About this cabin rental
A beautiful spot perched under the trees on the banks of the Guadalupe River in Seguin, TX. One of 2 lovely tiny homes on the property. Plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. 100' of riverfront with beach entry. FREE kayaks. Great fishing from the dock or banks. Reconnect w/ the great outdoors: fire pit, outdoor shower, hammocks. Sleeps 4.
WATER LEVELS
The water levels depicted in the photos are current. The water has been down since March 2023, but it's not due to drought conditions. The dam that created Meadow Lake (aka Lake Nolte) from the Guadalupe River since 1928, is being rebuilt. While it’s now a river (12-15’ lower than when it was a lake), it’s pretty consistent level and flow, despite rainfall, because it’s fed from the bottom of Canyon Lake. The river has a muddy bottom, so plumes of button moss can float downstream and sometimes collect at water's edge, esp during warmer summer months.
Despite the lower levels, we are still in a great spot for kayaking, swimming, floating, wading, and fishing. It varies from ankle deep at the edge of the bank, 3-4 feet around the fishing dock, and over 10 feet in other areas. Additionally, there's no boat traffic so it's very calm and quiet here.

PLEASE NOTE
This is a tiny home, so the water heater is also tiny. This isn't the place for long indoor showers, and the tank needs time to refill between showers. But we do have an outdoor shower with a tankless water heater with a view of the water, which is second to none!
The Loft House is one of 2 tiny homes on the property, so the outdoor areas and riverfront may be shared with up to 4 guests from the other tiny home, the Bunk House. Your house is private (all to yourself) with your own attached front porch, as well as separate outdoor dining, grill, hammock chair, hammock, and paddles. The Shed, fire pit, outdoor area, and riverfront are shared with plenty of room to spread out.
If Meadow Lake Retreat Loft House is booked on your preferred dates, please check out the other tiny house on the property, Meadow Lake Retreat Bunk House. We also own Lake Nolte Retreat (tiny home on the adjacent lot) and Reiley Retreat (2 units of a duplex on the Guadalupe River in Seguin).
We live locally and are only a phone call away if you need anything. We also have local maintenance and housekeeping available for needs that may arise during your stay with us.
We love this place because it's quiet, near the end of a dead end country road with cows and lots of stars. But it's still super convenient (5 minutes) to many things like Walmart and HEB.
Right off I-10 and very centrally located to:
- essentials like HEB, Walmart, Starbucks, restaurants, movie theater (- Gruene/New Braunfels/Schlitterbahn (20 miles)
- San Marcos outlet malls (25 miles)
- San Antonio (~40 miles)
- Austin (~50 miles)
You'll likely need a car to get around. HEB will deliver groceries to your doorstep via Shipt. Please check on Uber/DoorDash as those services seem to be intermittent here.
Reservations >2 weeks may require an additional cleaning fee.
NO smoking. Smoking of any kind (including tobacco, marijuana, e-cigarettes, vape pens, and hookahs) is prohibited at this property, inside and out.
NO pets. Although we are pet lovers, this is a shared property with other guests who may be sensitive (allergic, fearful) to pets.
NO large parties or gatherings allowed. We have neighbors with full-time residence nearby who will report back with excessive noise or groups that exceed the home limit. Parking limited to 2 vehicles.

The river access, canoes, paddles and life jackets were all available for our use, including other floats to enjoy the water which was a great temperature. The tiny house was lovely, clean, and accommodating, with nice touches like hammocks and swings for relaxing outdoors. My family and I had an excellent time.

We had a great time on the river and Laura was an amazing host.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying in the Loft twice. It’s very comfortable with a beautiful outdoor area. Laura is a fantastic host that supplies the Loft with everything you need for a great stay. She responds quickly if you have any questions. I would recommend any friends or family to stay there! I’m sure I’ll return at some point.

One of the best places I have stayed. Nice, quiet, beautiful, and everything I needed was there. The views are amazing. It is so easy to relax and connect with nature being there.
I was in Seguin for business and if I have to come back, I will choose this place for sure.

This place was amazing! Laura was a wonderful host. Everything was clean and organized. Instructions were detailed and clear. The view and location were to die for the stores were accessible. My family and I made great memories. We will definitely be back.

Was definitely the best anniversary we have had in the past three years and plan on making a trip with the family!!

This met and exceeded our expectations! We went in September for one week, rested, fished, kayaked and chilled. A perfect spot for a personal getaway and unplugging. The host was gracious and this place had everything we needed to cook and bbq. Several sitting areas if there are more guests and would rent again. Highly recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised that this rental was just as advertised. It was CLEAN, the kayaks and paddles were in working order and the place was so inviting. We loved the outside shower, coming back up from the lake, the shower was the cherry on top. We vow to be back and maybe take in a full week instead of 3 days. Thank you to all who made this a pleasant stay ❤️

We will be back when it's not a work trip and we can enjoy this property to its fullest. Great place!

We had a great time and would stay here again. Only 2 recommendations: spray for wasps or have plenty of wasp spray on hand. There were several wasp nests by the front door and outside shower. Second was the steps down to the water, that last step is a big one and someone with bad knees would struggle.

Owners were very kind. Everything in the home is just as listed. No surprises. The home is really near and I can’t remember a more peaceful morning than sitting on the river as the sun rose. 10/10 100% would recommend.

Relaxing
We truly enjoyed our stay. The home was perfect size for us and had a full kitchen so we were able to cook all our meals. The home is in a great location with Walmart/HEB being 8 minutes away so if you need anything it very close by. The area is so peaceful and relaxing.

We booked Meadow Lake Retreat-Loft for Father’s Day weekend as a close to home get away for my family of four. MLR in just 3 very very short days has become our new home away from home. My husband was a little hesitant about the “shared” space, but God provided us the perfect family to share our days fishing, enjoying fellowship, kayaking, sharing food, bait, and a little more fishing! :-) The ambience and peacefulness of the property is like no other! Laura, Ryan, and their sweet kiddos were actually at their neighboring rental property during our stay, and Laura went above and beyond to check in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. Her husband Ryan even took my husband out on his boat! Our kids played from sun up until sundown together and by the end of the trip, it had felt like we’d known their family forever. I think we were all a little sad to leave on our last day! As far as the “Loft”, we had absolutely everything we needed and more! Laura has everything in every single room labeled which made finding items a breeze. She even has board games and toys for the kiddos (which we didn’t get to use because we couldn’t get our kids to come inside)! The Shed & outdoor space was equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need including all of the outdoor toys. You would pay a fortune to rent all of the fun things that are provided at MLR. We were able to kayak, paddle board, swim, hang out on the floating lily pad, and fish under the green lights at night. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you Laura & Ryan (& your sweet kids) for an unforgettable trip that has made memories for a lifetime. God Bless!
