why go out?
Thank you for a great overnight stay.
Next time we'll look at the garden!
Breakfast also very good.
Everything was really good. No complaints at all.

We really enjoyed the peaceful feeling and the very friendly staff. Our meals were very tasty and there was a good variety of Gluten and dairy free options.
J D(John) was always available to share stories and ask/answer questions, made us feel very much at home.

You cannot find a more classic beamed place. Gorgeous. Cozy bar, friendly bar. Ask to see the barkeeper’s boat.

Early booking required for restaurant. Although eating in the bar area was fine too.

Food at the hotel was great, breakfast was really nice. the position of the hotel is very good for visiting the moors and National Trust places. We also loved the history of the hotel and its age.
The staff are lovely and Lyn makes you feel very welcome. The garden is great for enjoying a drink and relaxing.
Not sure really, we had a lovely time. It does help when the weather is amazing.

A history trip in its own right
limited parking outside but enough a few minutes walk away

The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was first class, both breakfast and dinner. The age of the hotel was fascinating, with many quirky features. Lovely gardens, even in the rain.
The plumbing was a bit primitive. We were warned that the hot water would take a minute to come through. The room was also a bit small. But in a 13th century building that should not have been a great surprise.

The location was perfect for what we needed for 1 night. The breakfast was lovely
he couple that run the hotel. The gentleman that received us when we arrived was lovely very welcoming and showed us to our room which I have to say was lovely, and the hotel itself was just lovely. Good menu and wine and the food was delicious
The lady that run the hotel with her husband was quite rude and abrupt. My friends phone went off and she remarked we don't have use of phones in here and asked her to go outside which she did promptly. It would have been much better if they had a notice displaying this requirement. We met a nice couple and we were chatting to them and she kept asking us to be quiet as we would wake her guests. We are in our sixties and really felt uncomfortable as we are not rowdy people, we were just having a nice chat with some nice people

Location was good Beautful location in small village on Dartmoor. Hotel was charming - very old with standing stones built into the wall. Food was average.

We loved the location, which meant we could go for a lovely walk straight from the hotel. The old, historical building was very interesting and our room beautiful. The food and service in the restaurant for dinner were excellent - eating in the Snug by the roaring fire was lovely.
The only thing which could have been improved was the temperature of the bathroom - very chilly (but it was February!). Everything else great.

My husband and I spent two nights in this wonderful historic building. Lyn and Simon are the perfect hosts, they both went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We ate in the hotel both evenings and the food was excellent, the breakfast was also very tasty. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. A fantastic stay - we will definitely be returning, thank you!
