Our budget room was above the bar so we had some lovely jazz until around 11pm which was not at all disruptive. The room was recently renovated and we were in Room 9 which is right next to the shared bathroom (no sounds through the shared walls). Breakfast was continental style from the kitchen on the same floor and had loads of bread for toast, condiments, full cooking facilities.
No coat hangers in the room. No room in the bedroom to hang our towels (lucky we only stayed the one night) and we didn't feel hanging these in a communal bathroom was appropriate. Not enough mugs for tea but that's being very picky!

Gorgeous building in quiet residential area. We organized our late arrival with them and they allowed us to order before the kitchen closed for the night, which was very much appreciated. The food was excellent. We didn’t have breakfast because we made an early start but there was plenty to choose from. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable right away. The building has been renovated extensively, and our room was very modern. I was expecting rooms that were dusty and creaky (which I also like) but it was definitely not that. It was so clean we felt like the first guests to stay.
The walls are quite thin so we could hear people in the next room coming and going all night, but it’s an old building so that’s understandable.

Great location and good pub style accommodation.
My room didn’t have a wardrobe but a clothes rack would have been useful.

Great location -- easy access by foot to the centre and to Sandy Bay; good views of the river; very pleasant neighbourhood, with excellent cafes. Nice room. And the shared facilities were much better than expected.

Beautiful spot, short walk down to the water. Interesting old houses and streets. Pub food was delicious and vibe was nice.
Paying for sides that didnt come out with rest of meal and bar staff said didn't get ordered.
Quite noisy at night time.

Everything was clean as well. Great location too.

The location was perfect, staff were excellent and helpful. Onsite bar was a local watering hole - great ambience

The location is great. You can walk to Salamanca and other restaurants in Battery Point
Hotel is not for everyone as it is above the pub. I am not sure if there enough bathrooms for all guests as I had to wait almost everytime.

Lovely hotel in the prettiest area of hobart with the loveliest staff. Would recommend 10/10

Great location, quiet upstairs rooms, handy having restaurant and bar to meet people at. Also a generous supply of tea and coffee making stuff.
The breakkie area was a little adhoc.

The Shippies has it all: location, service, charm, ease, price and quality. The Shippies offers a Hobart experience - there is a sense that one is anchored in a safe warm harbour, and just beyond, at the end of the street, is the great vast south. Hand ye flipper for a shake at the Shippies, ye won't be disappointed.
Nothing to not like.

Andy, who did the check-in, was very friendly, professional and helpful. The location, in Battery Point, was charming, and had beautiful views. It was very easy to get around my foot too.

dont eat breakfast.
loved the family suite, recently renovated so the Spanish barman told me.
Great bathroom too.
VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT
NOW THAT YOU ARE ASKING... THE WINDOWS IN THE KITCHEN AND LOUNGE HAD BEEN PAINTED SHUT.
MY BEDROOM WINDOW WAS ALSO ESTAPOL PAINTED OVER THE SILL. WANTED TO GET A HAMMER AND A WEDGE SHAPED TOOL TO BREAK THE SEAL ! I CLOSED DOOR FOR PRIVACY BUT THEN HAD NO VENTILATION OVERNIGHT WHILE I SLEPT.
FORTUNATELY THE CORNER BEDROOM, THE BATHROOM AND THE THIRD BEDROOM WINDOWS COULD BE OPENED. THIS PROVIDED A WELCOME AERATION WHEN WE FIRST ARRIVED.

Wonderful location in Battery Point in easy walking distance to city centre. Very helpful staff. Comfortable room. Good food. Very nice atmosphere in pub and restaurant but very quiet at night.
If you wanted breakfast on site it was not available but there were several superb cafes and a bakery open and serving from early within 200 metres.

Charming and cosy little place, room was bright and clean and we could overlook the harbor from the window in our room. The sunroom was a nice place to sit and relax. Parking was off the street and free. The bathroom was across the hall, and had a little kitchen for all your needs.
The shower temperature changed a lot, the tap fell off a few times. The floors creaked being an old building, and the pub crowd downstairs may bother some people, but didn't go on too late.

Excellent location, clean room with linen service sheets. A very handy, well stocked communal kitchenette made things super easy in the mornings. Thanks for the toast and the cuppa!
The ladies shower room needs a few quite obvious repairs (water spraying all over the floor from a broken shower head), so I mentioned this to a staff member. The damaged floorboards are a bit of a worry.

Fabulous location with views over the Derwent River. Very, very comfy bed in good size room with ensuite. Upstairs, so if you have a stair phobia......! As for location - Just a short walk to Salamanca. (Again - if you have a stair phobia there are a lot!) There is a steep stairway to get from Battery Point into the middle of Salamanca where the Saturday market is.
Dining room/Bar has a great selection of delicious meals.
Hmm. Nothing really other than the stairs! No I don't have a phobia for them but when you go to Salamanca and the Waterfront area you do have to go down and then up again!! :) :)

Huge 3 bedroom apartment in a historical Pub! Has been beautifully renovated! Had everything we needed! We were very comfortable & warm The renovations r lovely but keeping the original bar & front dining room! We were surprised that we couldn't hear noises from bar & restuarant! The renovated restuarant was lovely we opted to eat in Slip which was very cosy with an open fireplace!
The only thing I didn't like was my roast lamb from the restuarant! It was very tough & some slices were inedible! the vegetables were delicious & my two friends meals were delicious! I gave them a 9 out of 10 for overall rating! I would have given them 10 out of 10 had it not been for the roast lamb

Price is good for the location. Free off-street parking is a bonus. Our room felt private and secure, there is access into the building which avoids the bar so you don't have to walk through when heading out. Also there is a great coffee shop within a 5 minute walk.
There was a really loud mechanical humming noise coming from outside our room which made it difficult to sleep - I couldn't work out where it was coming from but I think maybe the kitchen fan or something? It was disruptively loud and was on 24-hrs a day - For this reason I wouldn't stay again. Also the bedroom window didn't close properly meaning there was a draft when it was cold outside.

Great value for money in a nice part of inner Hobart. Food at the restaurant was very tasty. Recommend.

Clean & comfortable room, efficient heater, friendly staff, complimentary breakfast. Great food & atmosphere in this old-school mariners pub
Uneven hot water shower flow. More hanging space in room would've been handy. Draughty window seal not the best in a Hobart winter.
