About this apartment rental
Gull's Rest is a charming cottage that has recently been completely renovated and beautifully furnished for a truly comfortable and welcoming holiday year-round. The front deck is a lovely spot for a summer morning coffee, while the log burner is perfect for a cosy winter's evening. Located just behind Market Square you're seconds away from Dartmouth's shops, bars, and restaurants yet in a prime elevated position peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle below. A parking permit is provided.
Accommodation:
A flight of 25 old stone steps from the road takes you up to the private, enclosed front deck.
The front door opens straight into the cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove, comfortable sofas and armchair, a Smart TV and a DVD player.
Stairs up to the first floor where you will find the brand-new light and airy kitchen and dining area, complete with integrated appliances including an oven and hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher. The dining area has an extendable dining table that comfortably seats six.
Off the kitchen is a small single bedroom with built-in hanging space and access to the tiled family bathroom, which includes a bath with an overhead shower and heated towel rail.
Stairs from the dining area lead up to the second floor, where you will find two other bedrooms and a shower room. The master bedroom - with views over towards town and the market - has a kingsize bed, built-in hanging space, and a chest of drawers. At the front of the property is the private enclosed deck made with grey composite material giving a fresh contrasting finish to the traditional mid-terrace building. Garden seating and potted plants make it the perfect bijou spot to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of fizz.
It is possible to stop at the bottom of the steps to unload, and a parking pass is provided for the Mayors Avenue Car Park - a 3-minute walk away.
Please note the flight of stairs up to the property are quite steep and a little uneven.
Parking:
The car park pass provided is valid for the Mayors Avenue Car Park, a 3-minute walk away. The permit does not guarantee a space, and the car park can be very busy during the high season or during events such as the annual Regatta.

Great house in imaculate condition. Lots of steps up to the house and two stair case within the property but no stair gates so bought our own from Argos. But apart from that we had a lovely time and would defo recommend to anyone looking for an easy property for walking straight into town.

Very nice stay. My Grandparents used to have a house in Kingswear so this was a great base to explore the area

The property was clean with new modern bathrooms, spacious for our group and in an ideal location. We enjoyed our stay however there are a few touches that would have made it that bit more comfortable. A welcome hamper with some basics such as milk and bread, a washing up cloth/sponge, at least one dishwasher tablet and washing machine tablet and mattress protectors on the beds (a must). I've stayed in numerous holiday rentals where these things are provided and much appreciated especially if you are arriving late in the day/evening.

We visited for new year and felt at home as soon as we arrived. Lovely and clean all the expected amenities and comfy sofas. We brought some logs with us and used the wood burner which made it lovely and cosy. Very close to the harbour. The steps outside were not a problem and short walk to the car park, however it was difficult to get a space as was busy. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break.

Situation was great very central. Steps not particularly easy to negotiate. Beds very comfortable. Liked the terrace area, good to be able to sit outside.

Quality place. Very well decorated.
Recommend to this to those wishing to experience the Dartmouth area.
Close to everything. There are some noisy sea gulls but it’s not a big deal.
Just be careful not to follow sat Nav all the time when it takes you down small country lanes. Woodlands and River Dart Country Park are great options if you have kids. And the beaches at Salcombe and Paignton are great options for kids upto 12 years old. The service was good from the team. We would definitely go back.

Lovely house in the heart of Dartmouth
This is a lovely, comfortable house in the heart of Dartmouth. The house is just a couple of minutes from everything that Dartmouth has to offer. The house comes with a parking permit which means you can park for free in a car park 5 mins away.
The house is over 3 levels and up some steps so avoid if you have mobility issues. The living room and kitchen are big, comfortable and nicely decorated. The 3 bedrooms are nicely presented and great for our group of 4 adults.
There is also an attractive yard at the front of the house where you can enjoy nice weather.
The only downside was that there was only one soap and dishwasher tablets in the property. This meant we needed to go to a shop to stock up on toiletries but there are plenty of shops around the town.

Great central location and lovely house
Great central location in Dartmouth - you can walk anywhere from here. Lovely spacious house with 2 bathrooms (ideal with 2 grown up daughters) and an outdoor terrace. Beautifully decorated. Just be aware this is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems - tricky stone steps to reach the house and then 3 floors in the house. Otherwise a perfect choice.

