About this house rental
Escape to Marathon, the heart of the Florida Keys!
Enjoy this 3 bedroom, 2 bath Atlantic side canal home with an 80' dock and quick ocean access. Amenities include fish cleaning station at the dock, a bait freezer, pool with a tanning ledge. Catch a show while relaxing in the hot tub.
Our waterfront, single-family home, affectionately named “Turtle Cove”, offers 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an 80 ft dock with quick ocean access! This tastefully furnished Keys home is located on a quiet side street in a residential neighborhood on the Atlantic side of the Island, just 5 houses from open water.
The open living and dining room space is great for gathering with plenty of seating for everyone … a great environment to sit back, relax, and talk about your daily and upcoming adventures!
Being just a short distance from the Atlantic, you’ll be diving, snorkeling, or have your lines in the water in no time! If you don’t have a boat of your own, there are plenty of rental services or guide services in the area. We have one two person kayak for guest use. When you aren’t out enjoying our beautiful Atlantic Ocean or your private pool and hot tub, you’ll enjoy a host of other entertainment options…you will be minutes from Sombrero Beach, Turtle Hospital, Crane Museum and just a short drive to the Dolphin Research Center or Aquarium where you will learn about the wonderful sea life in the area.
In case you can’t get to the outdoors or to our sites or are winding down in the evenings, we have a large screen TV with a DVD player to watch movies and have a few games and puzzles if that is your thing.
There are so many great restaurants to try in the area, it will be hard to pick a night to stay in and cook on your own. But if you do, you’ll find that our kitchen is stocked with cooking essentials. You’ll appreciate the stainless steel appliances and granite countertops with plenty of room to prep! Of course, we provide standards: A coffee pot, Keurig, toaster, blender, and plenty of serving dishes.
Upstairs has two bedrooms: One canal side with a King bed and sliding glass doors to access the outside; the second has a queen bed. Our lower level, which is accessible from the outside, has a full and twin bed, a seating area with a TV and a little serving station with a microwave and small refrigerator to hold some essentials.
Our outdoor living area provides a gas grill and even a bait freezer for your convenience. Additionally, the dock has a cleaning station, electricity, and water. Again, one 2-person kayak for your use.
We have such a great property to offer. Hopefully, the description answers all your questions but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or special requests. We look forward to hosting you and your guests in our home!
Note also that if you have a large group, we have another property two doors down, just 3 houses from the ocean. Look for our sister property, Manatee Cove! This stunning 4br/2ba home with pool and hot tub is perfect for large group gatherings. Between the two properties, we can accommodate up to 18 guests - the VRBO number for Manatee Cove is 1750579.
Note that if we are offering a special last minute, it is for last minute specials, we do not apply the special rates to advance bookings made when the special was not offered.
We ask for a Saturday to Saturday booking from mid-February to the first week of April; all of June, July, and mid-August. We sometimes have some flexibility to book different dates during the offseason but only if we are within a couple weeks of the dates.
Boat size: No more than 30' recommended for our canal. We have guests currently booked that have concerns about the depth of the canal coming in so I'm providing more information to help future guests - we have a 30' boat and only have issues during king tides at low tide only. If you are an experienced boater, you can get in and out of our canal no problem. Please reach out before booking if you have questions or concerns so we can provide more details if you require them.
Pets: We prefer smaller dogs, not too hairy - please send us a note first to confirm your pet is okay to stay. It's an extra $25/day (plus tax) for a pet. VRBO should ask you to put in the number of pets and charge accordingly but if their system doesn't pick it up, we'll add it on. If you are unsure, don’t add your pet in now, we will do it later when you decide. Deciding later will save you up front booking fees and unnecessary taxes.
Occupancy: Rates are based on the standard occupancy which is 6. You may have up to 8 by ordinance but we charge additional occupancy fees in this case. If you are unsure of your total, book with 6, then update us when you know. Deciding later will save you up front booking fees and unnecessary taxes.
Parking: The front of the house has a mostly gravel and concrete driveway. There is more than enough room for a few cars and a trailer or two. The photo of the front is not being accepted by VRBO for posting. In the meantime, please request it if you'd like to see the front.

The house and property we're great.
The parking and dockage were
plentiful and well kept. The only downfall with the depth of The Canal at low tide for larger boatfor at low tide with a larger boat largboat

We had a great stay in this lovely home. We brought our 23-foot Seahunt and had no issue getting in and out of the Atlantic. My husband and daughter went dolphin fishing about 5 miles out and had huge success. I stayed home with my 11-year-old and and 1 1/2 year old and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool, especially the little wading area for my young son. The house in in a perfect location, extremely quiet street and near everything. Our host was amazing and communicative, though we had zero issues for the week we were there. We look forward to returning in the future, though perhaps when my son is a little older and Mommy is able to partake in more of the boating activities!

Very nice property. We enjoyed our stay and would consider this property in the future.
The listing states the downstairs is accessible from the outside. I would suggest adding the word ONLY to that. Water pressure in the upstairs shower was very low which made for longer showers. Kitchen was equipped with everything needed to enjoy our evening meals.
Overall, relaxing trip and enjoyed our family time!

