Charming historical venue composed of interconnected ensuite rooms in a traditional Kandyan style. From the pool patio through the garden to the dining terrace overlooking the beautiful jungle around, ambiences alternate between beautiful decorated interiors full of memories, antiques and thoughtful colour harmonies. The natural air circulation allows for non-A/C rooms to be comfortable in a smart sustainable manner providing the night temperatures remain in the 20-25°C range as most of the year in Kandy. Breakfast over the canopy from the wooden terrace sets the tone for any great day of exploration. Bhathyia and Suzy have a substantial experience in accommodating guests from all horizons in a homely manner, ready to provide information about possible activities nearby and cater for breakfast, lunch and dinner requests. The two addictively friendly Labradors are adding to the picture, eager to greet newcomers.
Access from the main road is straightforward and just a few hundred meters away from the main road at the end of a private driveway guaranteeing peace and exclusivity of nature sounds.

I stayed in a cottage that surrounds the garden. The other rooms I saw were very nice and furnished with lovely antique furniture. The dining room faces the jungle and has a beautiful view. I could hear birds singing in the morning and the stars were so beautiful at night. I also took a cooking class with Suzy and the food was very delicious.

Ein wunderschönes Haus bei ganz besonders herzlichen Gastgebern. Wirklich ein magischer Ort mitten im Dschungel abseits des Stadttrubels und dennoch gut gelegen.

The Kandyan Manor is truly the most perfect homestay we have ever visited. From the moment we entered, we were greeted by a loving and heavenly atmosphere. The surrounding area was beautiful and gave us an instant feeling of tranquility. The well-maintained garden and accessible 24/7 pool added to the charm of the place.
We booked two cute chalets, which provided us with a homely feeling. The rooms were cozy, clean, and tastefully decorated. I was lucky to get a colorful room that exuded a calming and relaxing vibe. I couldn't help but fall in love with this amazing place.
The owners of the homestay were incredibly supportive and kind. Their hospitality was beyond perfect, and they took care of every single thing, ensuring that we had a worry-free stay. Their attention to detail was heartwarming and made us feel like valued guests. The hosts made us feel like a part of their family.
Suzy, the loveliest chef at Kandyan Manor, was absolutely amazing. Every dish she cooked was a heavenly experience. The flavors and presentation were top-notch, and we indulged in the delicious food. The dinner we had was superb, and the breakfast included in our package was equally delightful. Even the thought of it now makes my mouth water.
To add to the homely atmosphere, there were two adorable fur babies at the homestay. They were loving and playful, always bringing smiles to our faces. Their presence made us feel even more at home.
We had a fantastic weekend at the Kandyan Manor, creating countless memories. We have already fallen in love with this place and are already planning our next visit. It truly is the ideal escape from our busy lives, offering a peaceful and rejuvenating experience.
A special thanks to Suzy for sharing her delightful caramel cake, which she baked with love. The stay was excellent and exceptional in every aspect. It felt like being in Eden, surrounded by beauty and warmth.
We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. & Mrs.

Kandyan Manor was the perfect homestay! We had one of the rooms in the house which was spacious and cool at night. Suzy and B were fantastic hosts - very attentive but also gave you your own space. We loved chilling out on the veranda which was the perfect place to escape the afternoon storms.
The manor is outside of town which wasn’t a problem for us and we really enjoyed the peace away from the busy city but tuk tuks sometimes struggled to find the manor so make sure you use the instructions from Suzy and B on how to reach it.

It's a beautiful old walawwa (Sri Lankan manor house) perched on a hilltop. There are rooms in the main house and cottages in the garden. Meals are served in an attractive open-sided structure with views. The food is excellent, prepared by the hostess Suzy; lunch and dinner can be ordered. The hosts are delightful, attentive and knowledgeable. An experience of the wonderful old Sri Lanka that can easily be missed by tourists.
The place is very peaceful except for a neighbour's dog. The main house is far enough away for it not to be a problem. It's difficult to find: you turn into Polwatta Road expecting, from the Google map, to find it on the right. But it's some way up a steep drive with no sign.

