On the plus side this property is within a good walking distance to the town centre with off road parking.
We found the location to be quiet and peaceful.
It is a small property but the beds are comfortable and the bedding and towels are nice quality.
On arrival we were extremely disappointed with the property. It was not as described in the listing. and not what we expected.
The cleanliness of the downstairs and the presentation were poor.
The sun was shining and the property was warm and didn’t smell very nice.
The patio doors were extremely dirty. We could hardly see through them in the sunshine and there were lots of children’s handprints. They didn’t look like they had been cleaned for some time.
The ledges on the doors was also badly marked and dirty.
Other issues were the dining table and chairs which were dirty around the base with spillages and scrapes on them.
The baking trays were also in extremely poor condition and were burned and scratched. Unusable to say the least.
The shower head in the bathroom was filthy.
We raised our issues with the manager and sent him photos and requested a refund to reflect the condition of the property.
He offered to send the cleaners in the next day but we declined as we were only stating two nights and our belongings were in the house.
He initially offered us 20% refund which we declined and requested nearer to 30% which we felt closer reflected the condition of the property.
We also offered to allow him to put the property right for the next visitors rather than leave a bad review but he saw that as a bribe. Hardly a bribe when the property was in such a poor condition and not worth what we had paid. We merely wanted the condition of the property reflected in the refund.
He then messaged us to say he was going to withdraw the refund offer and charge us for a new rug which he said we had damaged.
We DID NOT spill anything on the rug and and if we had we would have told them!
This experience has definitely made us reevaluate how we move forward with this type of property rental again.
To be accused of doing something you know you haven’t done is disgraceful!
We have always taken care of every property we have stayed in like we do our own home!!

Lovely cottage good position I did find the check in process a nightmare but then again at my age (71) that is to be expected.
The owner was a great communicator. All in all a lovely week.

Lovely break in Bourton
The house was perfect for us (family of 4 with 2 small children) for a few nights away. The house was very clean and comfortable. Cosily small which was fine for us but could be a challenge for families with bigger children. Complimentary beers was a nice touch. One challenge was the kitchen was quite poorly stocked with utensils which made cooking in it quite hard.

House in perfect location to the main town of bourton on the water.
Everything we wanted to do with the children only 20-30min drive.
House location quightet.

We've had a lovely stay in Bourton-on-the-Water and in Richard and Laura's property. The house is perfect for a family of 4 for a little getaway for a few days. The house is clean, well kept and well decorated. It's modern yet homely and very comfy and inviting. The house has all the amenities you'd need. The only reason I've rated the accuracy of the online listing as 4 rather than 5, is because it's listed as not being suitable for children but it is very suitable for children, with books, games and bunk beds for kids. Would definitely recommend this house, which is walking distance from the village centre.
