FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

A little more helpful information:
• Grocery Stores: George Town has a couple of grocery stores and other shops to get provisions. Located in Georgetown, Exuma Markets is the largest grocery store on the island, but we prefer Prime Island Meats.
• Prime Island Meats is located 5 miles south of the airport and is our first and best choice for food. It is owned by an immensely helpful guy from New Jersey. It has freshly imported meats (steak, chicken, pork, lamb, sausages) and seafood, as well as other grocery items like fruits and vegetables. They offer call ahead ordering. 242-336-3627. They are closed on Sundays.
• Convenience Stores: (Liquor/Wine/Beer): Bowes Shopping Plaza is a strip mall 3 miles north of the airport and close to Indigo House. Also, Smitty's (basic food, liquor and pharmacy)-located 6 miles south of the airport.
• Concierge Grocery Stocking: It is nice to arrive at Indigo House and have it freshly stocked with groceries and beverages. We offer this option through our on-island property manager. In preparation for your stay, we will send you a checklist of items and she will do the shopping for you!
We hope that you choose Indigo House as your host property for your Exuma holiday. As the principal owners of three hotels on the island, we strive to provide Exuma’s best experiences.
-The Peace and Plenty Beach Club is a total joy. Spend your day bouncing between Peace and Plenty Beach Club and the nearby Chat N Chill Beach Club. It also allows for exploring the 2-mile windward “wild ocean” beach on the other side of Stocking Island. A great natural adventure for the whole family. Catch the boat shuttle from the Peace and Plenty Hotel in George Town over to the Beach Club on Stocking Island. .
-Rent a small boat from Minn’s Water Sports [email protected] 242-336-3483 and go explore. Ask Minn’s to provide maps of the sandbars and coral reefs. You will experience the enjoyment of boating from island to island in some of the most beautiful waters in the world. End the day at the Peace and Plenty Beach Club for food, drinks and fun. The perfect day!
-Visit the various restaurants on the island, hang out and connect with the local people. Exuma is a small, low population island where everyone knows and looks out for each other. Crime (especially against foreigners) is virtually non-existent. Go out there and mix it up!
Keep in mind, occasionally due to season, weather, power outages, etc., restaurants, stores, boats are not always open or on time.
-Enjoy Indigo House! To max out the experience, open the 24' central stacking glass Nano doors and let the wind rush in. Turn on music via the TV and let it play throughout the house. Sit outside on the deck at night and watch the moon rise over the ocean. Sit down on the benches near the water and watch the waves bounce sideways against the coral rocks. Do exercises/yoga under the shaded pavilion down by the water. Swim in the ocean, use the boogie boards, snorkel, and look for lobsters in the coral heads. Skinny Dip, if not here…. where?

great house with beautiful views in Exuma!

This location was beautiful, nicely decorated, and had an amazing view! I felt it was centrally located to all of our excursions and only a short 20-40 min drive to any location you wanted. We would definitely stay here again! Very big perk to stay at the Indigo and get access to peace and plenty. Thank you!!

We were a family of 8, from grandparents to age 5, and we were delighted with Indigo House. The house had everything we needed and everything was in good working order. Great pool, great oceanfront, and great kitchen. Loved the free transport to Stocking Island as well. Property manager was helpful with anything we needed. We will be back!

This was a beautiful home with an open floor plan that accommodated the 11 of us very comfortably. The view was remarkable and the heated pool and deck area were a big hit with the kids. Although the use of the beach was limited, the breathtaking views and breeze from the ocean made up for it. We had plenty of swimming and snorkeling time on our two boat excursions with Awesome Al’s water sports. We would return in a heartbeat!

This house was amazing! You’ll love the private steps down to the beach and the house has everything you’ll need.
One thing to be aware of is that the island is known to lose power now and then and there is no generator at the house. Just go down and enjoy the beach or the pool until the power comes back on.
We can’t wait to come back!

