PARKING
We have a small garage located at the back of the property which can be used. It can comfortably accommodate a smaller sized car (VW Golf or similar), however, it is not tall enough to fit SUV's, minivans, larger estate cars or trucks.
My suggestion is, if your car matches the sizes briefly explained above, to leave your car on the road out the front, get all your luggage in, then take it round to our garage. The garage is accessed from inside the house by walking through the kitchen and down the little steps. once you walk down the 6 steps, you will see the garage door, please open and the electric button for the garage door is on the wall on the left-hand side as you walk through the door. This will open the garage.
As you walk out the front door of 71E Bellevue Pl, the access to our garage is approx 100m to the right of the property as you walk out (towards Lake Michigan) Just before 1000 N Lake Shore Plaza there is a tight turn to right, which will take you down the private road behind our house to the garage. 100m up that road you will find the garage.
We do not have permits for the street.
There are multiple multi-storey car parks all within a 10min walk of the property. The prices vary from $30-60 per day depending on proximity to the property. There are also useful websites like spotwhiz online which have road-side parking spots to rent.
Other Things to Note:
Please do not attempt to enter the basement unit, it is a separate entity.
Parties of any size are not allowed. We retain a £1k deposit for any unsolicited parties or events.

Beautiful space in a charming neighborhood, with easy access to the key places in the city. This is a unique space that worked for all of us. We really enjoyed our visit.

Gorgeous, large townhouse. We loved the location and the townhouse itself.
The lock box was a little confusing because there are 2. In the age of door codes, I wasn’t expecting this.
Another word of note: the staircase is old and the wood is worn on some places. If you have small children or someone who is unstable on their feet you might want to consider this.

The Richmond house was exactly as expected and in a beautiful, clean and safe area of Chicago.

The is a beautiful historic home in a prime location just off Magnificent Mile. The home was clean and spacious. The garage was a plus. The house is conveniently located in the heart of Chicago with easy access to all Chicago’s neighborhoods. Gibson’s Steakhouse and the Original House of Pancakes are on the same street and both were hits with my teenagers.
Communication with the property manager was timely and he made it easy to check in and out. I would highly recommend this property for your next trip to Chicago.

We were here from new jersey, virginia and indiana for my sons wedding it was absoluey fantastic awesome location and very cozy

The house is really great as is the location. I generally find that AirBNB/VRBO properties tend to be much worse in reality than they seem in the listing, but I actually think they undersell this property.
Giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the messaging from the host after booking until check in. Host was very serious about no parties/events (we had no intention of this) and that post-10pm (the listing says 11pm, feels like bait and switch) must be quiet, and if not the host will call private security/evict you/shut off power and water. These are pretty serious measures to throw around and made me feel very uneasy despite having no intention of having a party. Perhaps they did have a bad experience in the past but threat of eviction/shutting off power and water is too serious unless I would have broken some law with the noise, but the mention of private security made me feel that the bar for "noise" could be unreasonably low.

The perfect home, the perfect host and the perfect location. Our family time in Chicago set in this one in a lifetime rental made the weekend all the more magical. 5 stars!

I had thought about leaving a bland “this place is good” type review, however those are all the reviews that I read when booking this place, and wish I had some more honest input given the price. The place is in a great location. There was awesome communication up until the actual rental started, and the owner even reimbursed us for some purchases when we said we wanted beach chairs! It was looking to be a really great trip. Upon arrival, the cleaning crew / house manager was there (we arrived a little early). We were then informed that the toilet on the second floor was broken. At first I thought no big deal, they said it would be fixed in a day. The toilet was covered with a black trash bag, which just felt a bit gross, but we still were excited. We then realized that half of the stove burners weren’t working, and the ovens were quite unpredictable. Additionally, there was old food in the stove knobs, crusted in there, and it was clear no one had really made an attempt to clean them. I contacted the house manager and she continued to respond regarding the toilet, but did not address the stove / oven issue. The house was also extremely hot. This is July in Chicago, and the AC really only works on the 3rd floor. And even then, the small top room with bunk beds got zero air flow and was unbearably hot. The other room up there was freezing due to us trying to crank the air to keep the rest of the house cool. The AC never really reached the 2nd or 1st floors, so we constantly repositioned the one fan that was in the house depending on where we were. The back room of the kitchen was an obvious extension, which was fine, but again it was so hot it was hard to be in there. That is where the tv is, and many of the tv hookups weren’t connected and we struggled to be able to watch anything (even when trying to log into our own apps). The sofa and chair were quite disgusting with stains and hair all over them. We had planned to cook multiple meals & were unable to do so. lack of response from the property manager regarding the state of the kitchen was quite frustrating. The house itself is old, which we had expected, but it doesn’t appear to have been maintained given the state of the kitchen and bathrooms. At one point the property manager asked us if we left the water running because the basement was flooded. We hadn’t. But they insisted they had to come in. During that time, neither the kitchen nor bathroom / toilet situation were addressed.

