About this house rental
Cedar Chalet is a 3 bdrm / 3 ba house on a private, wooded lot overlooking Frenchmen's Bay. Exceptionally large windows offer water views from almost every room. The large deck is a quiet, relaxing spot to watch the sunset at the end of the day or enjoy coffee in the morning with the eagles flying overhead.
Ocean access is via a private boardwalk we share with our log cabin, a quick 3 min walk downhill. From here you may see seals feeding in the bay. Kayaks can be launched from here.
The house has an open concept with kitchen, living room and dining area together. It is a great spot for families and friends to spend time together. The house underwent a large renovation including a new kitchen, living area, bathroom, bedroom and deck in 2021.
There are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the second floor and has a spectacular view of the water. on the main floor, the bedroom can be set up as two twin extra long beds or converted to a king size bed, The main floor bedroom is perfect for those with mobility issues or children. Other than the three steps from the driveway to the porch, all the common spaces are located on the main floor. Even the lower level has water views through the large windows downstairs! A second master bedroom with a king size bed is here along with a second living room that has a premium queen size sleeper sofa when extra sleeping space is needed.
7 day minimum from 5/28-10/26(Saturday - Saturday).
We have an outdoor security camera located near the driveway.
We also own the log cabin (the sole other house on the road). It is a great opportunity for two larger families to be close by and enjoy a very peaceful, nature rich vacation- Bar Harbor Log Cabin #2588174. It is a location like no other.
Cedar Chalet - a place to truly unwind, the antidote to busy lives.

House was spotless. View was fantastic. Beds comfy (even the pullout). The house has everything you’ll need, including games and toys and books for kiddos if you have. We spent most evenings on the porch enjoying the view and sunset and most days in Acadia which is a short 15/20 min drive away

Wonderful home with spectacular views! This house was a home away from home for our family of 5. A short drive to downtown Bar Harbor and several trails in Acadia national park. The kids enjoyed being so close to the water and walking down and watching the sun set every night. Great communication with host Jamie. We will definitely be back in the future!

The Cedar Chalet was the perfect spot for our family vacation to Maine. It is in a secluded spot with a gorgeous view while also conveniently located to Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor. Jamie was the best host and so helpful before & during our stay. Highly recommend!

The Cedar Chalet is wonderful. The place is clean, well decorated, and a lovely place to share time. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and reminded us of a nice hotel, especially the linens! The kitchen has all the amenities you need for cooking and sharing meals. Jamie is a very attentive host and she checked in via text, before and during our visit to make sure we were happy. I highly recommend this home and would stay here again.

We had an amazing time staying at the Cedar Chalet. The home was beautiful and clean! Jamie has thought of every comfort and convenience for the stay. Jamie was a fabulous as the home! Sending messages before the trip on things to do as well as letting us know the most convenient was to grocery shop. So many things to say about the chalet and Jamie! We hope to get back there soon!

There home has an absolutely amazing view and is very comfortable. It was very clean and was the perfect home base for me, my husband and two toddlers(1 and 3) to unwind after hiking, going to the beach and finding all the local playgrounds. They also loved running around the deck and playing with the toy train track. It is about 20 mins from Acadia but there were a few road closures which might have caused this and there are a lot of food/activities close by(within a 5-10 min drive). I would highly recommend this as a quiet, relaxing get away

This is a terrific property. Very clean, the most well supplied kitchen I’ve ever rented (extra paper towels, plenty of dish washer pods, every spice you could ask for etc), lovely first level master suite, larch porch overlooking the bay with furniture and a grill, laundry detergent, extra TP, plenty of towels, large bottles of shampoo…all little things that make SUCH a big difference.
The location is 20 minutes from basically anywhere on the island and very convenient to Bar Harbor and the main grocery store on the island. Try Sweet Peas cafe a few minutes away! Jaime is a very communicative host. Stop looking and BOOK IT!

The Chalet was a great place to stay. The Host was ultra-accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The location is quiet and close enough to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The best part is looking through the giant windows leading onto the deck overlooking the water and going down to explore the shore.

We had a wonderful time in the chalet, first as a couple and then enjoyed it with friends over the weekend. Very comfortable. The amazing view of the ocean was a delight by day and the stars were breath taking to behold during the night. Hoping to go back in the summertime.

Jamie is as great of a host as you’ll find. The cabin is phenomenal, it’s clean as can be and is in a very secluded area. We felt at home the entire nine days we were there. Jamie provided us with all kinds of information about the island, restaurants and hike’s around MDI. I’m not so sure that the pictures do justice to the beauty of this place. We hope to come back next year.

This is an excellent property on Mount Desert Island. Jamie was great to work with. There was a tropical storm headed for the area when I was supposed to check in. She provided regular and timely updates.
The property is stunning and well equipped.

The house was perfect for my wife and me, my daughter her husband and their 2 sons, ages 4 & 8.
Our host is well organized complete handy w/caretaker if something goes on the fritz. Precise helpful instructions to the inner workings and quirks of the house are in a small notebook and check in and check out was a breeze.
The house is well stocked w/paper products, condiments(May have been left over from prior guests), cleaning supplies, you name it. So it’s essentially turn key…don’t go to the market until you check through the house. It even is stocked w/toys and games as well as books.
Perfect distance from the park and Bar Harbor and secluded enough for serenity.
Has many stairs which is the only downside for me because of a leg disability which requires a cane..otherwise this house is perfect.
Oh and the deck is to die for..spent 2 days soaking up sea air, Sun, and pleasant breeze. Enjoy!

