The property is very tired and unloved
Not worth the price

Very friendly staff, notably Agnes!
Breakfast; my omelette had too much fat and cheese and over cooked too.
But great selection of breakfast menu!

We booked this hotel which was quite close to the venue for my sister's wedding. The room was very spacious with a double bed and single bed which was extremely comfortable. Agnes the host was incredible, what a woman who turned her hand to everything and worked really hard. It had snowed quite a bit the night before and she was up clearing the snow first thing in the morning. This was in addition to make sure that everyone was happy and comfortable and enjoying their breakfast in the morning. She just continued to go the extra mile (you will know what we mean Agnes) and nothing was too much trouble. It is a pleasure to experience such great customer service in this day and age. We would recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning - thank you :)
Can't think of a single thing

There was nothing I didn’t like

The house and garden was very pretty. there is a large fish pond in the garden and the manager included all children in feeding the beautiful Koi and telling us about them.

The hotel was very near to Alton Towers where we spent two days. A lovely location, the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The cleanliness and facilities were excellent and I would strongly recommend it. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Absolutely nothing needs to be improved. It met all our expectations.

Overall we had a good stay. Close proximity to theme park we visited. Clean and tidy place.
Helpful advices from the owner. Thank you.
The only suggestion for improvement would be to share details of the car park which visitors could use on Sat nav or map applications to locate it easily while driving. We missed it at first. Not a big deal and no impact on stay.

Very attentive hosts that made sure we were looked after. Breakfast was lovely and served promptly, alongside a range of pastries and pancakes. The room had a lovely view of the garden and pond, and was very clean. It had a big private car park, in a small town with a few pubs, takeaways and shops. Alton towers is only a few miles away and within easy driving range.
Our bed was very squeaky, and wasn't extremely comfortable. We struggled to sleep on the first night because of both of these reasons. The bathroom light was automatic, and turned on when you were in the bathroom. However, if you had a long shower it would turn off as it couldn't sense you in the shower so you'd have to swing your arm out to turn it back on, and with no option to turn the light off/down it blinded us in the middle of the night if using the bathroom.

Excellent cooked breakfast choice
Pillows were on the firm side.

We were looked after in an exceptional way. The host gave us a courtesy call to ask our ETA and how the drive was.
Everything was organized, we ordered our breakfast days in advance so we could just walk down to breakfast and it takes 5 minutes. the service was so personal and lovely.
The room was cosy, it was clean and tidy. The bathroom had a motion sensor light which switched off after about 10 minutes and that was quite funny in the shower.
Only thing I wasn't too keen on was the mattress. Maybe it was because I was too light but I felt that it was just too hard for me. I didn't really get a good sleep on it because it was like being on a brick and my husband who weighs more than I do obviously said it was lumpy. And the bed frame was incredibly squeaky so you woke the other person up when you shuffled but that was the only complaint we had and we didn't want to because the gentleman looking after us was so lovely!

Awesome breakfast.
Bathroom door was kind of stuck and noisy.

The owner was just lovely and the place itself ticked all our boxes.

Reception, breakfast (continental), bed.
Having booked a smaller bedroom, I was still disappointed with the quality of the shower, very weak flow of water.
4.3
The location and the breakfast
horrible beds, dirty bathroom, window could not be closed. Smelly run down place. Can not recommend for £160. maybe £100 but deffo not £160

Peter, the host, was friendly. The property itself was well kept with the garden area being particularly pleasant.
The room was clean and had everything you would expect, though slightly dated in it's decor and facilities.
The breakfast ! Dried up eggs and beans, and I would have expected better quality sausages....

The breakfast as always is delicious. Full english cooked to order, fresh juices, fruit and yoghurts. A fresh pot of tea or coffee. A fabulous way to start your day.
Nothing. We have stayed here a number of times and are always very happy with the welcome we recieve when we arrive.

Good location and ample parking.
Breakfast too early and notice to be given the day before. I much prefer a buffet style breakfast.

Peter, the manager is a perfect host, very personable, lovely man. He made us feel welcome and even phoned us to make sure we knew where to park properly, perfect directions as the property is in Cheadle town centre.
Excellent for Alton Towers, you're not far away, and good size room for four of us (2 adults, 2 children with individual single beds, not sofa beds). If you need a place to eat, shops and Wheatsheaf is only 4 minutes walk away.
The grounds are exceptionally lovely as you see in the photos - very pleasant and the included cooked breakfast is a lovely touch.
We arrived on one of the hottest days of the summer, heat was unbearable at night in our room. I didn't sleep at all, I could barely breathe. Aware of the weather ahead of time, I booked any 4-star or above place I could find. This property is registered as a four star. Unfortunately it is not a four star, which is the only reason this has a poor review for the deception, otherwise I would have rated it full points. I had been driving literally all day and I really could have done with a good night's sleep.
A four star should have air conditioning, this does not. There was a very old, noisy portable fan in the room which did nothing to cool any of us down. Checking in desk closes early evening, so we couldn't even ask for another fan.
Although clean, the accommodation has a 'motel' feel to it, everything from the carpet to the doors, fittings, handles, bathroom screams 3* to you. There's a time and a place to go 3* and the hottest night of the year is not one of them. So we were annoyed we felt conned into booking what we thought was a 4*, when this is most certainly a 3* guest house. We've travelled endlessly for 30 years, so we know what we're looking at!
Suffice to say, driving several hours back to London next day after Alton Towers with two children in the car and no sleep is not recommended.
A great shame overall, however the breakfast was rather exquisite.

Beautiful gardens and lovely rooms. Very polite and respectful owners and breakfast was delicious. We liked the ordering in advance for quick service. Staff were also able to swap the bread for sourdough as my partner can’t have wheat. They were great about this!
Only a small couple of things - the room was very hot so a fan would be a really nice addition and the bed was a bit hard for my liking. But nothing that would make me not want to visit again!
