About this house rental
2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 5
The '46er' chalet is named for those who have summited the 46 highest peaks in the Adirondacks, a longstanding ADK Park challenge and athletic tradition.
This charming chalet is well-equipped and well-oriented in a quiet, private setting. Tranquil and forested, the property enjoys views of Esther and Whiteface Mountains, both 46ers at over 4000 ft.
At the 46er, you'll find the warmth and comfort of home, brimming with cozy-cabin style and amenities. The chalet has been completely remodeled with hardwood floors, skylights, granite countertops, updated kitchen appliances and a fireplace insert.
Nestled on a hillside, our classic A frame looks out on the Stephenson Range and Whiteface Mt., which is just two miles away. This storied Olympic mountain has been voted the Best Ski Center in the North East, and is typically open from mid-November into April. In the warmer months, Whiteface offers mountain biking, gondola rides and special events. Additional world-class mountain biking trails are accessed from nearby Hardy Road. Enjoy a lovely afternoon on nearby Lake Everest, canoeing and swimming at the town beach, or visiting the spectacular Wilmington Flume Falls. If you love fly-fishing, you can't find a better location. Less than a mile away is the West Branch of the Ausable River which is famous for its wily trout! Wilmington is, indeed, an outdoor enthusiast's mecca.
Other nearby ventures include taking a drive to the top of Whiteface Mt. on the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway, a visit to "Santa's Workshop" children's theme park, or a stop at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge. All right out your front door in Wilmington!
Lake Placid Village, with all that it has to offer, is just ten beautiful miles away on one of the most picturesque roads in the Adirondacks. Here you can enjoy shopping, dining, arts and crafts, music, museums, The Olympic Center, golf, horse shows, movies, festivals, nightlife---all the hustle and bustle of this lively Olympic Village.
Back at the chalet, so much awaits...
First you'll encounter the large, wrap around deck which sports Adirondacks chairs, an outdoor dining area and new grill. Don't be surprised at the occasional chickadee that will eat from your hand! You may not get much further for awhile, caught up in the meditative mountain view.
The hot tub invites you for that relaxing dip after a day on the trails. In the evening, have a seat by the stone ringed campfire for s'mores and stories--a magical place to be!
While the chalet can sleep up to 5, please keep in mind that the living space is a total of 800 sq. ft. so guests may find it more comfortable with 4 or fewer folks. Also note, the roomy loft bedroom is accessed by a somewhat steep staircase, typical for A frame construction.
**note: we also require that our tenants complete a standard rental agreement with this booking**

The weather was perfect, and we had a chance to see so much in the area. The house is charming with many sweet appointments. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

Well kept cabin within striking distance of ADK trails

This adorable A Frame is right in the woods. Despite other houses nearby it feels like you’re the only ones around. The stairs up are steep, but easily navigated. The view is amazing. The hot tub was so perfect at night!
The home itself is so clean. And it is so well stocked. You need it? It is there! Pizza pan? Hair dryer? First aid? You got it! Spices, all the little things you forget to bring are there. And it is so clean. So so clean! The little bits & pieces used to decorate the kitchen were my favorite touches. We loved the books. There’s tons of games, too.
The water pressure in the shower was great. Tons of hot water, too.
There is one problem. My hubby fell in love with the Adirondack Lean-to in the back yard & now we are going to have to build one! Darn it!
We would whole heartedly recommend this home!
Oh! The owners are amazing! We had a few little questions & they were answered quickly & kindly.

It’s always a great trip when visiting the 46’er chalet!

This is the second time we've stayed at this property, and it really is great. It's close enough to Lake Placid and Keene to make getting around easy, while being far enough out that it really does feel quite private. The cabin is incredibly charming and put us into vacation mode instantly. Highly recommended!

Just got back from our stay at the 46er Chalet. Couldn’t ask for a better location - this is minutes from the foot of Whiteface ski area and fifteen minutes or so from the Village of Lake Placid. The cozy cabin had everything we needed! We would gladly stay here again.

We love the 46er. Just a great, classic A-frame. May seem tiny but packs a big punch with everything ypu and your family could need. We've stayed here before and will be back again.
Thank you.

We recently stayed at the "46er Chalet". What a beautiful little chalet. It was just perfect for my husband & myself, along with our little dog. I gave it the 3 C's, Clean, Comfortable & Cozy! Fully stocked with all you could possibly need. Only 2 miles from Whiteface Mountain. We truly loved the Hot Tub & the indoor fireplace. Wonderful is all I can think to say. We will definitely be back.

We really loved our stay. Amazing location, amazing views, and loved how cozy it was. We stayed to snowboard a few days on Whiteface and were surprised just *how* close we were to the mountain (5min drive). After a day on the mountain, the hot tub was the perfect treat to get back to. The home itself was comfortable to lounge in, play cards by the fireplace, and they had a few board games for us to choose from as well which we enjoyed. The house was neat and moderately clean (a few hairs in the shower) but nothing that would change our experience.
Overall great stay and we look forward to returning!

Had an amazing time visiting the area and having this nice cozy place to come back to. House had everything we needed, and a hot tub for the sore legs after a long days of hiking. Owners were very good at communicating and or helping with any issues. All we had to bring was ourselves and food. The rest was on hand for our use. Location was super convenient to the trails and lake placid.

We used the place as home base for hiking for several days. Great location! Very comfortable quarters and the kitchen was one of the most thoughtfully stocked kitchens we have experienced! Thank you for listing. We’d love to return!

We had a great time as a family of 4. The home is a small, adorable A-frame with limited space, but very cozy. We really enjoyed the hot tub and peaceful outdoors. Location was a gorgeous short drive from Lake Placid. Hosts were also very responsive! Would love to come and visit in the winter!!