My 2 friends and I, just got back from a 5 night/6 day stay at Indigo House and I have to tell you, this house is AWESOME! Let me tell you about it.
The HOUSE is perfect for groups. Tons of indoor/outdoor places to sit and relax...as well as areas to peel off for some alone time. The bedrooms were so comfy and the attached bathrooms were clean and tidy. The showers were luxe with hot water always on ready. The kitchen is super well-stocked and the grill worked perfectly. We cooked every day while there. The pool is idyllic and well maintained. The beach was private and the sea water was so crystal clear. Stunning house in a stunning location.
Now, let me tell you about Shanell. She is amazing. She met us at the airport, gave us a tour of the house and was there for any questions that popped up along the way. We were (and you are) in good hands with Shanell managing this property! Thank you for being so great Shanell!
I highly recommend staying at Indigo House if you're ever in Exuma.

The property was very nice. Only recommendation would be to replace the bed in the bedroom to the back without a door and repair the plumbing. But otherwise our stay was amazing.

This house was the perfect house for our family! We had 8 adults, 2 kids and 3 under the age of 2! The access to the beach was wonderful and easy to use! We always had a nice sandy beach except during the one storm at high tide! The water was calm enough that we were comfortable enough to let kids play and even the infants! The house is spacious and it perfect for spreading out. I can not say enough about Shanell! She was always available if we needed anything or any questions answered. I found this house on Facebook a while back and dreamed of coming! So glad we chose this house!

Beautiful property with an open layout and spectacular view.

There are a ton of little flying bugs (mosquito like but smaller) outside and Sand Fleas. We got bit up good!! Wish we would have known coming in. The stores do you have a locally made oil mixture that works before the bugs bite and after the bugs bite. Might want to add that to the house information or have a bottle there at the house so people know. We are from Wisconsin where mosquito's are known to be the "State Bug", we would have brought post bite stuff with us.
We had 13 of us 7 adults and 6 kids (ages 4-12) There was enough room with the air mattresses. You do not need to bring any pool toys or snorkeling gear!! This house is stacked! Shanell is amazing always there when you need her. Location is great! Highly recommend hiring Chef Mama to do at least one Dinner/meal with her, promise you won't regret it! Do it closer to the beginning or middle of your trip because you will have lots of amzaing leftovers!

Nice home, Quiet location & Private Beach. The big island in the kitchen was a great spot to gather around and the rooms were spacious. Each bedroom had an ocean view so no one missed out on the beautiful views.
10.0 / 10.0
Pro: The same amazing view is from EVERY room. The beds are great and the living area is large and comfortable. The private beach access is easy to get to and the house supplies lots of beach toys. Our crew boogie boarded in the strong surf everyday for hours. The kitchen island is huge and there are so many seating options. We loved all the linen/pillow options and extras. The recent renovations are really great.
Con: The floors in the Bahamas always seem to be sticky and this house was no different. We ran some wet towels around to fix it. The patio/deck furniture is not comfortable for more than a few minutes. There is one set with cushions, but the rest by the pool and beach are wood and get really uncomfortable fast. The dishwasher in the kitchen is not secured so you have to hold it when its open to keep it from tipping over and the faucet in the kitchen is very hard to turn on and off. The pans are all chewed up teflon and should be replaced. The grill wouldn't spark even with the handheld fire started we were told to use. The island has routine power outages and a few candles and matches would be helpful for when it happens in the evening.
The cleaning lady that came mid week did a fast and great job. The check-in was easy once we found the property. The road in is super bumpy (get a suv or 4 wheel car). The front of the home is bare and plain and looks kind of like a compound, but once you're out back, you forget about the sterile, plant less drive up appeal.
Overall, we were super pleased with the home. We would definitely rent again because the view and beach access makes up for anything that might bother you. The view is a true wonder!

We had a perfect stay at Indigo. The house is spacious, clean, and everything we needed from the kitchen to the beach was available. The views are unbelievable and the beach was perfect for lounging or water play. We will stay here again if we come back to Exuma!

We spent 6 days here in paradise and this time we rented Indigo House for the first time, we are fans of Little Exumas. The truth is that the house is impressive and we will take it into consideration for our next visits.
The house is super well equipped, the kitchen and the first class utensils, perfect A/C.
The beach depends on the tide and season, sometimes there was no beach with hide tide but we still went in to fight with the waves, we had a great time...It's a beautiful beach
I recommend this house 100% and the only bad thing was not having more days off...

