About this cabin rental
Please note: the cabin does not have parking spaces to accommodate long trailers and ohv’s. We CAN accommodate shorter pop-up campers.
Everyone loves Lake City in the summertime, when the fly fishing is good and the wildflowers are in bloom. In fall, the Aspens turn the mountainside aglow and it’s the perfect time to summit a peak. If you've been to Lake City, then you already know wintertime here is the best-kept secret in the Rocky Mountains. It's a friendly, walkable town where your kids can roam to the local ice-cream shop, go sledding, and slide across a frozen pond -- all just steps from your front door. Lake City is the ideal winter getaway for families that want to experience a mountain winter, but want to avoid the crowds and expense of the major ski towns.
Even beginners can easily learn to ski or snowboard at the town's ski hill - complete with the only pommel lift still in operation today. Daily passes with equipment rental are just $20 - a remarkable bargain! The local sledding spot is just a block from our cabin and is a great place to sip hot chocolate and watch your kids have the time of their lives. Our favorite family activity is a long, snowy walk into the mountains that rise behind our cabin - be sure and bring your snowshoes or microspikes! For the more adventurous, Lake City offers guided snowmobile tours and a world-class ice climbing park, with NO LINES!!! Winter festivals include an annual "brew-ski" atop frozen Lake San Cristobal, ice-fishing contests, and more.
We chose our cabin because it is in a friendly, neighborhood setting. The town and its amenities are just a short walk over the bridge. Our Texas-based family lived in this cabin during COVID and we want to share the joys of a Colorado winter with others. However, this cabin is in a quiet neighborhood NOT a tourist area. It's not a good fit for groups that want to have loud parties or do anything that might disturb our kind neighbors. We also can not accommodate large trailers and OHV’s. Small pop-up campers are ok.
The cabin is cozy and warm - thanks to the propane heater- and is easy to access even in the snow (no scary, steep driveway). The two bedrooms are set up for a couple with two children, although the twin beds do combine to form a spacious king-sized bed. The kitchen is fully-stocked, with tons of spices and generally some condiments and shelf-stable items on hand for anyone's use. Plan to cook some meals, because restaurants in Lake City have sporadic winter hours. Unlike many remote homes, our cabin has fast, reliable internet, solid wifi, and roku devices for connecting the two televisions to all your streaming services. The fenced-in backyard boats an in-ground fire-pit, perfect for s'mores! Our home is 420 friendly, but please limit all smoking to the porches.

We stayed here 3 nights on our way back to our home in Texas from Yellowstone. The cabin was nice and clean and just like the online pictures. Our only downside was an issue with the backdoor, which we couldn’t open and would have enjoyed spending time on the back porch.

My expectations were exceeded. This is a lovey cozy home right in Lake City. Within walking distance to the whole town if you wanted. The backyard is a great setup with a fire pit. The evenings in town are so quiet and peaceful.
The home was clean and warm feeling.
The home has community amenities to make the stay more comfortable which is always nice in case you forget something there was shampoo or medicine you could use.
Thanks for the great memories and comfy bed to sleep in!

We have visited Lake City many times in the past when my brother started the San Juan Solstice 50 mile run (then the "Lake City 50") and it was great to be back! Our daughter and friend ran the race this year, and we stayed in this beautiful home for a week leading up to the race to get acclimatized and enjoy Lake City. The house was perfect for 4 people. It was quiet, incredibly well stocked and very comfortable in all ways. Excellent location! The owner communicated quickly and efficiently and we had no problems at all. We loved our visit and will be back!

This Lake City vrbo is across river from Main St. It’s a very quiet neighborhood, mostly locals, so not the constant roar of UTVs in trains going by. Short walk across bridge into town center to eateries. You are right in the heart of the San Juan’s, beautiful mountain vistas from this vrbo.

Words can not describe this place. It was spectacular!!! An so close to all the locations we had planned for our trip. Not to mention it is the only town you can still ride your atv in. This was a 10/10. We will be back

This was a great home base for our stay in Estes Park from hiking the Handies to driving the Alpine Loop to enjoying all that Lake City offers. It was roomy and had all the appurtenances needed. The back yard was great too!! We loved everything about it and look forward to staying here again on our next trip!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cozy Cabin. It was clean and comfortable with great WiFi. Bucky, the neighborhood deer, came by each day. We saw StarLink satellites on both evenings. It does NOT have air conditioning, but he putting the box fans in the windows quickly cooled the house in the evenings. We were riding the trails during the day.

What a great place to stay. It was quiet and convenient to everything especially the Bakery. Everything we needed to cook was available, basically a fully stocked kitchen. We were having so much fun we never used the TV's which were in one bedroom and the livingroom. The livingroom was comfortable and the dining table held room for 6 or 8, I can't remember. It had an in ground fire pit outside which was great forsmores. There was also a grill for BBQing. We had a great time around town and it wasfun to come back to a nice comfortable house. We will definitely stay here again.

We loved our experience at Angela's home away from home! It is well-appointed and was exactly as listed.
It was a very quiet experience this month which in the end we found we appreciated! Our nine year old even found a new to him book in a series he now loves, as well as a hiking book to entertain himself with on the shelves.
We appreciated the property as well as the owner! Excellent communication and generosity.

This was the most well stocked short term rental I have ever stayed at. Between the kitchen utensils and the spices it made cooking at the property a breeze. The knifes were even sharp and of good quality. Towels and linens were nice. We were in town Ice climbing and this was the perfect home base. We brought food for most of our meals as the majority of business in town were closed for the season. We did our best to support the local business but we’re happy we didn’t solely rely on them. Every one in town was super friendly. The host communicated so well! She was responsive to our questions and offered to let us check in early if we needed to. The place was spotless and was as expected from the pictures. Don’t hesitate. Great place! Great Host!

We had a great time and appreciated having a nice, clean place to stay close to town and walking distance to the trails by the river. Loved it!!