We just returned from a great stay! The house is exactly as pictured. It is charming, comfortable and well stocked. There are charming touches everywhere. The hosts were communicative and great to work with. The location is beyond superb. Hiking trails, river access, Whiteface Mountain and Lake Placid all within 20 minutes or so. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay! Can’t wait to return next summer.

The 46er is the perfect match for our small family in Wilmington - this was our 5th stay in the A Frame. Inside is comfortable, front porch is perfect for relaxing, hot tub and fire pit complete the package. Wonderful hosts as well. 5 stars.

This is our fourth stay at the 46er,and we will be back. The property is wonderful and serene with great details and everything you need right there. Elizabeth and Andrew were kind enough to let us extend our stay on short notice. They are fantastic hosts and very attentive to messages and guests needs. I can't put in to words how pleased we are with the 46er and the hosts. We will be back, thank you for your hospitality.

My husband and I along with our two girls (6 and 8) had another great winter weekend getaway at the 46er! We even brought our pup this time! It is always comfortable and cozy with all the amenities needed - and always appreciate the sweet check-in gift! We grabbed a few groceries on the way in and were able to cook most of our meals. Spent a day at Whiteface skiing / snowboarding, hiked High Falls Gorge on their last winter weekend, enjoyed time in the hot tub at the start and end of the day, and relaxed after dinner by a nice fire in the cabin. Elizabeth checked in about some snow in the forecast while we were there which was nice. Thanks Elizabeth and Andrew for another nice family weekend at your cabin! We'll be back!!

We absolutely loved our stay at the 46er. So clean, beds comfortable, quick (beautiful) drive into lake placid. Kitchen well stocked with all the necessities to make dinner. We loved hot tubbing under the stars. Had fun board games too! We can’t wait to come back next winter! Thanks so much!

Wife and I have fond memories of two hiking vacations in the Adirondacks High Peaks region when we were newlyweds 40 years ago. Always wanted to return. Had a fabulous 5 days at Elizabeth and Andrew's chalet near Whiteface Mt. The chalet is exactly as advertised. We hope to return!

Very clean, super cute place with a great view from the deck! My boyfriend and I did some snowshoeing, enjoyed both the hot tub and fireplace after. Loved the location, very quiet yet only a short drive to areas of interest. I’d stay again, highly recommend!

Amazing property for that perfect cozy winter getaway. Super close the lake placid and even closer to white face. Amazing host as well, quick responses to messages and very buttoned up with details for your stay.

We had a lovely 5 days skiing, eating local foods and enjoying the snow from the hot tub, couldn't have asked for a better mini moon, the A frame is adorable and clean and the wood burning fire keeps it very toasty.

This by far was the best experience I've ever had in a rental! The owners are awesome! They were very prompt to answer any questions we had. The chalet was so perfect. Clean, cozy and perfectly spacious! The hot tub was an awesome perk. We will definitely be back, thank you for an awesome weekend!

It is a super cute house, perfect for a couple or small family. Very close to the ski resort, it also a very nice hot tub and fireplace. It was so great to get in hot tub after a long ski day and then chill in front of the fireplace. Elizabeth was very responsive to our questions and requests. We had an amazing time, thanks for having us.

This is our third year in a row we have stayed here. The hottub, fireplace and location to nearby shops and restaurants are perfect for a relaxing getaway. The kitchen is well stocked and fun and easy to cook in. Our dog loves to hang by the fireplace and explore the area. The bed is also very comfortable!
We cannot wait to come back!

Was a very nice cabin, cozy and comfortable. The crow was amazing and it looked very nice. Very quiet and peaceful and I would recommend this place to everyone.

This was the perfect way to celebrate my husband's 25th. We love the mountains, and there was plenty of fresh air and snow on our trip. It was so nice to come back to a warm fire and hot tub. We loved being able to bring our pup along as well. It is a cabin, so there is a rustic feel but we loved our stay. The pictures don't do the view justice. You'll have to come see for yourself!

Was a great place to get away to and everything was clean and organized ready for my visit. Def a perfect get away if you want silence away from city life.

Returned for our third stay! Great place to enjoy peace, quiet and the beautiful mountains!

The cabin was in a gorgeous spot isolated enough to make it relaxing and care free, but close enough to downtown for an easy drive for dinner or a hike. Hottub under the stars and with coffee in the morning was fantastic and it was well kept. It was cozy and clean, just the right size for a getaway. The owners were great with communication and obliging our needs. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a home away from home

Very cute cabin in a great location and the hot tub was very relaxing

This property was a great mountain hideaway for any hikers or skiers who are looking for a nice cozy property with a nice hot tub to relax the muscles. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary utensils and the grill is easy to use. The upstairs loft is a little precarious to navigate, especially in the middle of the night, but I’m sure it’s fun for kids. Elizabeth is a great and responsive hostess, she was very helpful for the few issues we encountered at the property.

Great location and a quiet road. Updated amenities and great hosts, and close to Lake Placid.

Delightful week in the woods

We spent a week here and enjoyed the house and it’s location! We could enjoy coffee on the deck, use the hot tub, have a fire. Inside or outside fire! It was perfect. We’d hike during the day, grab some food and a beer and then come back and enjoy the evenings at the cabin. Had everything we needed and then some. There’s a couple of restaurants nearby but we got groceries before we checked in - we didn’t see much for that nearby. Located pretty close to many many hiking trails and lake placid and saranac lake. Owners were accessible if we needed them, but nothing came up.
5.0
There’s nothing we missed despite the cold weather and the rainy days. Kids enjoyed their beds upstairs, very large deck and the jacuzzi was a very nice surprise even though we only enjoyed it for our first day due to weather conditions. We liked the fire place secluded deep within the forest away from the road. Deep quite nights and we were finally able to sleep well. Definitely we are looking forward to our next stay.
