BEACH/LAKEFRONT
Sunset Beach is a natural Great Lakes shoreline that changes with the weather. We have many beach stones, driftwood, and beach glass. Sunset Beach is a great place to relax, celebrate all occasions, swim, walk the beach, fish, kayak, water sports, enjoy a campfire, and treasure hunt for beach glass or other flotsam and jetsam. Please note, the shoreline of Sunset Beach is a rock beach.
Freeport Beach, the public beach next to us, does get sand replenishment and grooming. Little ones will enjoy the playground at Freeport Beach. Older kids and adults can enjoy the sand volleyball courts there. In the summer season, Freeport Beach offers a lifeguard.
Guests with limited mobility can enjoy the lake views from the home and decks. The decks are partially shaded. The beach requires good mobility for access, as the surface is uneven with scattered driftwood, beach stones, etc. Driving distance to Freeport Beach for those who want to bypass the creek is about half a mile. Walking distance to Freeport Beach is much closer.
ATTRACTIONS
Lake Erie Wine Trail: We are located on the Lake Erie Wine Trail. 26 wineries make up the complete wine trail. Wineries are open YEAR ROUND and close only on major holidays. Along the wine trail we have many artisans, galleries, antique shops, and restaurants. If you visit during a slower time, call ahead to book a special small group session with a winemaker for a look behind the scenes.
World Class Fishing: Lake Erie area is known for world class fishing including walleye, perch, bass, lake trout, and steelhead. We can recommend Charters or discuss parking for your boat. 16 Mile Creek is about 40 feet from this house. 20 Mile is about 3 miles from this house. Steelhead season typically runs from October through March, but creeks can and do freeze over for the latter part of the season.
Sunsets: Watching the sun set each night into the lake is a beautiful thing and a local tradition. You have a direct and open view of the sunset at lake level at this home. If you watch closely you may catch a green flash!
Nearby: We have a nice variety of restaurants nearby. Noosa Restaurant is newer, upscale and just 2 miles away. Skunk and Goat Tavern is a great local restaurant. A local pub with good food is Plummer's, just a few miles east across the N.Y. border. Other local faves for coffee/lunch/hanging out include The Bean – a cool space with WiFi. Presque Isle Winery has a fun food menu to go along with wine tasting. South Shore cafe is open mid-June to mid-October. For 18-holes of golf, we recommend Green Meadows Golf Course (5 miles).
Daytrips? We are a short drive to Chautauqua Lake, Bemus Point, Findley Lake, Peek-n-Peak Golf & Ski Resort - and new Mountaineering and Zipline Courses, Erie, Presque Isle State Park, as well as Presque Isle Downs & Casino, Splash Lagoon Water Park, Waldameer Amusement Park, Malls (Millcreek, Galleria, Grove City). Niagara Falls is another great day trip for family memories. For unique family adventures, we recommend the new mountaineering course and zip lines at Peek 'n Peak Resort in Clymer NY, the Horse Riding Trails at Double DAB in Ripley NY, and the Scallywags Pirate Ship in Erie.
WATER SPORTS
Our location is excellent for water sports. If you are looking for a place to kayak, canoe or windsurf, bring your small craft and launch from the beach.
Larger boats and jet skis can be launched from the North East Marina just 2 miles away and anchored during the day in front of the home.
For beach sports, try sand volleyball at the adjacent Freeport Beach sand courts - just a short walk!

Great place on the lake, as advertised, even though the remnants of Hurricane Debby made swimming impossible our last two days. The 5-6’ waves were spectacular though!
The house was beautiful. The living room windows and outdoor seating overlooking the lake were very welcome! House was very clean, parking was easy and corresponding with the owner was almost instant.
Internet and phone service was a bit shaky but adequate. Loved being able to open the doors in the upstairs bedrooms to listen to the waves.
Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again!

Nice, clean and would stay there again. The kids had a blast!

This property was everything we were looking for! True lake house with private beach. We went to the 77th Cherry Festival in town and bought a cherry pie! We tried out a few wineries and just relaxed! Wonderful time with family in a comfortable house! Thank you!

The house was well stocked with everything we needed for the weekend and an extra comfy cot that we requested. The location right on the shore was exactly what we wanted but I wish we could have walked further on the shore in each direction. The fire ring was great in the evenings. Overall a fun and chill weekend for our family!

My Florida family and I stayed for my mom’s funeral. Great place for the family and friends to congregate while we were in town.

We loved our stay in PA. The home was beautiful. Super clean. The views are amazing! The kids played and swam in the water right in front of the house. We also spent time on the beach just a couple minute walk from the house and it also has a playground. Highly recommend staying here!

We loved this house. The weather was not great while we were there but because of the views from everywhere in the house, we had an awesome visit. This house is literally right next to the lake. We also enjoyed some of the local wineries. The owner was also very responsive and nice! Definitely recommend this house.

The location can not be beat! Access to the warm waters of Lake Erie, quiet neighborhood, and great home to wake up and having breakfast literally on the lake. We truly enjoyed the property and the owner was extremely responsive and accommodating. Already looking to book next summer! Family time to recharge
We needed some time to rest and relax. And this place was the place to do it! We wanted a place on the lake so we could use our kayaks and paddle board. We were also able to walk along the beach, take long walks through the neighborhood, and just sit on the beach and watch the sunset. It was great!

Sarah is super responsive and incredibly kind to a couple of old school travelers. The house is right on lake Erie and a creek runs just to the left. Looked like fishing was good for the fisher folk. We had to check out my husband's old haunts which kept us on the move for most of the weekend it was lovely to come home to a quiet beach and just watch the weather and the waves. Owners are making updates and are open to travelers input. My only request is for a lounge chair to take a nap or read.

Rented this property with grandparents and two kids under 10. It was the perfect quiet 48 hour getaway. Felt like the ocean but with a much shorter drive.

We loved the Location. The house is beautiful inside. My only complaint was there was a lot of cobwebs and spiders and overgrown brush around the property(but I’m a stickler for cobwebs at my own house😁) The house had everything you could need to cook, relax, and enjoy your time. Very comfortable beds. Rocky beach not much sand but we didn’t miss it. The kids had the most fun playing where the creek meets the lake, lots of fun currents there. Best part: coffee in the morning on the front porch.

Beach time!
Excellent beach house!

The view was beautiful and the sunsets we had were amazing. The lake was a bit rough at times, so not ideal for kids. Also the shore is all rocks, which are cool, but tough on the feet. The house itself is small but cozy. It think 4-5 people tops. The furniture was not comfortable and sparse. Also the outside furniture was pretty crappy. Hard to beat the location though, and the property manager was great!

Great weekend away. The pictures make it seem more isolated than it is, but the neighborhood was peaceful and friendly. House was amazing. Beds on the firm side, but my group prefers softer beds. Nothing like sipping coffee listening to the waves and just hopping in my kayak to cruise the waters.

The location is the very best! You can see the lake from almost every area of the house! There are several areas for you to sit outside and enjoy the lake! We did have 2 young children with us and that would be the only downfall. The house was not easy to keep them out of stuff. We had an 8 month old and a just 3 yr old with us. I loved the balcony fromthe upstairs bedrooms! We had a great time!
