About this chalet rental
HELEN UPDATE: Our home and town are ready to accept visitors again! Our road took a hit from the storm and will require a 4WD vehicle.
Come and relax at our cozy and unique A-frame. Enjoy the soothing sounds of the creek flowing alongside the house and the views at 4200 ft elevation. If you’re up for a hike, walk on the gravel road and enjoy the mini waterfalls streaming down the mountain. If you’re lucky, you may even spot an elk passing through. This is the perfect mountain getaway for couples, families, and friends.
While the pictures may reflect a small home, this cabin is quite spacious and can sleep 6 comfortably. The house was built in the early 80’s and has recently been updated. We know you’ll enjoy the unique style and charm.
What you’ll find in the space:
A fully stocked kitchen
An outdoor grill and deck
2 full bathrooms
2 bedrooms, 3 comfy beds
Clean linens for 6 guests
Games, puzzles, movies, and books for all ages
A work from home area
Internet is provided onsite. , Cell service and personal hotspots also work well.
Parking: There is plenty of parking available. 3 vehicles can fit at the top of the driveway and additional parking on the slope of the driveway.
Getting Here: This house sits at 4200 ft elevation, which means you will need to make the climb. The road is steep and rough, we highly recommend a 4WD/AWD vehicle. Once you arrive we will have a keyless entry so you can arrive anytime after check-in time. We recommend booking with traveler insurance.
Pets: We would love to welcome your dogs to come vacation with you. Please include the number of dogs when booking. (There will be a $60 fee charged per dog for additional cleaning).
Other Things to Note:
Due to higher elevation, water pressure at times can be low and internet speed is slow.
There is no central air, but given our elevation, we are typically 10 degrees cooler than the valley. Each room has a ceiling fan and its own baseboard heating for temperature control.
The fireplace is an antique, no fires are allowed inside.
There is one security camera observing the driveway only.
This is a perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful North Carolina mountains. Whether you choose to stay in or explore nearby attractions, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage was larger than expected. The road was not great due to recent rain but it was passable. We did lose internet a few times but other than that is was great.

The property was clean, very comfortable and had all the necessary amenities for a weeklong stay. The outside surroundings were beautiful and what you would expect for a cabin in the NC mountains. The cabin was located not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway and was perfect for viewing the Fall colors.

We were moving our daughter to WCU, which for that purpose alone, the distance from this home to WCU was inconvenient, but for purposes of getting to know the area, this home is a lovely stay near Maggie Valley. It's a quaint little place, with everything you need to feel at home. Definitely heed the advice of the owner as you need a 4WD to comfortably make it up to their home. Check-in process and communication with the owner was friendly and quick. Thank you for sharing your sweet little place.

Dori was a great hostess and the cabin was exactly what we were hoping for - quiet mountain setting with the sounds of nature! If you’re looking for a peaceful respite tucked away in the mountains, this is it!

I loved this house. It was so quiet and I could fall asleep to the sound of the creek. Plus, it was right in the middle of everything so great spots were just a short drive away. I will absolutely stay there again.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this property! The cabin was clean and beautifully furnished. It has everything we needed for our one-week stay and we fell like at home here from day one. The location is gorgeous and perfect for exploring the Great Smokies and surrounding area. Dori, the owner, was friendly and professional. Five stars!

The cabin appears rustic but is updated and very nice inside. Perfect location for Maggie Valley and skiing. Great area to relax in. Would definitely stay here again.

This place is amazinggg! We loved everything about it, especially how quiet it is. I spent more time outside on the porch listening to the creek
Down the hill more than anything. The driveway is a tad steep but will be fine with AWD or 4WD. Give this place a shot! We will be returning.

We really liked this place. It's very close to hiking and beautiful mountain vistas. The A-frame is quite roomy and surprisingly well appointed. The beds are really comfortable! And we had two spectacular sunrises.

Beautiful secluded property! A-frame was perfect and very accommodating. If you're looking for a mountain experience with seclusion and privacy but still close to all conveniences found in a small town, this is your choice! Dori is great and very cordial and professional. Excellent everything!

A little slice of heaven on earth!
We can not say enough good things about our stay at this property! The cabin is perfect for getting away and still having comfortable amenities. We loved that we were able to do laundry and truly had everything we needed at our disposal. The bed were comfortable and the cabin was very clean. The area is absolutely beautiful and a great location for exploring the surrounding area! Everything was effortless, from booking to arrival and check out. We would highly recommend!

Wonderful getaway spot. Dori was attentive to our needs and concerns.
Great location. Scenic view, nice creek view and a gorgeous rock face up above the cabin. The cabin was very clean, felt new, and decorated well with comfortable furniture. TV we watched and got good service. Hung out on the balcony/ porch and just listened to the water rush. Could t have picked a better place. Thanks Dori!

Initially, I (wife) did not want to stay here due to the warning of the steep hill and the 4 wheel drive vehicle requirement, but I am very glad we did. Okay...so the road to the home isn't bad; it's the driveway and the very sharp right turn into the driveway where it would be challenging for some vehicles. As for us, once we arrived from exploring town/hiking, nobody was going anywhere.
You can hear the beautiful sound of the running water across the street. Very therapeutic. The inside is very clean and beautifully decorated, but I have to mention this, upon entering, you are met with a mix of old home/light smoke smell. However, this smell is only as you enter through the kitchen and lessens in the living room and not at all upstairs. It was not overwhelming for us non-smokers. The smell doesn't penetrate your clothes like one has left us in the past. It could have been last owner or last guests. Owner has a no fire or candle burning policy, but she does offer an essential oil diffuser with nice scents. I believe if all follow the no smoking policy that owner has in place, the light smell of smoke will eventually disappear. Bedroom sheets seemed clean and fresh (something that always concerns me). Beds are comfortable. Low water pressure in shower upstairs; not the case in downstairs bathroom. There is also a fire pit and a grill that I believe are for guests, although we did not get an opportunity to use them.
Owner requested no shoes in home due to the rain and new carpet. We just swapped into our slides once inside to not track mud everywhere. Unfortunately for us, weather was not the nicest during our stay. Our family of four all wish we had a few more days to enjoy it, especially once we caught sight of the view with the sun shining down upon the forest the morning of our departure.
Last, but I know not least, we had no problem with phone service or internet connection. We were able to receive/make calls and texts and even enjoyed movies on Disney with no interruptions. We were pretty surprised especially since service kept cutting in and out through town.
Overall, host was great. Only thing I would recommend is ensuring trash outside is emptied so that your guest have ample space for trash.
