Lakeview-Escape by Mountain Vacation Lodging is a beautiful new home with panoramic views of Shadow Mountain Lake, Grand Lake, Downtown Grand Lake, and Rocky Mountain National Park. The home's bedrooms, living rooms, and decks are perfectly positioned to help you enjoy the amazing views. The Lakeview-Escape is a pet friendly home that was built in 2021 and furnished in 2022. You'll find very good quality finishes and furnishings throughout, as well as newer architectural features such as the larger size of the bedrooms, big picture windows, and high tech TVs that turn into artwork when they're not in use. There's also no shortage of space. In addition to the gigantic primary living area, the house has a secondary living room with a pool table, a sleeper sofa, and massive HDTV. Spread out and relax, or gather together - your choice! Please read on for more details on this fantastic property.
The Property:
The home is laid out on 3 levels, which allows each bedroom and both living rooms to have its own views of the lakes and mountains. You enter on the middle level, which includes the two Queen bedrooms. For the two King bedrooms, you'll have only one flight of stairs up or down to your bedroom. The great room is on the upper level. This large open room combines a truly large kitchen with living and dining areas that ties together nicely. The rock work surrounding the fireplace match the kitchen island and backsplash and beautiful hardwood floors throughout the space create a consistent and luxurious mountain chic style. The primary dining table is right next to the kitchen area, and easily accommodates 6 adults. The fully equipped kitchen features stainless steel appliances, including a gas range and a fridge with filtered water and ice. A large island offers lots of counter space for appetizers and includes comfy seating for 3. Loads of cabinet space plus a pantry ensure you have places to put things away and keep things looking tidy. The living room couch is leather and plush, a comfy place to relax and enjoy the warmth of the oversized gas fireplace. The HDTV redefines programming by looking like a painting or rotating through a set of images when it's not streaming cable shows. The great room also includes secondary dining or game table, a ceiling fan, and access to the upper level deck. The deck is quite large and includes a dual grill - gas on one side, charcoal on the other. Whichever you prefer, this is one amazing place to grill up some lunch or dinner. From here your view stretches across Shadow Mountain Lake and Byer's Peak all the way across town, Grand Lake itself, and up to Mt. Craig, or as locals call it, "Baldy." The upper deck can also be accessed from the first and best of the bedrooms. This room puts the treat in retreat. It has a King size bed, a desk with monitor, ceiling fan, amazing views, and a large bathroom suite. The bathroom suite includes a walk in closet, dual sinks, and a beautiful shower. This ensuite bathroom is truly private, thanks to the half bathroom, which is also on the upper level.
Let's head downstairs, to the lower level. Here you'll find the second living room, bedroom 2, and the second full bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a King size bed positioned just perfectly to let you wake up to views of Grand Lake and Mount Craig. The bedroom has a good amount of space as well as a double door closet and a ceiling fan. The lower level bathroom has a large walk in shower, and is just outside of the bedroom. Though it is not an "ensuite" bathroom, this is actually a good thing. Since there is only one bedroom on this level, if no one is using the sleeper sofa, the lower level bathroom becomes a de facto private bathroom. If there is someone using the sleeper sofa, they can use the bathroom without disturbing someone in the bedroom. You'll definitely want to use this lower level living room at some point. The pool table and massive HDTV create a really nice space to enjoy. Also, if it ever happens to actually get hot in the Grand Lake area, something that is pretty rare even these days, this lower level will stay cool. It is worth mentioning that like virtually every home in the Grand Lake area, this home does not have air conditioning. At 8300 feet in elevation, truly hot afternoons are rare, and for most locals, they are treasured more than they are dreaded! That said, if it does get too warm for your liking, note that this home has ceiling fans in all bedrooms, plust the main living room, and the second living room on the lower level stays cooler, offering you a cool respite.
The middle level, or entry level, includes the garage and entry area, or "mud room." There's coat racks and closets, space to store your gear, as well as benches where you can remove boots or shoes and prepare to relax. This level also includes bedrooms 3 and 4, as well as a laundry room, and another large deck. This deck is immediately below the upper level deck, and is the same size, but being below the upper deck, offers some shade. It's views of the lakes and mountains are nearly identical to those from the upper level. Bedroom 3 is a corner bedroom, and like bedroom 1, it has 270 degree views of the lakes and mountains. It has a Queen bed and direct access to the deck. Bedroom 4 also has a Queen bed and deck access, and like bedroom 2, the bed position allows you to wake up to views of Mount Craig. The third full bathroom is found off the hall, in between bedrooms 3 and 4, and like all of the other bathrooms, has very nice quality finishes.
Location:
This location is prime! You are within easy walking distance of downtown Grand Lake. In less than 10 minutes you'll be at the Mountain Market, the Meandering Moose Mini-Golf, or the many shops and restaurants that help make Grand Lake so quaint and interesting. The home is elevated above downtown Grand Lake by just enough to give you those spectacular views, but not so much to make the walk too difficult. If the weather is not ideal for walking, or your group includes elderly, mobility impaired, or individuals with breathing difficulties, the drive into town is about 2 minutes. Of course there are a lot of other places to go in this area, and this location certainly makes it easy to get to them as well. The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is about 1 mile away, and there are so many trailheads, lakefront beaches and parks, all just a short easy drive from the home.
Arrival, Access, and Parking:
Once you book, we're here to support you. We provide you with arrival instructions and answers to any specific questions you might have. Please note, to drive to this property in seasons when snow is possible or likely, 4WD or AWD and good tires are required. (You have to drive up a hill to get great views!) Once you've parked, accessing this property requires only one step. With only one flight of stairs up to the main level, this home is a pretty good option even for those who might have difficulty with stairs. Parking is provided for up to 4 or 5 vehicles but please note - trailers are not allowed. The garage is a 1 car garage, and any other vehicles will park immediately in front of the garage, nose to tail. There is space to back up and turn around, but not if you have a trailer. So, if you have a trailer, you'll need to make plans for where to park it, off site. Please contact us for thoughts or suggestions related to off site parking.
Private Amenities - among other things, this home features:
-- Multiple Living Rooms & Decks
-- Pool Table & Large HDTVs
-- Private Washer & Dryer
-- Gas Grill
-- Dog Kennel / Crate & Dog beds

