We loved this property! We have stayed in a lot of place in Marathon and this one is our favorite! Very well stocked, lots of space for everyone to enjoy, boat dock and cleaning station are great! Fishing in the bay was better than in the canal. Easy access to vaca cut. Pool was a great size for floating around and very private. We will be back!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this property (March, 2024). There were 3 couples and we had plenty of room and fun things to do there. The pool was great, plenty of towels! There was even a karaoke machine that we had fun with by the pool. Really enjoyed the Margarita machine (that made a great fresh fruit, slushy margarita that was so nice to have by the pool)! Plenty of fishing poles. I caught a baby sand shark- yikes that the guys let go -lol. Beds were comfortable and the showers —- they were awesome. Had fun riding the bikes around and going for walks in the peaceful area of Key Colony. The only drawback was the basement room which had a musty smell. Overall a wonderful place to stay!!!!

This was our first time in the keys. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Location was perfect because we wanted to be able to visit all of the major keys and we were able to do that without spending too much time in the car. Location was perfect because we felt like we were part of the community of Key Colony Beach. Very welcoming community. Location was perfect because we were able to see dolphins every day from our house, as well as a stingray, manatee and a bonnet head shark. We had the most amazing time and the house was clean, the host was very easy to work with and we would absolutely stay here again and again.

Communication before, during and after our stay was wonderful. Missy was very prompt with her replies and thorough with answers. The pool was very nice just extremely deep so harder for the little ones to use. It needed a little TLC, but nothing major and the pool crew was there on our first day. We used every bed the house offered, and every bathroom. It was nice having three bathrooms, but they were on the smaller side and with the style sink, lacked counter space. The showers were neat with almost every shower spray option imaginable. Slightly tricky to operate at first, but once we got the hang of it it was no big deal. We loved the ice machine on the porch. It was very convenient for coolers and beach days, and the poolside fridge was nice as well. We do wish the listing had more details of what amenities were available so we could have packed lighter (snorkel gear, outdoor speaker, bikes and paddle board). Another thing not listed but the manager did disclose to use prior to our visit was the third bedroom on the ground level only has an entrance from the outside of the house. The location of the house was perfect. Right in the middle of the Keys, in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of shops and activities nearby to enjoy. Overall our trip was very enjoyable.

You won't be disappointed staying here. The house is spacious, both bedrooms and baths are large and updated. The living area offers commanding views of the water and the porch makes morning coffee and evening cocktails relaxing. The weather wasn't the best but we were able to enjoy the pool area (expansive) and did make into the pool on occasion. The house is well stocked with anything you could want and location is hard to beat. A perfect welcome to KCB!

The house was perfect for our laid back family. We enjoyed golf, pickle ball, tennis and daily bike rides. The king beds were comfy as were the nice newly remodeled bathrooms.

This property is in a great location and had a nice slip to keep our 43’ center console. Great pool and porch areas as well as ample parking. The best thing about this property was Gail the property manager. She was available 24-7 and her goal was to make sure our group was happy. We will definitely stay again.

If you are looking for a great location, this is your spot. The house is located in a great area with fantastic views. The house has just about everything you could imagine for cooking (i.e. pots, pans, air fryer, microwave, coffee maker, Keurig, margarita machine, popcorn machine, etc). Missy and Gail were very responsive with any issues or questions.
If you are looking for just those things, this is the house for you. If you read a lot of the previous comments, which I did too before I booked, a lot of the same problems exist so it just looks like no one cares enough to do anything about it. There are screens damaged and missing on the back porch. There is a large umbrella on the pool deck that appears in all the pictures but it is broken and does not work. It looks like a newer umbrella was purchased however there is no base for it (at least nothing we could find). If you or someone in your party needs any cover, there is none. There is also exposed wires on the pool deck. The kayaks are in need of repair. As mentioned in other comments as well, if you were looking for a true 3 bedroom and don't mind that someone will be in what I will call their own apartment, please keep that in mind. Bedroom #3 is on the street level and has its own entrance. It is just a bedroom and a bathroom. The description has 2 King beds and 1 queen but all of the beds are kings. What I think was the biggest disappointment was that we paid $350 for a cleaning fee and whether or not the owner pays that much, I can tell you, they are not getting the value. The house looked like someone did a quick run through at best. For as nice as this community is and how nice all the homes are, it appears that this house definitely needs some updates for the amount of money we paid for one week and a whole lot of TLC.

