The ultimate stay for a “mature” girls weekend. Exceptionally clean and pleasant. Short walk to the public beach where we enjoyed the sunsets. My first Vrbo. I hope future Vrbo stays are as good as this one!

Fantastic house with all the amenities. Close enough to all of the key hotspots (Egg Harbor, Fish Bay, Sturgeon Bay) yet had the seclusion we were looking for. We absolutely loved our stay.

This was our second visit to Idlewild By the Bay and we had a wonderful time. The yard and deck is very quiet and relaxing. Amazingly there weren’t many mosquitoes so we were able to enjoy sitting on the deck. The hosts are very responsive and the house had everything we needed. Definitely returning in the future.

The house was beautifully surrounded by trees on the peninsula. Though you cant see the lake from the house you can definitely hear it. We enjoyed being able to drive into town to eat, shop, and sitesee. The state park was abour 10 mins away as well. The house was easy to find and very clean as well as stocked with day to day things. The cell service was in and out, but we didn't have too much need for it anyway. Our 2 year old had a wonderful time being outside and exploring. We left feeling refreshed and rested. Will definitely be back and refering friends and family.

Beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood. Very clean with absolutely everything you might need. Comfortable beds made for great sleeping. Wrap around deck was nice for enjoying the fresh breeze and watching wildlife (several deer visited every day). Our two doodles also thoroughly enjoyed their trip. Highly recommend this home. Plan to return again.

Beautiful cottage, very clean with everything we needed. Secluded wooded area. Shopping, restaurants, sight seeing about 15 to 20 minute drive which was not always convenient , especially in heavy rain which we experienced for half of our stay. Mother natures fault, not the owners. Found great pet friendly restaurants in Sturgeon Bay with very friendly staff that welcomed our young schnauzer. Unfortunately due to the rainy weather during our visit we did not have the opportunity to enjoy the wrap around deck, grill, or firepit which would have been an added pleasure. Would recommend this cottage for someone who likes a quiet wooded setting for a peaceful escape.

Tom's home is absolutely lovely! Spacious, yet cozy living area, plenty of kitchen space to create meals, comfortable bedrooms and beds, and a generously sized bathroom. Loved, loved that our dog was welcomed! The home is located in a quiet area, amidst towering trees and homes that are set back from the road, providing privacy. We found the neighborhood to be safely walkable and a peek at the bay is within 5 minutes of the house. It takes about an hour and 15 from the house to the Washington Island ferry, furthest north on the Door, with plenty of wonderful stops in between. All that we met were very friendly, making this area a must return in the future! Thank you for a wonderful stay Tom!

Nice house to stay in. We liked walking around the neighborhood and took beautiful pictures at sunset near the water. My only critique is that it would have been nice to have a ramp to enter the house. We had one person that had difficulties with the steps to get in.

This was the perfect cottage for us. It was close enough to Sturgeon Bay but very quiet in the woods. My daughter saw a deer ambling down the road in the early morning. We enjoyed using the grill and sitting on the deck. A very good experience.

We had a great time! The house was perfect for our weekend away. We saw a lot of wildlife right in the front yard too. Great location close to town and peacefully quiet. We will definitely stay here again next time we come up! Host was very accommodating in us bringing our dogs too. Thank you thank you!! We had a wonderful time!

My wife and I enjoy occasional 3-day weekends to Door County and usually try to get a rental "off the beaten path." We decided on this house because the photos indicated it would be very open with a lot of natural light, with views of the woods. We were not disappointed!
The property was clean, the house was warm even though the weekend was quite cold, and we appreciated that it is pet-friendly. We enjoyed reading and cooking together there. It is also only 15-20mn from Sturgeon Bay--far enough out we did not hear much traffic, but close enough to town.
The only frustration was on the day we arrived. We drove up the day after a major snowfall which was followed by several days of cold with subzero windchills--not uncommon in winter. The main roads including I-43 and Hwy 57 were in good condition and the county highways were passable. However, the house is at the top of a hill which was too slippery for our sedan to ascend. Fortunately, we were able to approach from the opposite direction. When we tried to park, we found the driveway/parking area had been plowed but had not been salted or was lightly salted. Our car had difficulty turning on the ice and ended up impacted into a snowbank. We were able to get it out ourselves the next morning and parked the second night in an alternate parking area that the owner recommended. The owner was very responsive when contacted and did follow up the next day.
Overall, very bright, clean, and warm rental. Thank you!