Everything was as good or even better than we hoped. From the immediate and helpful communication to the house itself! We are avid boaters and fishermen/woman, the dock space is massive, has a hose, cleaning table and bait freezer right at the dock. 4 or 5 houses to the Atlantic Ocean. The house was very clean, AC was awesome, and the house design really sets up well for a group that may want some privacy from their fellow guests. The absolute show stealer is the pool. Virtually complete privacy, large and has several ledges at varying depths to make sipping Margaritas as good as it gets. The large, covered Lanai is right next to the pool, perfect for cookouts, card games and in our case backgammon tournaments. Parking for three large pickup trucks and two boat trailers. Also, the house is located on the same end of Marathon that has almost all of the restaurants, bars and a boat ramp. It's the little things that makes a place special, this place covers them all.

My family really enjoyed our 3 weeks at Turtle Cove. The home was as advertised and actually even better. We loved having 2 separate living spaces, being on a canal that had daily visits from multiple manatees, the quiet street with friendly neighbors and really enjoyed the child friendly heated pool. Prior to our stay any questions we had concerning the home were answered quickly by Margie and while we never had any issues during our stay, Kathy the maintenance manager was always available and close by if we had needed her. Our overall impression of the home was that it was everything we had hoped for and needed. Therefore we've already booked again for next year and can't wait to go back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Turtle Cove. The pictures do not do this place justice. We walked in and were taken aback at how beautiful and well maintained it was. It was a nice touch to have music playing in the house when we walked in. The house was up to date, very clean, and plenty spacious. The unique set up with the separate entrance downstairs with a bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen appliances was extremely convenient for our group. It allowed one family to have their own space while the other family could have privacy upstairs. The pool and hot tub were amazing and private. We also enjoyed the large dock and fish cleaning station. We walked to Herbies twice - we loved having it close by. The property manager Kathy was excellent and made sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed. We would surely stay here again.

Awesome house is the correct adjective for this home! Perfect location for all of our activities- fishing, snorkeling, and eating! Close to restaurant’s and to grocery stores. When we cooked the lobster we caught it was very quick to run out and get the supplies we needed!
Having two stories was great to allow younger family members privacy and fishing off dock while the older members watched from second story deck!

Couple notes for the boaters:
Coming in and out of the canal at normal low tide is skinny. Trim up and you're good to go.
Sea wall is missing a few pylons. I had no issues tying up a 22 ft Grady. I only see it being an issue if tying up two boats on the wall.
As for the house it was beautiful and clean. The lot was beautiful and clean. Bugs by the pool were no issue(compared to bugs by pools on the bay side). Well stocked home. Appliances all looked new. The kitchen had everything you needed. More TV's than anyone needs while on vacation in the keys. All smart TVs for you to log into your streaming services. We forgot to log out of our Hulu, whoever is staying there now is enjoying law and order. The cable tv selection is great, the best we've seen in a vacation rental, if you don't do streaming services. Our dog loved the fenced back yard. He could walk leash free several times a day and play catch. Pool was nice and clean. There are lots of palms around the pool, common sense says if there's a storm or heavy winds you'll get some debris in the pool. There was a nice hot tub but didn't use it because it was 70 degrees at night and 90 during the day. I bet it's perfect in February. Perfect place to stay that won't break the bank. Master bed was nice and firm. Zero complaints and would 100% stay again. Host was very easy to reach on our questions about entering the canal, she answered while eating lunch. Couldn't ask for more.

Great location. We really liked how the house was close to everything.
First boat trip to the canal is a little intimidating when the water is down but it's fine after you have done it once.
Would stay here again.

We had a wonderful time, had everything we needed, and the local property manager was very helpful and communicative. One of the many highlights was getting to hang out with a manatee who just seemed to like our company at the dock. So sweet!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this home. We have rented spaces for numerous vacations and this one is at the top of our list. The property manager was easy to contact and prompt to respond to any questions/ requests.
The pool and hot tub were great and the lower level (which has its own entrance, bedroom, living area, and full bath) worked well for our teenagers.
Thank you so much!

We really enjoyed our week at this house. The pool was A+, nice hot tub and being right on the canal to see the manatees and being able to kayak was great. The house is comfortably furnished and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable as well. Highly recommend!

The first thing - thank you so much for beautiful place to stay!!! It’s a little paradise on the Earth!)) We had great experience there. The pool is great for all ages. Our 3 kids (4 years and 5 years old) learned to swim very easy, because the pool has a benches inside. We spend all day outside by the pool and patio. We had so much fun to swim to kayak to open ocean! Also it’s a pleasure to have dinner outside next to the water. What we like a lot there is two separate entrances to the first and second floor. That way everyone can have more privacy, so it was great for us and our parents. Sombrero beach one of the cleanest beaches on the Keys and very close to the house. Publix and Walgreens 2 minutes from home. Manager Kathy is the greatest women on the world, she is so kind and lovely person. When we ask for help , she came late evening and brought us anything we ask for. Recommend this place to stay . And next year we are planning to come back. Thank you, Kathy and Margie for enjoying this place! We are happy and lucky that we made this reservation !!!!!!!