** Disclosures/Disclaimers:
** Rental Agreements, Security Deposits, Rental Requirements - All hotels and rental properties have some rules and are subject to some amount of laws or regulations. Please look for and review any Rental Agreement terms, House Rules, and or Terms and Conditions presented during the online booking process. After booking, a Vacation Rental Agreement will be provided. All guests are required to sign the agreement within 72 hours of booking, and prior to occupying the property. There may be other requirements. For example, Guests may be required to provide additional information about the group that will occupy the property and or identification documents. Background checks may be performed, and in some areas are required by local law. Guests may be required to provide a credit card and or a refundable security/damage deposit. We will be in touch after you book to gather additional information and to email you the rental agreement, which you can sign electronically - no printer required. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us before booking.
** Amenities - Some private or shared amenities may not be available for guest use during certain periods. Some amenities, when part of a property, may close daily, seasonally, or for maintenance. As such, all amenities can not be guaranteed to be available at all times. Please advise us when or before booking if you have questions about a specific property amenity so that we can give you the most accurate information possible for your dates.
** Air Conditioning - Most mountain resort properties were not built with air conditioning. During most hours of the day and weeks of the year, AC is not needed. Summer nights are cool and fans are provided at most properties. Check the average high and low temperatures and weather forecast for your dates of travel, and look at the list of amenities to see if AC or fans are part of the rental property and look for ceiling fans in photos.
** Pets & Fees - “Pet Friendly” means Dog Friendly only. If a property is pet friendly, then a per pet, per night fee will apply. Some online booking sites, such as VRBO, do not allow us to list the maximum number of pets per property. If you are renting a pet friendly property, and will have more than one dog, please reach out prior to booking to verify if the home will allow more than one dog. Additional fees will apply for more than 1 dog.
** Group Sizes, High Occupancy Fees, & Maximum Occupancy - Some properties use a “High Occupancy Fee” to “raise the rate” for larger groups, and are thus able to list a lower nightly rate for smaller groups. Each rental agreement and associated rates are for a specific group size. Guests must enter the correct and maximum group size at the time of booking. The agreement requires a guest to confirm the group size and subsequently, to disclose any changes to the planned group size, which may result in an increase, or decrease, to the total cost, and may result in a security deposit becoming required.
** Video & Noise Monitoring - Please note that noise monitoring devices, and security cameras, do exist on the exterior of the property. Cameras are positioned to cover all entrances and exits of the home. Cameras are present to ensure the property remains secure and safe, as well as to ensure that guests are honest and upfront about their planned use of the property. If you plan to bring more people than you've indicated, more dogs than indicated, to host a party or event, or do not intend to respect neighbors or the value and quality of the property, then this is not the place for you, and you should not book the property. For normal, respectful groups, we are sorry that these statements and measures are necessary. Security cameras and noise monitoring devices are an example and demonstration that the property's owners are taking steps to ensure the home remains available for rental, and in good condition, for your benefit. Please let us know if you have any concerns.
** Cleaning Fees & Lengthy Rental Periods - The standard cleaning fee quoted as part of any booking is for the final cleaning, which is to be performed after the rental period has ended. For guests who are booking a lengthy stay of more than one week, a mid stay-cleaning fee equal to the final cleaning fee may apply for the second week, third week, and so on. If you are booking for a lengthy stay, please contact us before booking online to discuss your group, your dates, the rates, the cleaning schedule, etc.