Beautiful home located on a cliff less than 15 min from the airport. Heated pool, great AC, smart tvs in every room, comfortable beds. Home is exactly as pictured.
Direct access to the beach, but water was very rough during our stay. Gorgeous views from every room in the house and from the expansive deck.
10.0 / 10.0
We had a wonderful Tim during our stay; house was clean, and host was super responsive to any questions or items that came up. Pool was absolutely hit with the kids and was pleasantly warm 24/7. Everything in house worked properly, and there was extra propane tank for grill (which came in handy). Overall, it was a beautiful house on an off the beaten path road, and we just as much enjoyed our time there as we did on our excursions. Please know though that for practical purposes, this is an oceanfront property (an amazing one) and not a beachfront property (unless 3 ft of sand against crushing waves is your cup of tea).

Breathtakingly amazing!
Indigo house was amazing! Shanelle was great! She met us at the airport helped with our bags and anything else we needed. The house is very centralized so perfect to go to either side of the island. The breeze of the ocean is amazing and the view is even better. We will be back!

AMAZING!
Our time at the Indigo house was seriously a “trip of a lifetime”. We were 10 adults and 1 toddler and there was more than enough space for all of us to never feel on top of each other. The pool was clutch after spending the day in the ocean and the house was stocked with all the necessities needed to cook (utensils). There are a few convenience stores/corner stores very close by which made runnin out for ice/snacks/liquor really easy. The house manager Shanell was an absolute doll and made sure we were always taken care of. We took advantage of the in home chef, her name is “mama” and she cooked us the most delicious Bahamian dinner the night we arrived. Shanell was so accommodating and she met us at the airport and made sure we had a car seat for our 16 month old revealing with us. I can’t recommend this house enough. It is a vacation we will talk about for the rest of our lives. We will be back indigo house!

What an outstanding experience!
Everything about this house went way beyond expectations. Shanell is an amazing human being and was available 24/7 making our experience a truly unforgettable one. She recommended everything from the boating, chefs, restaurants, etc. Highly recommend staying on this property if you are visiting Exuma.

Fantastic stay
The property was amazing. The view from the deck is the best!!! The home is very clean and spacious. Plenty of room to spread out and relax. Location ideal for getting around both north and south areas of the island. Check in and communication was great with the owners and property manager. Would definitely stay here again if coming back to Exuma.

Wonderful!
We had a wonderful stay at Indigo House. The layout of the house was great with the pool being visible from the main living room area. Kids LOVED the pool! Beach was a little hard to get to for the little ones but the older kids (8yo, 10yo) loved boogie boarding. Definitely get a rental car. Mike's Pizza delivered to the house and was delicious. Beds were so comfortable. The views are insanely beautiful. We hope to return very soon!!!

Spring Break 2022
Everything and then some. Shanell, the property manager, was always available and extremely helpful! The house was fabulous, clean, and in a very convenient location for all the activities on the island. The pool is heated so the kids would go from ocean to pool. They would wake up and swim in the pool and then go boogie boarding in the ocean. The view is spectacular. The house has everything you need and is walk in ready.

Great Family Vacation
The Indigo House was perfect for our vacation. The layout of the house works well for multiple families, the beds are extremely comfortable and the views are amazing. The beach at the property is small but the waves kept the kids entertained for hours. Shanell was extremely responsive and made sure we had everything we needed for our trip. The only suggestions I have for the house are pretty minor. I agree with comments that if the pool was even slightly heated, it would be wonderful. It was pretty windy when we were there so the pool was cold. It would also be great if beach chairs were available. We couldn’t find any on the island to purchase! Again, super minor - everything else is perfect. Thanks for a great week!

This house was perfect for our family! We enjoyed every minute of our stay! The house was just as described online.
Shannell was an amazing concierge. She brought us right to the house as soon as our plane landed and gave us a run down of the property. She helped arrange other events during our stay! Love her!!!!

Great location!
We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful property for our 15 year Anniversary. The views are spectacular, the water pressure is awesome, the beds were comfortable, and the location is great!
With regards to previous reviews on beach access, we had no problem with that! There were stairs that led all the way down to the beach access. With high and low tides, we had beach access our whole stay. We liked that access, but spent most of our time on the patio portion when we were at the house. Our favorite thing to do was to explore a lot of the beach accesses throughout the whole island!
You will no regret your decision to book this beautiful home. Thanks again for being wonderful hosts!