Lovely house and outdoor area, perfect for us. The rental was very clean, including the pool, hot tub and the outdoor area.
We took advantage of the 4 outdoor seating areas, poolside, canal front dining, covered patio and balcony.
Its very well stocked, there was even an spare tank of propane for grill. We hardly left because we had everything we needed, including an icemaker. Hand soaps and dish soaps were provided. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals.
The property manager called me the morning after check-in, asking if everything was ok and if I had any questions. I've been renting from VRBO for more than 10 years and this is a much appreciated first!
Note, they ask if we would throw out all spices etc. upon check out, which is understandable. We knew this ahead of time. Its not a problem, there is a dollar tree a few minutes drive. Grocery stores, restaurants, and beaches are within a 10 minute drive.
We spent time fishing in canal, even caught some dinner, and saw manatees daily.
Thank you for sharing your home, we will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay in Marathon the week of 10/08 thru 10/15. The house is nice, however, I do think the furniture is showing its age. It might be to replace. Did not find enough seating in the living room upstairs where we all congregated. The downstairs shower appears to be leaking from somewhere and we had a lot of water on the floor. The guests who stayed upstairs said there was no water pressure in the shower and therefore showered downstairs. I think in the overall scheme these are minor things which can be easily addressed. Location was great close to everything and house was very nice. Enjoyed it overall and would recommend it.

It was a nice property for a last minute vacation. My husband and I checked in Saturday afternoon and found the pool had quite a bit of debris that hadn’t been cleaned after hurricane Ian. I informed the managers and they sent pool cleaners out the next afternoon. My husband had already cleaned most of it because we wanted to use the pool but it was still nice to have the cleaners come finish the job. The house was clean and well maintained. We don’t own a pool at home so we enjoyed several days of relaxing by the pool. The beach was a short drive and dog friendly but it was VERY quiet which was unusual for us. Publix and a few restaurants nearby were great. We like to cook so we did the majority of our cooking in the house and on the grill. Local meat and fish was very good. Day trip to Key West was scenic and only about an hour. Summer season was over so it wasn’t nearly as crowded.
Father-in-law, Sister-in-law, and 2 nephews (3 and 12) joined us Thursday. Plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable. We also had 4 small dogs and plenty of room for them to run. Checked out the touch aquarium and the canopy nature walk with the kids.
Overall, a nice stay for a week at a decent price since the summer season was over.

Nice rental and owner, very awesome pool, we had fun. As recommended, we had to plan our day around low tide. Channel gets very skinny at low tide. Centrally located to some great snorkeling sites....

upon booking we didn't realize that the downstairs rooms were separate from from the top level... no stairs linking them unless you went outside. this ended up being perfect as it gave the grandparents their own separate space from us and the little one upstairs. kitchen was well stocked, pool and hot tub were fantastic, and the entire back yard is fenced and perfect for a dog. neighbor hood is nice and quiet. this is our new go-to booking for the future. loved it

Spring Break Getaway
Wonderful experience! Outside a living area was the best part of the property. TV and comfortable seating and loungers. The tanning ledge and pool were fantastic. We love the Marathon area there’s lots to keep you busy. We saw manatees, sharks, dolphins, a large sing ray, and many birds. The house is in a central location for many attractions and activities.

We had a great week here! I have no critiques of the property or management. Would book it again if we were coming back to marathon.
Just some FYIs before booking
The pool was perfect for our 8 month old baby. Tons of shade. Not sure the pool was heated, though, we didn’t mind enough to mention or request it. The pool lounge chairs are actually different, and nicer, than advertised.
The downstairs/bedroom is not accessible from inside the house, you have to walk outside to get there.
The no see um bugs are real!! I have 18 bites on one of my legs alone. Bring bug spray and put it on before you think you need it. Not specific to this property because we were bit at the aquarium as well.
This street is nice but the neighborhood is a little run down. Neighbor was nice enough to help us fix our luggage.
Walkable to a restaurant with plenty to do nearby. Grocery store seconds away.
I am allergic to animals and did not have any symptoms even though this house permits animals!

The house was amazing and pool makes it even better after a long day on the water. Easy access to great fishing and diving locations and straight shot out to the deep water to offshore fish! Couldn’t of been happier with our stay.

Great time!
Great Pool! Nice accommodations. Rented a boat for the week and really only had to be careful one day coming in the canal, low tide was LOW. Only downside from being on a canal and not the owners fault is the mosquitos...they were AWFUL at dusk. Bring bug spray! The house was great, my kids are older so it was nice putting them in the downstairs area. The house manager put the trash cans and recycle out at on the nights they were due to go out for us. Super helpful owner(s) and we would definitely stay here again!