As a whole everything was great. We stayed as a family (all adults) to run the Chicago Half Marathon. Location was perfect and very convenient for both the race and to enjoy shopping and eating out. However, upon arrival there were dirty sheets in the bathtub as well as towels and sheets in the washer and dryer. It was clear that the cleaning staff did not finish cleaning on time. Thankfully, they were very receptive and offered to come take care of things upon messaging. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay!

small group of 3-4 coworkers in town for a McCormick Place product show - Second time renting this VRBO for such an occasion. Much less expensive than individual hotels and just a half block from Rush Street restaurants.
This VRBO would also be great for families of four or more.
5.0
Unbeatable location, lovely separate sitting areas, well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, a feeling of homey luxury.
We were five childhood friends getting together for a long weekend. Space worked well, though would be *even* better for families or couples due to bedroom arrangements (three couples plus kids in the bunk room, for example). Cabinets had coffee, sugar, basic spices, fridge clean and clear for our grocery delivery. Lots of rules and notes about things like quiet hours and using makeup towels vs. white towels posted around the house, which made it feel like someone's home even though I think it's a management company. We giggled about this, thinking they must have had some strange guests in the past. We would stay again, no hesitation.
Accommodated our slightly early arrival/bag drop. Easy entry and exit.

Our group was very impressed with the rental house. The location was walkable to area restaurants and downtown attractions. Julian and the staff communicated clearly and quickly with any questions we had. I would highly recommend this property to others.

Plenty of room for 5-7 adults. Unit even has three roll away beds. Great kitchen gathering space
Best location it’s a nine iron to Rush street and a ten minute walk to water tower.

The perfect place for my bridesmaids and I to get ready the morning of my wedding! So much space and beautifully decorated. Plus the natural light was perfect for pictures! Highly recommend.

Great location to visit Chicago. Beautiful house just north of Michigan ave. Very clean and roomy with nice furniture and amenities. It is a great value if you use most of the bedrooms. We would have had to pay for 3 hotel rooms to duplicate our experience and would not have nearly the room we did. The garage and back alley are small but we were able to get our small toyota in the garage which was nice. I would use this property again.

Huge lovely property we didn’t even get to enjoy because Chicago kept us so busy. Only there two days, would have liked to stay longer and be less busy.

We were so happy with our stay. The property is sooooo pretty. Even better than the pictures. Great location. So fun. Very comfortable. Great location.
3.0
This is an impressive building, built in 1881. It is in an expensive and prestigious part of Chicago, and a good value. The age of the townhome and the construction on the street mean that it is not squeaky clean, but the charm of the architecture and the location make up for that.
My problem is with the listing, which states it has 4 full bathrooms. That is not correct. There is a bathroom on the third floor, a bathroom on the second floor, and a half bath (only toilet and sink) on the main floor. Unclear why VRBO allows this mistake to stand.
THE TOILET ON THE SECOND FLOOR HAS BEEN BROKEN since at least July 10 when another reviewer flagged it. It was still broken when I checked in on July 29 and not usable for our entire stay.
There is a basement studio suite with access to the garage, thus access to the townhome. Not sure why VRBO allows such a security breach.
Most guests rave about the location, which no doubt accounts for the many five-star reviews.

Disappointed
Besides the location of the property not much else to be desired. Upon check we noticed several items or concern. Items of concern include a garbage bag over the second floor non functioning toilet, un-vacuumed carpets/rugs, no dishwasher tabs, no kitchen garbage bags, dead bugs and cob webs in the windows, no shades/blinds in the master bedroom, burnt out light bulbs in lamps, non functional TVs, and two busted knobs on the kitchen stove. Theses were communicated to the property manager immediately and we did not receive a response until after our stay was complete and we had returned home. Very disappointed in our stay here.

We loved the location and we loved the house but when we got there we discovered that the toilet in the bathroom on the second floor was not functional and could not be used. It was actually very inconvenient the way the house was set up to not have a working toilet by the bedrooms. I wish we had been notified about this problem. Beside that problem the house was great. Very large and very spread out. We would Absolutely stay again but hope the toilet situation has been fixed.

House was wonderful. Very close to everything. We did have some small house issues that were resolved very quickly. It would have been helpful to have a local number to call before the stay or in the welcome book. . House keeper ( Gloria) was wonderful, made us feel welcomed, and very accommodating. as was the property managers once we connected.

The townhome is lovely and spacious! My husband and I hosted our 2 adult children for a mini family reunion in Chicago and this property was just perfect. The location is amazing; close to restaurants and shopping. We walked everywhere from the property and never needed to take a cab. The house is finely decorated and there are great spaces to relax and spend time together. We cooked dinner one night and found everything we needed in the kitchen. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to staying again if we have occasion to be in Chicago!

Mag mile location. Quick walk to lake trail via nearby underpasses. Easy walk to main tourist areas (river, towers, navy pier, the bean, museums) and plenty of restaurants and parking nearby. Great for family, extended family, or groups of friends.