We had an excellent stay, and Suzy and her husband “B” were fantastic hosts. This is a very special property that is beautifully decorated with unique furnishings. The property is a short bus or Tuk Tuk ride from town. The food was delicious, and Suzy’s cooking class was a highlight of our trip. The dining area is in a lush tropical jungle-like setting. Suzy and “B” helped with travel details and gave excellent suggestions on what to do around the area. We highly recommend Kandyan Manor Home Stay!

Very nice breakfast with a huge variety and delicious local dinner.
Wonderful, warm outdoor shower with real water pressure - a feast for showering ;-)
Nice garden and terrace which overviews a tropical rainforest - relaxing
Collector´s home with thousands of small collective items standing around.
Quite far from the city center of Kandy.
Old chalets which are quite smelly due to the tropical climate and humidity and unfortunately also not very clean.

Susie and B’s home is quite simply remarkable. A maze of nook and crannies that you could quite easily spend your days in without ever visiting Kandy! That being said they are the perfect distance for easily heading into the city whilst also enjoying the serenity of Sri Lanka. The food was excellent, rooms stunning, the family feel brilliant and our overall stay couldn’t have been better. A must book if your visiting Kandy!

Owners were very friendly, the location was stunning and the experience was overall very relaxing (which is exactly what I was there for in the first place). Would definitely recommend!! Thank you

Suzy, Bhathitya and the whole family were AMAZING.
We stayed for 2 nights and it was an unforgettable experience. We took part in a cooking class which was a highlight and they surprised us with a homemade cake for my girlfriends birthday.
The other staff, driver and waitress were super friendly, smiley and always on hand. We stayed in the huts in the back of the site and the WiFi connection was strong enough to work from.
We’d definitely stay again and have already recommended to friends and finally.
Thanks again!

Hosts are very friendly, and Suzy prepares great food - especially the dinner! The property is large and peaceful, and has a wonderful pool and garden to enjoy.
Nothing, really. The location on google maps is wrong, be sure to follow the hosts guidance instead.

The family were so lovely and helpful and the place is utterly stunning. I was very happy there and was just what I needed. It's basically in the jungle, so I saw a snake, otters, gekkos, flying squirrels, beautiful birds and many others just relaxing and working in the beautiful restaurant. It's really magical and heavenly there!
I think maybe it was more expensive as it was over a bank holiday...so that and my meals, plus the service charge and 3% card usage really added up at the end. The WiFi only worked in certain places and I had a good few deadlines and late night calls, some of which weren't really possible while there, or I had to sit with mosquito bites to be able to use it. The other thing I am still confused about is the advise I had about getting a taxi half way from Kandy to Ella as it would save me time seeing as I had so much work to do and looming deadlines. It would have cost me the equivalent of about £50 and I since found out that from Nanu Oya where the taxi would have dropped me off, it's where the train journey gets foggy and the best bits are missed. I also figured, it would not have saved me any time at all. I had stuck around Kandy for about 10 days waiting on the perfect time to so this journey in its entirety, so a little perplexed by that advise.

The hospitality was great. Friendly atmosphere and had the best SriLankan hospitality experience ever.

Very tranquil and remote location out of Kandy. We stayed in an outside hut, which was nice but there are bugs all over the place. Which is to be expected, because the room is partly outside. But bare in mind if that bothers you.
Hosts are lovey and breakfast was great.
We were kept awake by a party next door, but I’m sure that’s a one off.
4.5
A spacious and welcoming homestay with a large and comfortable bedroom. An excellent and practical protection mosquito net over bed. A beautiful garden to look out on. Meals were enjoyed from an open, raised separate dining area looking out onto the homestay's own interesting and diverse mini tropical forest, with an interesting array of wild animals and birds to watch from the breakfast table. The family treated us guests as one of their own and although we hadn't booked dinner one night and were late back, were willing to cook something 'off the menu' for us.
The building is old so, with some understanding, the bathroom amenities were rather old fashioned, but clean.

Beautiful garden, very peaceful and relaxing. Nice pool and good food. Fabulous breakfast, we even had a cake for my Dad birthday. Thank a lot Suzie!