Amazing vacation for family and celebrations!
Had the most amazing time celebrating my 40th birthday at the indigo house! From Shanell greeting us at the airport to the ease of getting groceries delivered, setting up a private chef, a yacht trip to see the pigs and iguanas and snorkel… This was an incredible vacation! Indigo house is well equipped, clean, luxurious, spacious, and has fully updated technology and great Wi-Fi! We loved having morning coffee outside or wine by the pool or exploring the private beach with the boogie boards… It was just an incredible trip from Start To Finish! Indigo house is a no-brainer… Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic stay!
Wow! This was a fantastic vacation. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed (other than a sheet pan for the oven, overhead light dimmers or a few lamps here and there. lol).
The two master suites are on separate ends of the house and the kitchen and living space offers plenty of room for a large group to hang out. Each room has an amazing view and an exit to the deck and pool. The deck is an amazing place to just chill and look out at the beautiful blue water and for star gazing in the evening. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks is delightful!
A few notes though:
*If you arrive on a Sunday afternoon, EVERYTHING will be closed for the most part so have the house stocked before arrival for a stress free evening. Shanelle, the concierge was great at communicating with us. We ran out of propane on the grill and she arrived in no time with a new one for us!
*The beach....there isn't one. If the tide does go out far enough to expose some sand, there's no safe way to get down there. There is a ladder, but no thanks! We ended up exploring so many other beaches that it didn't really matter to us and the pool was very refreshing after arriving back to the house. GO SEE THE TROPIC OF CANCER! Beautiful beach and there's a well stocked bar and food stand there for snacking! It's a drive though. Plenty of other beaches close by as well.
*The power went out 3 times while on the island, but oh well!
All in all, an amazing trip and a great, convenient place to stay. We will be back soon!

Stunning view!
You will never have a backyard like this! Indigo House puts you in a peaceful state of mind as soon as you walk in. The pool and view of the gorgeous water is amazing! The inside carries those colors throughout, with the bathrooms and furniture. The kitchen and ice machine give you everything you need. We loved it and Jill always responded back right away and Shanell was wonderful to work with :)

NO beach access - NO beach - great house itself
We did have a wonderful time at the Farmer’s Hill house. Everything was as described with one gigantic, glaring exception – there is NO beach access and there is no beach.
Upon checking in, we were told by the property manager that we should expect to see service crews / contractors taking measurements to fix the beach steps. Not a great sign. In the few months since opening the house up for reservations, obviously the beach and rock steps have completely eroded away. The only access we were offered was an adjacent 15-foot ladder next to the deck. No one in our group felt like risking their lives trying to use the ladder to get down.
This is not what was advertised or promoted on VRBO. All of the pictures here and on the associated Instagram account for the house show sandy beach access, not a 10-foot drop off the rocks onto more rocks.
One of the photos here says, “The softest sand, feels like flour”. That beach doesn’t exist behind this house anymore. Some of the pictures of the beach are from the neighbor’s property, not this one. Even if you could get down to the rocks, it would have to be during low tide, as the rest of the 20 hours of the day it is fully ocean waves. If anyone expects to get to the beach from this house, you will have to trespass onto the adjoining property, which is likely in violation of VRBO’s guidelines.
When our group was deciding on houses to reserve, we were choosing between three different properties. The other two had very obvious and apparent beach access. However, we picked the Farmer’s Hill house because it ALSO appeared to have easy beach access and was closer to certain parts of the island. If we knew there was no beach access, we would have reserved one of the other houses, no question.
We feel duped by the pictures and would hope that the owners and VRBO take some sort of action to prevent this from happening again to other customers in the future. They should immediately change the picture gallery here and the associated Instagram account. All the beach photos should be removed.
I understand that oceans cause erosion and sand to disappear. Okay. Just please be real clean and upfront about it with your house descriptions.
I hope VRBO would refund some of our rental fee.
Thanks.

Amazing stay
Indigo house and staff were amazing. The house was large enough for 5 adults and 4 children. The views were breathtaking. Each day the kids loved the pool and the waves crash. The was really no beach in front of the property but there is one in walking distance if needed. We got out on the boat each day to find new beaches so didn’t mind this