The home has a spacious, a splendid layout that worked for the ten of us. We, the parents of two children along with their own children, two teens, and two under 8 years of age (all girls).
The home offers three levels of living. In July of 2024, there are about six hillside homes in this cluster of dwellings.
The living space in this relatively new home is well-appointed and comfortable. The house has “ 3 bathrooms (no bath tub) and a powder room. The rules” detailed in the rental agreement can be daunting but DO add a measure of assurance and comfort for the guests. They do not constrict in the sense that current guests gain confidence that the home is truly clean (and not merely superficially so) and is well cared for.
If rustic and extreme seclusion is what you seek, you would do well to look elsewhere. The decor of this home is elegant mountain sheik and it offers both proximity to town that has all most anyone would need. The blue bags needed for household trash disposal are readily obtained and give the occupants a real sense and measure of just how much waste we generate over a given period of time. Trucks used for hauling away garbage in a city would function poorly, if at all, in the Grand Lake environs. So steel yourself to the necessity of taking your blue bag to the town dumpsters.
The home is situated at the northwestern edge of Grand Lake- just off Grand Avenue with at an elevation of good fifty feet above the terrain.

This is a great house with great space! Bedrooms nicely sized. Kitchen well supplied. Nice number of chairs & table space. Wonderful lower level with pool table & activity space. Great balcony spaces & views from each level! Appreciated bringing a beloved doggy. House is amazingly clean while allowing pets. Needed a kitchen sink check & new batteries for a remote- George was there promptly & helpful. Grateful for this house to be available!

The cabin was beautiful and perfect for us and our teens/young adult children. The separate levels were perfect for letting them have their space and ours as well. The pool table was a big hit. The views from the balconies were amazing! I was able to enjoy coffee each morning and a drink in the evening to wind down. Grand Lake is a perfect home base for trips in and around RMNP! We had a wonderful time!

Amazing week long stay with the family. Home was large enough for 6 adults and 1 baby. Thank you for having us! Well stocked, beautiful views, comfortable home - what more could you ask for!

This property is wonderful!!! Everything we needed was in the home. We had a good supply of paper products, soaps, shampoo, etc. The property in very clean, beds and pillows are great. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation rental. Highly recommend.

We had an awesome time. Absolutely beautiful house and property. Very clean and comfortable. Perfect weekend for the family and exploring Grand Lake!

We had a wonderful stay with family! The house was clean and well appointed… and dog friendly, which was a big perk. We loved catching sunrise and sunsets off the top balcony overlooking both lakes. It has a bit of a steep drive in (and be sure to follow the owners instructions when driving in as GPS takes you to the wrong house). Overall, we had a great time!

This house was definitely what we had hoped for. We truly enjoyed the stay.