The house was perfect for our family. Accurately described in the listing. The view of sunsets from the deck was amazing. Check- in process was simple and the house was super-clean and comfortable with quality bedding and plenty of towels. Jamie was responsive when we had questions. We appreciated the welcome gift and the binder with suggestions for restaurants and things to do was helpful. We hope to rent the property again on our next visit.

The chalet had everything we were looking for in a family vacation for 3 adult couples. Each couple had our own bedroom and bathroom. There was lots of space to spread out inside and out. We loved watching the sunset from the deck! The kitchen had just about everything we needed. The views were beautiful. It was easy to get to everything we wanted to do on MDI. The host responded quickly to questions and requests. There was lots of room for each couple to park a car. Having a washer and dryer as well as a dishwasher was wonderful.
One thing to be aware of: The wonderful windows on the water side of the chalet mean that the rooms facing that side are flooded with light. That includes the upstairs bedroom, which has translucent glass doors closing it off from the 1st floor. That wasn't a problem for us, but if light bothers you, bring a sleep mask.

Everything was perfect, they even had toys to entertain my 3 kids there so that was an extra bonus. The view was beautiful and the beach was fun to explore!

We very much enjoyed our stay. The views of the bay were wonderful. The chalet is very clean, comfortable, and well-decorated. The host is fantastic and provides great communication. We plan to stay here again when we return to Maine. Access to the beach is a short walk and the beach is truly lovely; the hill to get there is steep, so maybe not accessible for folks with mobility issues. I wouldn't recommend the chalet for folks with toddlers or infants because of the steep interior stairs and balconies, but it was great for our teen and preteen.

We truly enjoyed our stay at 32 Tree Top. The location was a beautiful hide-a-way with dense forest and lush green moss but also a wonderful view of the water front. Only a few minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park making this a perfect place for us. We thank you for being so kind and making sure our stay was very enjoyable. Would love to do it all over again.

The house location, view and access to a beautiful beach to hunt the tidepools was great. Overall a very nice stay and Jamie was very responsive about any questions we had. House is mostly clean aside from a few cobwebs in some very high up places.
A few things prevent me from giving it a 5. The biggest issue was that the ceiling fan light cover broke when we turned on the fan in the main level bedroom and a few chunks of glass rained down. It broke in a weird circular pattern so was likely just a stress fracture or something that no one could have known about. Jamie was very apologetic, but it basically rendered one of the 3 bedrooms (one of the reasons we booked the place) useless for the trip since we didn't want to step on glass. So had to spend 5 nights with my kid's feet in my back.
The other minor issue was that the water line hookups on the W/D are installed backwards. Not a huge deal except if you are washing something delicate. We figured this out quickly, so were able to set it to "Hot" to get a cold wash. But all the rinse cycles are by default cold, so really came out scalding hot and no way around it.
A few of the kitchen utensils were rusty (lobster crackers) and could use some updating.
All in all, a good time and enjoyed our stay. PS - for anyone wondering, the farmers market, bird and calm puzzles have all of their pieces!

All communication was first rate! From pre-stay to departure questions, Jamie was fast and helpful. The property was a perfect stay for family to enjoy one another's company. There is no want for any amenity at The Cedar Chalet. It was a wonderful location for our off season hiking, exploration, and local dining. Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your beautiful home.

We went with family to the Cedar Chalet. We had always wanted to visit Maine and this home was perfect for us. The layout was good for us, although odd that there isn’t a door to the loft. We loved the road down to the water and the view out the window. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. We loved it there, and although we didn’t have our kids with us, we thought it was kid-friendly. There weren’t many places open to eat or explore, but the great outdoors and fabulous views were sufficient to make for an enjoyable time.

It was like walking into a page of a home living magazine. Everything was very fresh and clean, the decor was very inviting, and the view from the living room windows was a selling point. The host was very prompt in her responses and made sure everything was taken care of. She even checked in on us and gave us advice on the incoming nor'easter that we experienced during our stay. We will definitely be returning in the future and fully recommend to anyone searching for the perfect getaway. Thank you!

This beautiful home in a incredible setting was the perfect place for my family and I to take a relaxing winter vacation. The house came with everything we could have needed - including tons of toys that kept my 2 year old nephew busy (which obviated the need for my mom to pack a wooden train set in her carry-on, haha). Jamie, the host, was communicative and super helpful throughout our stay- especially when bad weather was predicted for the tail end of our week. Highly recommend this property for anyone traveling to Bar Harbor/Acadia!

We stayed here with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 1/2 year old grandson for 4 days before Christmas. Our son and family live nearby so the location was perfect. The property is in a beautiful location. The weather was rainy and then turned quite cold so we didn’t have an opportunity to go down to the ocean at all but the view from the chalet is very nice with the ocean out the window.
Every area was wonderfully CLEAN! The house was nicely decorated. Everything worked—heat, water, lights, etc., which doesn’t always happen. Beds were warm and comfy! Kitchen pans and dishes were also very good. Having 3 levels might have been hard with a little one but we kept an eye on him and it was never a problem. There were toys and books available which we really appreciated. Jamie was very good about checking in to make sure everything was ok. We would absolutely stay here again!