Upon first entering the property, we immediately noticed how clean the house was, especially being dog friendly! The kitchen is well-stocked and the sleep number bed made for restful nights. The property itself is quiet and wooded for privacy. While not in the heart of Door County, it's close enough that we weren't bothered... it was nice to escape some of the hustle and bustle. Will definitely stay here again!

My best friend and our husbands took a weekend trip to Door County and stayed at the Idlewild Hideaway. The cabin was beautiful, the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals, and there was a beautiful outdoor area on the deck to enjoy the scenery. Tom was great about communication. We even got to enjoy the weekend with our dogs. I would highly recommend the Idyllwild hideaway to anyone and we hope to come back to stay again soon.

This property was fantastic! The owner even included snacks for our stay! It was very clean and well kept. We loved the gas fire pit! Loved the fact that we were very close to the Sherwood Light House!

Easy to get to. You are south of all the Door County locations so you are driving to get to the popular destinations. But you also miss all the traffic if leaving on a Sunday. Definitely recommend this place to stay.

We definitely enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and we felt right at home. It was a joy to come “home” every night after site seeing every day. Our elderly dog even felt right at home.

We loved this beautiful home equipped with everything we needed, set in a wooded enclave and just a short walk to the lakefront public access. Comfy beds, games to play, a cozy fire pit and wrap around deck. Just a short car ride to quaint Sturgeon Bay and Door County, and when you return to home base it’s so peaceful. Highly recommend!

It was a great stay in a wonderful house. It is quite and relaxing tucked away in the woods.

This home was at a convenient location to all the must do's of Door County while still being secluded from the touristy chaos.
We were near all the big box stores for the forgotten things and less than an hour away from Sister's Bay, Peninisula State Park etc.
Our only issue was the power going out the first night, due to weather, so there was no cell/wifi service. It was restored over the night and survived being disconnected just fine.

House was excellent .. and the property it sits on. Beautiful wooded lot ! Interiors like new super clean and comfortable stylish decor. Deck space killer and the bonfire area great . I walked in that place and said, WOW ! 😊 will book here again.

Idlewild's hideaway is a picturesque home with a relaxing view from every side. A beautiful wooded vacation home located on one of the Door County peninsula's, peninsula... Idlewild. Three sides of beautiful close to the action but far enough away to just have some peace for as long as you need. All the amenities of home like a beautiful kitchen, warm cozy family room and a neat loft, with a large bedroom. It was a very nice experience. We took walks to the shoreline and watched the sunset. Thank you for the stay! We appreciate what you have here and will tell others. Until we meet again!

We have been going up to Door County for years, and this year we wanted something right by the water and a bit more secluded. This was truly our best trip up there yet! The house is absolutely beautiful, extremely clean, and has everything you could possibly need. The location is wonderful, as it is nestled in the woods (we saw deer, wild turkeys, great horned owls and many other birds), is a short walk from the lake (stunning views!), and is an easy drive into Sturgeon Bay, Potowatomi State Park, Cave Point, and Door County. Tom was delightful to work with and was super helpful and responsive. We will definitely be back next year and would highly recommend for anyone headed up to Door County!!

The house and location were great. The house had all the amenities we needed for our week away from home.

Wonderfully kept, clean, roomy home in a secluded location about 10 mins from town. Perfect for a family get away. All the amenities including a nice grill and fire pit. Perfect for bbq and relaxing. We enjoyed walking around the area and seeing the sites. Would highly recommend to anyone! Was able to work remotely using thier high speed wifi. We will be back!

House is located a short walk to the water and the lighthouse on a very quiet street. ALao about 10 minutes away from Potawatomi State Park and the Ice Age Trail.
Enjoyed relaxing in the cozy family room with views from every angle. Kitchen and bathroom very well equipped.
There were only two of us and the dog but it would easily sleep six.

Very nice place for anything you would like to do in Sturgeon Bay. Jim was great to deal with and rent from!
Thank you, Jim!

The cabin was extremely nice and well stocked. The location was great except that it was across the street from the lake and had properties on the other side so we did not have direct access to the lake to take ice fishing gear directly out. Would definitely stay again in the future with the nice accommodations for our family group of six.