I had a great time at Lakeview Escape. I was there with a group, and there was plenty of space to gather and hang out but also space for people to find some alone time when they needed it. The beds were very comfy and clean and the bathrooms were plentiful and well-appointed. You have amazing views of both lakes and we even saw a moose from the deck! The kitchen and living room area was my favorite hangout space, because the couch was plush and right across from the fireplace, and it was really conducive to conversation or jamming out with the guy who brought his guitar.

We had a wonderful vacation stay. The location was perfect - just above town and close to RMNP. With three generations present, plus one dog, we all enjoyed the stay. We particularly enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the evenings and early mornings. The kitchen lacked nothing! Responses to our requests and questions were very prompt!

Just an overall wonderful home for big family vacations. Location to town and national park can’t be beat. The only item we were not aware of is NO air conditioning. It ended up not being a big deal because the weather was perfect 70ish while we were there but for hot natured people it could be a concern. Would have liked it at night as I’m used to sleeping in a very cool bedroom. Not a game changer for sure

Our family vacay for the 4th of July was fantastic in this lovely house. The boys played pool with an amazing view. We cooked, relaxed, watched the fireworks through the window and had a memorable week of family time. The kitchen was extremely well stocked as was the game room. And every window had a view of Baldy. Thank you for a great week.

The views from the cabin are amazing! Location is great. Cabin is very well stocked with everything you need. If you don’t like stairs this cabin is not for you. 3 levels means lots of stairs. The only downside was no covered balcony. But they do provide a table with umbrella which helped as it rained quite a bit while we were there. Overall it is an amazing cabin and we loved it.

We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay at this property. The location was perfect - walkable to town, minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park, and high enough up the hill to provide a breathtaking view of the lakes and town. The house was clean, check in was a breeze, and it surpassed all expectations.

This is a beautiful home located within walking distance to the town of Grand Lake. The views of both Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Lake , as well as beyond, are mesmerizing. The kitchen is very well equipped. The beds are very comfortable. There is everything that you would need for a comfortable vacation stay.
Thanks for sharing your special mountain home us.

The house was great. Plenty of room to spread out for everyone. The house is in a great location, easy to get to town, the lake, and the sledding hill. Awesome views!

We rented this great home for the week of thanksgiving. Greatest option available in Grand Lake that is pet friendly. What a wonderful stay! The home is beautifully furnished and fully stocked. The views are breathtaking. So much so that we set our alarms to watch the sun rise each morning. Will definitely plan another trip in the summer to take advantage of the great balconies during warmer weather.

We had a wonderful stay. The views were amazing and the house was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. We enjoyed the pool table, hiking, and shopping. We also rented a pontoon and enjoyed Grand Lake on the water. We would definitely stay there again.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience at Lake View Escape, Deb and Henry truly have an amazing home and we are grateful they shared it with us.
First the views- unobstructed views to the lake from two decks on different levels. We sat outside for hours on end just enjoying the tranquillity. Although it is not secluded per se, the way that the home is set up you felt like you were out there by yourself.
The House - For us, the 3 level home was perfect for our family. The kids had their own realm on the lower level with a master bed and bath, pool table, and very large TV for games and movies…not to mention …a pool table. The mid level was a great separation housing two more bedrooms, a full bath, and the laundry room. The upper level is the huge master and wonderful kitchen. It was amazing cooking in this kitchen with the views from the large windows. The kitchen was well furnished. We actually bought things we assumed we would need to only find they were already there. Everything worked properly, not a single complaint.
The Location- You are literally 2 minutes from the market and maybe 4 minutes from the town center. You can walk (albeit an uphill trek coming back) or drive to the the Market and all other attractions. By the way, the Market has everything you need. We ventured to Grandby City Market only to find lower quality produce and meats….30 minutes away. The local market has what you need…trust me.
Stay here, we will again
Thank you to the Martin Family for having us. We hope we treated your home with respect enough to justify a return trip!

This house has great views of Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Lake. The house is really nice and was very accommodating for everyone. The views from the deck were amazing! The Sonos sound system was an added bonus since we forgot our Bluetooth speaker for the trip. The kitchen had everything we needed and all of the appliances worked great. The house was walking distance to downtown and we enjoyed the area. We were a few minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park and spent a few days there and traveled into Estes Park as well. It was a great adventure!