Overall, the house was great. If I have to be picky, I'd say the screened in porch needs some repair.

We enjoyed our time at Key Colony Beach. We enjoyed using the tennis courts and basketball courts as well as the park/beach located in the neighborhood. The views of the bay are great and we saw dolphins, sharks, fish and manatees. Families should be aware the third bedroom is not part of the main house but outside/downstairs with its own entrance. I was disappointed the home was not stocked for the week as we had to go out and purchase toilet paper, paper towels the first day. The bedrooms/bathrooms are fresh and clean however the rest of the property could use a deep cleaning and refresh/ updating. You will be asked to do the dishes and put them away as well as wash the towels and linens. We would have done it but there was no soap for the dishwasher or washing machine. I was expecting a higher level of cleanliness and attention to detail but it did not ruin our trip we still had a good time with family and enjoyed the great location and views.

We escaped the cold/rain/clouds and had a wonderful time in the keys. Key Colony Beach was a GREAT location and the house was exactly as advertised. We didn't even have any room in cabinets for things we brought to cook with as the house had everything. The pool was clean and warm. The views were awesome! Make sure you head over to Sunset Beach for sunset each evening, it is a special treat. We HIGHLY recommend this property.

The house location was great. Overall the house was great. House really needed to be cleaned better especially floors and outdoor areas. Many things did not work or needed repair . . . Keurig, toaster oven, refrig ice machine, outdoor umbrella, outdoor firepit, sometimes cold showers, kayaks not in best shape, outdoor kitchen refrig. The property just needed some TLC it showed that someone did not check every thing to ensure it was working or just working properly.

Just returned from a week stay. We didn't realize how awesome the location would be. Very quiet and lots of walking/biking paths. The property was as described. It is an older home that has had lots of upgrades/renovations. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking/eating in. The grill was awesome to have as well. Great water pressure in the showers. The pool area was great. Deep pool - we had the heat turned on for our stay. We spent several afternoons lounging at the pool watching boaters come and go. Restaurants within walking distance were a little limited but the Key Colony Inn restaurant is fabulous. We ate at Island Fish Co. several times. Triton's will deliver as well. We would def rent this property again. Any communications we had with Missy were prompt and pleasant. We didn't realize what a gem we were renting when we booked.

Pictures accurately depict the property. Kitchen is very well equipped for your cooking needs. Property is located across the street from a park that has Pickleball, tennis basketball, golf and bocce ball facilities. Also small dog park with areas for both small and large dogs. Walking paths as well. House has many of the comforts of home. It’s an older home that has had an economical facelift. Workmanship of updates is adequate. Property manager was outstanding. Answered and resolved the couple of minor issues we had very quickly. We did not bring a boat but rented one for a few days instead. Easy access in docking it right out back. Three king beds. If you like firm mattresses, you will love these. Pool area is well equipped. Propane was provided by owner for the grill. I would rent it again.

- The house location in the Keys and in Marathon was awesome. Marathon seems to be the perfect location for us. The area is SUPER quiet and peaceful. We had a total of four adults and had an amazing time. REALLY appreciate the two bedrooms in the main house each had a king bed.
- We spent a LOT of time in the pool. The water was perfect and the pool is great for lounging and laps. It is an 8’ deep pool.
- The electronic door lock caused us issues and we found ourselves locked out when it wouldn’t work. After that we always took a key with us. Problem solved.
- If you do a Google map search of the area you will see a water treatment plant across the street. I called several places in the area before renting the house and they said we wouldn’t even know it was there. They were correct. You cant really see it, never heard anything from it and there was no odor of any kind from it. It is a non-issue.
- A new property manager, Kim, was hired right before our booking started. Even though she hadn’t officially started yet and was on vacation herself, she still checked in on us and worked to resolve a concern. Thank you for your efforts !!!

