Tyypillinen Meksikolainen hotelli, siisti, ihanan värikäs, tilavat huoneet. Erittäin ystävällinen ja avulias henkilökunta. Asiointi sujui englannin kielellä, kun vierailijoilla huono espanjankielentaito
Wi-Fi toiminnan vaihtelevuus huoneessa. Suihkusta tuli vain kuumaa vettä -> huoneen vaihto

Stylish butique hotel owned by friendly and hospitable family. Best place to stay in El Fuerte.

Mexican style of the interior is the best one, good shower, wi-fi is also ok, the personal is helpful and a woman at the reception speaks English, the room was cleaned every day
It was a party one night and it was very loud at midnight but it is usual in Mexico so I recommend to use earplugs in the whole country if you are sensitive to noise

What can I say but WOW. What a lovely hotel. Beautiful Mexican style husienda. Very colorful. Lovely central courtyard and entrance. Room was big and bed comfortable. Raquel on reception was fantastic always ready to help with anything. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing to mention here.

This is an amazing place. The hotel itself is simply stunning. The owner/manager went far above and beyond to help me and spoke excellent English. Such a lovely lady. Thank you Raquel. 😊

The hotel is stunning, in the heart of El Fuerte. The staff, especially the owner/manager was extremely helpful and friendly and really went far above and beyond to make sure my stay was as comfortable and pleasant as possible. She help me when my plans had to change and if not for her I would still be stuck not knowing what to do. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit El Fuerte.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.

This historic hacienda has been added on and turned into lovely place to stay. The decor is colorful, quirky, and truly charming. There are lots of antiques, and wall and cabinets filled with fascinating things. The multiple courtyards give it lots of light and make it a cozy place to stay. It’s two blocks from the plaza and next door to the museum. The front is unremarkable but through the iron gate is a great experience for modestly a priced hotel. Love my afternoon and evening in El Fuerte!
Nothing.

This former grand haciendas has a quirky, eclectic aesthetic in a great location. The staff are welcoming and helpful. When we had trouble paying for our ferry tickets to La Paz they went out of their way to help. And our drive with Ignacio(Nacho) to Topolambopo was delightful.

Beautiful mansion, home of the Don Joaquin Ibarra family. Loved everything about it, the staff, the atmosphere, even just walking around it. Possibly the most beautiful building in El Fuerte. Staff were very sweet and helpful in every way.

Beautiful hotel. Very unique and interesting. Memorable. Good value.
Dimly lit at night. Bad mosquitos.

Rich in Mexican culture
No wifi, outdated cable, cement walls block cellular reception, to much noise outside, hotel doors do not look very secure. Not sure how to change it but this was not a 5 star rating.

We happened to be in town for carnaval -- huge party on the plaza a block away -- and when we called it a night, we found our room to be totally quiet! This was because it had no external windows, only a small one into the interior of the hotel. In normal circumstances, I might have preferred more light, but this was perfect for our stay. Good high ceiling and ceiling fan to keep the air going. The place is pretty huge, and I imagine has a whole range of room layouts and styles.

Absolutely beautiful building and friendly staff.
The shower was a little bit low in pressure and the WiFi was unreliable. But the hotel was wonderful and we loved it.

no wifi, ancient tiny TV, crunchy mattress

Location is great just one block away from the town centre, restaurants and main attractions. Check in experience was good and the staff is very nice.
The venue is very old and comparing to other Hotels around that has same prices there are many things to improve. I went on August at the very beginning of the summer and the water is very very very hot at El Fuerte and they are not prepare for that I understand that local people are accustom but tourist don´t the room is seriously unconfutable and they don´t provide a good air conditioner system and spend the night is quite challenging. Also I fund a big big cockroach in the shower and the insect decided walking on my legs.

The room was large, the bathroom seemed, at least superficially, clean and functional. The sheets appeared clean. Staff did their jobs. The fact that that those are the only positives should prepare you for what follows.
My ground-floor room was poorly lit, internet was available only in the lobby (and patchy at that). It seemed to me like the place is generally being neglected; The upholstery on beautiful old furniture was dirtying, ancient cathode ray TVs, bad lighting and air conditioning units from the last century. None of that is a problem as such, but at the price of approx. 48 USD/night/room, I would have expected more.
AC units need to be replaced and filters exchanged often (Covid!), warm LED light bulbs brought in, and a deep clean done in all rooms. The pool should either be well maintained and clean or taken out entirely. The embarrassing TV sets should just be replaced with good WIFI (everyone brings their own device these days anyway).
It breaks my heart to say that I would not come back here but find a cheaper hotel that, although it might lack charm and history, is at least decent value for money. This makes me particularly sad considering that it is such a nice building.

Stayed one night after riding El Chepe from Creel. Staff was great and very welcoming. Room was excellent! Beautiful old part of hotel with high ceilings. Bed was good. Very clean. Already thinking about return visit.
WiFi could be better.

They did not offer a free breakfast but several good restaurants nearby. Friendly and helpful staff. Due to COVID, we appeared to be the only guests in the hotel.
Hotel is older and in need of some maintenance. Some places cordoned off with tape due to repairs. No longer serving free breakfasts nor shuttle to the hotel. Pool was a bit cloudy.

wifi a hit and miss

Fun eclectic Mexican art & decor! So much to take in that I wish I had more time

Rooms big and comfortable
Courtyard is gorgeous (attached)
Pool area nice and relaxing (dubious cleanliness but it was 36 degrees c)
Staff generally helpful (if you can locate them) - the new owner of the restaurant, Diego (I think), was very kind and informative
Location is right next to the main square and less than a minute from the museum and malecon etc
The much more expensive hotel located 30s away organised tours and does the Zorro show so you can just go there to sort out activities. They also allow use of their bigger pool as long as you buy something
Aircon works and is essential
The first room we were given had a ceiling that leaked water onto the socket my charger was plugged into as well as the bathroom leaking (this was during a rainstorm in the afternoon while we were napping)
Rooms inconsistent as everything is so old so in our first room the fan didn’t work but in our second the lamp was missing - we much preferred room 2 to the initial one we had
Generally very dark inside and windows covered and unreachable so there is no natural light in rooms
Breakfast is absolutely awful, my girlfriend loves chilequiles and described them as the worst she has had in 2 years of living in Mexico. The eggs and coffee both cold and flavourless
Hotel does not provide transport to and from El Fuerte town so you have to factor in 300$ for both legs to the station which is a complete rip off as it is a 10min drive each way
