Spitalfields is a charming East-End community that rubs shoulders with neighbouring Whitechapel and Shoreditch. The iconic Petticoat Lane Market is one of the oldest and most popular open markets in the city of London and has a unique place in East End history. You’ll never be short of an interesting story from any of the local market sellers about the area if you stop and chat whilst browsing the many stalls and items!
If you’re looking for some good food; why not wander up the road just five minutes away towards Shoreditch? Get used to making that area your local for grocery shopping or, grabbing a bite to go from the ever-changing pop-up food spots in the area, as well as finding more than a few quirky and cool bars to explore during the night!
With such good transport links to the rest of the city from Liverpool Street Station, living in Spitalfields means you’ll never be too far away from whatever interesting events happen to be going on in the city but, this charming East London area has so much to offer you might never need to leave it!
The nearest London Underground station is a five minute walk from the apartments at Aldgate East station. This is serviced by the Hammersmith and City line and District line trains, although there is no night tube service to this station. Liverpool Street Station is the closest station for standard railway and Overground services and other tube lines, as one of the most connected stations in the city, with nearby Bank station connected via underground walkway for access to the Docklands Light railway south towards Canary Wharf and Greenwich.
Buses from outside Aldgate East station are frequent, travelling to numerous areas across the city, with night buses operating on most routes. For anyone wishing to or considering driving within the city, this area is outside the congestion charge zone but, it is very close nearby so journeys crossing over into the city centre will result in the customary £15 charge to be paid for doing so.
From Liverpool Street Station you can reach London Gatwick (average journey of 40-50 minutes) and London Stanstead (50-60 minutes) airports via direct train, which is handy for living in this part of the city.