Parking for just one boat / Never again will I stay at Key Colony
I will start by saying the Property Manager, Kathy is great. Prompt communication, and very accommodating. The property, at others have said, has a graveyard of non working appliances in the backyard. There is really no shade in the pool area, and it's pretty rough looking out there. The house was spacious, the kitchen didn't have different sized bowls for cooking. A lot of plates and dishes, but if you are like me, I use paper plate. If you book this place, bring some Tupperware bowls. There is only room for 1 boat and 1 trailer. Period. We brought 2, after asking if the slip was big enough for 2 and the answer was yes. Then there is the classic 1 boat trailer. I went to the town hall 3 times... yes, 3 times to pay. The first time, they were closed, then I caught them on a lunch break and the other time I didn't have the address of the house. I must have deleted the pic from my phone. At any rate, I was given a citation. I ended up paying 205 overall to park my second trailer. A far cry for 55.00 2 years ago. Who want to wait until 8:30 for the town hall to open to pay. I 'm there to fish, and we are usually out of the water at 6am. The good news is there a way to pay on-line and they don't tell you this. We could have avoided all this hassle if this little piece of info was posted at the lot. It's keycolonybeach.net Hope this helps if you need to park a trailer. One last thing, the ice maker is like the size of refrigerator. (which you are not allowed to use that one in the house). For people who look for icemakers to fill the boat with ice, this will not do it. You will still need to buy ice from the store to keep in boat for those fish you catch.

Needs tlc.
It has a beautiful view and location is great. Nice dockage for boat but the picnic table out by boat area has collapsed and needs to be fixed. Nice size pool and relatively clean. New property manager was better then the last one. There were 3 new bikes this year. 3-4 grills on property. We have been there 3 years in a row and it seems to get run down a little more each year. This year we had the pool light sitting out side the pool, the bait freezer was turned off and unplugged when we got there and the outside pool side refrigerator was unplugged and circuit turned off and it smelled inside the refrigerator. We had to go under the pool turn on the refrigerator after we cleaned it. Packages delivered at least 3 days of the week via ups so I had to notify manager. There is almost two of everything on property as they are not getting rid of old dishwasher, pool heater, ice machine, bike laying over by new pool heater etc. so kind of a eye sore. Someone needs to clean the master bathroom exhaust vent. Nice fire pit but tile is collapsing due to rusted base on the countertop. Ambiance of fire pit was still nice. Once the property is updated it will go back to a 5 star but I would say now it’s a 3.5 star rating. Master bed is leaning or uneven not well suited for my wife’s back. All in all we would go back but it would be nice if they would attend to some of the issues.

Key colony house stay
Overall experience was good seems to be a work in progress. Asked about bikes before visit and arrived to new bikes but were poorly assembled had to go buy tools to move cup holder which hit your knee and tighten handlebars that fell when trying to ride. Pool umbrella was unusable and pool chairs were rickety. Most items that had been replaced the old ones were still there. Needs a good dump run. But weather was good and the pool and porch were nice. Bedrooms and bathrooms and kitchens functional but all can it’s and closets full of stuff. Nowhere for groceries etc.

Paradise and Tired All At Once
I have a hard time leaving a review for this property. At times it was pure heaven with the breeze coming in the big sliders and at times it was a super big let down. Kathy is fantastic and she recently just took over the property, so there are upgrades in the works, but the tiredness from the old owner is still apparent. While I'm sure most of that will be addressed, here's helpful hints for future bookers:
-- The 3rd bedroom is on a lower level with its own locks and outdoor access stairway. It was perfect for us, because my older parents could go downstairs while the rest of us stayed up late. I do worry about this for families needing the 3rd room for kids.
-- The pool is exactly as pictured and beautiful. It has a depth of about 8 feet on the end. There are lots of floaties on property.
-- We booked this property because of the kayaks. They don't have all the proper life jackets needed to kayak legally. I'm hoping that gets fixed. :) Getting in them is tricky. You can either jump down 3 feet into coral or use the neighbors stairs. Being a rule-follower, this just didn't sit right with me. Jellyfish come in the dock area at late afternoon, so stairs it was!
-- The current loungers by the pool are not the ones in the pictures. They've been replaced with sun loungers. These are great for sun bathing, however they don't sit up in a position to read a book and are very low to the ground. My older parents couldn't use them.
-- Bikes? While the online listing doesn't mention them, 2 things I got later did... They are broken. I'm hoping they just get taken off property.
-- Other picture differences: Bedding has been updated and are lovely cool silk sheets and modern white bedspreads. The living room has more seating and a new couch. The beautiful stone picnic table on the dock is a pile of rubble. The outside porch no longer has a fridge.
Otherwise, we had a wonderful week on property! A lot of the amenities we booked the place for weren't usable, but there were lots of other things to do! The big ticket items are updated as pictured and lots of furniture has been updated since the listing pictures. Kathy was always reachable and wonderful, I think this is just a case of a well-loved VRBO.