Wonderful stay at Gull’s Rest
Gull’s Rest is in a perfect location in the heart of Dartmouth, which we found to be very convenient. The cottage was very homely and clean with comfortable beds, lovely linen and towels. It provided everything we needed as a family with a well equipped kitchen and we would certainly recommend it to others. We had excellent communication with Dart Valley Cottages and hope to return again in the future.

Beautiful property in a wonderful location
Husband and I enjoyed a comfortable stay at Gulls Rest with our two teenagers.
The property was immaculately presented with all the equipment needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The beds were perfect for us to have a decent nights sleep.
The front terrace was another great space for us to use in the evening.
Being so close to the centre of Dartmouth was fantastic and really close to the market, pubs, cafes and shops it just took the pressure off having to go out in the car.
We’ll definitely be booking to stay again.

Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location
Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location!
We were worried that it may be a little noisy as it was so close to town, literally a few steps, but it was beautifully quiet. The terrace had the sun on it all day. As it was April it was chilly in the evenings and we made use of the gorgeous log burner. The cottage was excellent and the beds extremely comfortable. Very tastefully decorated, great bathrooms and kitchen and everything you could wish for. We couldn’t fault it!

Good cottage in great location
We have stayed in Dartmouth many times so were familiar with the location of the cottage which does not have parking but is only about 2 mins walk from the main car park. Was a bit of an issue with the living room being on the ground floor with kitchen above but we knew this prior to booking, however trying to get the heating right took a day or so of trying different settings on the radiators as it was boiling upstairs and freezing in the living room.
The house was largely clean but the radiator in the top floor bathroom is a towel rail type with loads of rails and it was very dusty as was the outside of the shower tray in the same bathroom but overall it was clean and well equipped.
Would benefit from somewhere to store muddy boots but space in the entrance straight into living room is limited.
Wouldn't stay again but only due to the layout - no other reason.

What a gem
A lovely spacious house, centrally located in the centre of town but very quiet. It is furnished to a very high standard and the kitchen is well equipped too. A lovely private patio at the front of the property is a real bonus. There are a number of steps up the front door which are steep which may not be suitable for some but well worth it for the peace and tranquillity.

Perfect house in the centre of Dartmouth
A well equipped house. Very clean and comfortable. Right in the heart of Dartmouth with a little supermarket and cafes/pubs/shops on your doorstep. We would definitely stay there again and can highly recommend it. The only possible problem might be the quite steep steps up from the pavement - only a short distance and were no problem for us (in our mid 60s).

Great location
Really close to the centre of town and although no parking for the property it is easy to park up and drop off luggage. House itself is well equipped and made for a very comfortable week.

An excellent base for our stay in Dartmouth
We booked with Dart Valley Cottages again because the quality of the accommodation last year was excellent, but we wanted to be in a more central location in the town, rather than on the hill, and Gulls Rest did not disappoint in any way. The brand new kitchen was light, spacious and very well equipped, the bathrooms were tastefully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Our two teenage girls thought the wifi was excellent and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy our stay there.
We were able to unload at the bottom of the steps leading up to the property, and the elevated deck above North Ford Road (only a path really with no vehicular traffic) provided a very private outdoor dining and relaxing space. The property was just a 3 minutes walk to the Quay which was great.
The only slight surprise was being able to clearly hear some noise from the adjacent property occasionally, especially on the 2nd floor, but this was not a major problem for us.

Lovely, cosy holiday cottage
Clean comfortable house in a convenient location. The wood burner is lovely and the bedrooms are really comfortable.
It’s a very new let and I think because of this there are a few things lacking in terms of equipment and furnishings.
For example there needs to be more plates and cutlery so that you don’t keep running out. Some champagne glasses would be nice. Waste paper baskets in the bedrooms and living room are needed and the bathrooms are missing toilet brushes!
This didn’t detract from our stay and we’d definitely book again. Thank you!

Christmas Stay 2019
We had a super stay at Gulls Rest, the cottage is centrally located for the town and the parking was easy and a short walk away. The cottage had a well equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed and a great log burner. Dartmouth is a great place for exploring the coastpath and all the ferries across the estuary were handy for getting around without using the car.The cottage has about 25 uneven steps to climb from the street to the front door so may not be suitable for everyone but was no problem for us.
