About this cottage rental
Boasting two wood burners and a heated summerhouse, this fantastic property is perfect for families or friends to get together.
Located in the delightful village of Tideswell, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, Acorn Cottage is a spacious, end-terraced property in an elevated position. It benefits from a beautiful raised garden complete with a heated summerhouse, just perfect for those summer evenings.
This characterful and homely cottage has many original features and oak beams; it is comfortable and furnished to a very good standard throughout, with the added luxury of wood burners for the cosy winter nights.
The Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom has double doors opening directly to the enclosed garden and sun-trapped Patio, a perfect start to the day!
One of the four double bedrooms is located on the level ground floor and has an adjacent shower room; this facility is particularly popular with those requiring ease of access.
Famous for its magnificent 14th century church, known as ’The Cathedral of the Peak’, Tideswell is a large village set in midst of glorious countryside, the attached images reflect the local countryside and its famous limestone dales.
Tideswell makes an excellent base with its traditional pubs, restaurant, coffee shops, delicatessens, and a Local supermarket. Each May, Tideswell Food Festival is held with an array of stalls and entertainment; Well Dressings and Wakes Week are held in late June to early July.
The ever popular market town of Bakewell is home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, Buxton with its Pavilion Gardens and Opera House can be reached within 15 minutes.
There are some stunning walks through Tideswell Dale, where there is a nature reserve; this leads out onto the Monsal Trail – a popular Peak District walking and cycling trail. The Limestone Way also passes through, and with it heading south, it can take you all the way to Rocester on the Staffordshire border, or north to the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and Mam Tor, which is around 7 miles away. For those thrill seekers, Matlock and its stunning cable car ride can be reached in around 30 minutes, and the UK’s biggest amusement park, Alton Towers, is around 45 minutes.

A wonderful house with a beautiful garden and has all the items you need. The downstairs bedroom was a extra help for elderly relatives. The host is so helpful and lovely to deal with. Tideswell has lots of eating out and such a pretty village. Highly recommend a visit.

Property was as expected, superb. Location also good. Weather awful but can’t blame that on anyone, wish I could.

Cannot fault Acorn Cottage in any way. Clean, tidy and great facilities. A real treat to stay in. Mattresses were so comfortable and armchairs and sofas too. Garden is beautiful although we didn't get too much opportunity to use it. Feel thoroughly refreshed after a week here. Stuart was very helpful from day 1 of booking.

As soon as we walked through the door we felt at home. Full of character, beautifully furnished and all the utensils you needed for a memorable stay. Stuart was an excellent host and was always available to answer our queries and provide invaluable information about the local area.
Our trip was a post-lockdown family reunion so for my older father the downstairs bedroom and bathroom was ideal and was referred to as the paternal wing. We enjoyed family meals at the large dining table and then relaxing in the cosy sitting room. The mature garden on several levels was beautiful with different areas to explore. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather we were unable to enjoy it to the full.
Tideswell had everything we needed, and we enjoyed eating out at the Star and the Anchor. We visited Cauldwell mill, a trip on the peak railway, Eyam and its museum, Crich tramway, Asbourne, Bakewell and Buxton.
We had a wonderful time in this lovely family home and were sad to leave. We hope to return one day.
With thanks and best wishes,
Lauren, Dave, Brian, Ali and Ray.

A very pretty property inside and out, in a lovely village setting. Facilities were as described and there was everything that you could need for a week away from home. Parking can be a little tight if events are happening in the village but a short walk solves this.

Beautifully finished and very comfortable cottage in an ideal location for exploring the peaks with several lovely walks straight out of the door. Parking is inevitably a bit tight in this wonderful ancient little town.
