A Stone's Throw house is situated 3/4 mile from the main road on a small peninsula. Enjoy the peacefulness, the sunny yard, shooting hoops or lounging on the sun shade covered deck. BBQ outside or cook in the fully equipped kitchen. There is plenty of internet (2gigs) to make work or entertainment not a problem at all.
Located just minutes from Deer Isle village and the working water front of Stonington. Start your day at 44 North coffee shop in either Deer Isle or Stonington, then check out the fabulous shops! Watch the working water fronts activity, lobster boats leaving to go haul and returning to unload the days catch. Also, stop by Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries. They have a touch tank and virtual reality learning tools to teach you about the lobster industry. They are also the home of Ask Leroy! If you haven't seen him check him out on YouTube, he is a gem!
There are several great restaurants to choose from in Stonington, Fin and Fern, Stonecutters, 27 fathoms, the cockatoo and Burnt Cove Boil. Deer Isle has Aragosta at Goose Cove, the whales rib, LDI lobster and a take out There's a treat. Reservations are recommended during the summer season.

Up the road from the Edgar M tennis preserve is Nervous Nellie's jam and jellies. A must see for everyone young and old! Stroll through the grounds and look at all the metal works. It is sure to please everyone, and will leave you wanting to come back again and again. The gift shop is packed with yummy jams and jellies. Definitely worth the trip!

You might just see a deer or two wander through the yard, listen to the loons or watch the birds and just let the evening roll on by.
Exciting news! Stonington has been added to the places to see this summer! tripstodiscover.com has tabbed the small island town of Stonington as a can't-miss visit this summer. We are under the "16 Best Small Beach Towns in the U.S. This Summer."

Spotless, comfortable, relaxing! We enjoyed the nice deck and comfortable chairs overlooking woods with ferns and glimpses of the water beyond. Large kitchen with nice appliances; dishwasher, immaculate refrigerator, microwave… also a nice w/d area in large bathroom. Enjoyed exploring the local area. Intended to shoot some hoops, but didn’t get to it, too busy relaxing. Our host Rachel was excellent… kind and helpful.

Loved this house. It had all we needed and was very peaceful. It worked especially well with our infant whose crib fitted easily into the large bedroom. She also had plenty of room to crawl around and play in the living area. We loved it! We were four adults.

We had an amazing time at this property. It is thoughtfully put together with everything you need to cook, lots of extra towel and blankets, and toys for the kids. The home was exceptionally clean and the beds were so comfy. There is a wonderful yard and deck to enjoy, and the place is centrally located on the island so it’s easy to get around, yet still feels very private, with the home set back from the main road. Rachael and her husband were helpful and responsive throughout the booking process and stay. We’ll definitely be back to this place! We loved it!

The home was charming and secluded. I booked this home for my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson to stay in to attend my dads celebration of life. They did not spend much time there due to how busy our weekend was-only there to sleep. The home was clean and nicely decorated. Upon arrival I could not get in because the code to the house had not been provided. I sent a message to the owner and heard back promptly. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to stay on the island.

What an outstanding experience at Rachael's home! She is an exceptional host who went out of her way to welcome us and was available whenever needed. She provides a perfectly clean, comfortable and fully-equipped home great for our family with 2 young children. It is an outstanding location, beautiful property inside and out. We saw many deer in the yard, the beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well- equipped for cooking your own meals, excellent washer/dryer, amazing outdoor seating for meals, BBQ, etc. Nothing is lacking at this truly exceptional property! We would highly recommend and hope to return some day.

We can not say enough good things about this property! The house is adorable. The decorations were perfect for a house on the water. I feel like they went abovevand beyond in making this place feel like home. The king size mattress was extremely comfortable! The appliences were top notch and we had everything we needed for cooking. The outdoor space is great. You can aee the water from the house. The porch was relaxing and the grill is a great bonus. Our youngest loved the basketball goal. We loved exploring the island and that Acadia and Bar Harbor were just a little over an hour away. Racheal and Mike stopped by to say hi and we enjoyed meeting and chatting with them. They are both extremely nice and welcoming. Racheal was extremely helpful with planning our trip. We loved Sand Beach in Stonington, the Muffin Shop and Theres a Treat takeout. If we ever make it back to Maine we will defenetly stay here again!

The house was very clean and well kept, nestled in the woods and just a short walk to the water. The host was excellent and responsive to any needs. The pleasant main floor living area accommodates many adults at once. The outdoor deck was handsome and great for meals, its gas grill a fine feature and often used. Beds were quite comfortable. A great kitchen. The location has easy to access area towns, beaches and Acadia National Park.
Peaceful and pleasant! I would do it again!

Quiet and well maintained home in a beautiful setting. Rachael was very helpful and responsive on everything from restaurants to shopping to local culture. Very enjoyable stay. I would suggest indicating the bathroom is on a different floor from the bedrooms on the VRBO listing. It wasn't too much of a problem but it might be for others. Thanks for your hospitality

Beautifully restored home, surrounded by nature. Very easy to get to, but far enough off the main road that you do not hear any traffic. The water is a short walk down the road. As beautiful inside as it is outside. Wonderful deck with a swing for sitting outside and enjoy life. If there are better owners out there I would be surprised. Rachael and Mike are wonderful people and we were lucky enough to have the chance to meet them. Definitely get it touch with them for the scoop on the local hangouts and restaurants. Can’t wait to go back.

Very nice cottage on Deer Isle with everything you need. Away from Bar Harbor and Acadia crowds, but close enough if you plan on driving there for a day or two. Rachael was always available if we had any questions about how to get around the Isle, things to do, etc. Her husband’s lobsters was the best we had in a long time. I definitely recommend. 😊

The night we arrived there was a power outage. Our hosts were in touch to assure us the generator would meet our needs until the power went back on, checking on us mutiple times. The house is updated and as advertised. The outdoor space is awesome. Inside had plenty of room for 4 adults. even though there is no direct water access, you can see the water from the porch swing.
Everything we needed was within a 15 minute drive. Hiked, sea kayaked and just hung out on the beautiful outdoor deck.
Mike, one our hosts, stopped by and had a long chat with my husband which he thoroughly enjoyed. It was nice to know the hosts live locally and could be there in minutes if necessary.
Excellent stay. Thank you Rachael and Mike

Home away from home
Can’t begin to describe how awesome this place and the owners are. Rachael and Michael went above and beyond to make us welcome, providing us with everything needed to make our stay great. The house is located in secluded woods in a peninsula of Deer isle and was so peaceful. We saw deer daily and felt so rejuvenated when we left. We will certainly be back. The house was perfectly located away from the tourist masses but close enough to the village Stonington, Bar Harbor and Acadia National park to be convenient. The local town of Stonginton and its people were awesome and so friendly. All in all the place, the hosts and the experience was outstanding.

So quiet. Beautiful location. Central to the whole area.
Owners are top notch. Everything was ready and spotless. Wake up in the morning and have you coffee in the swing on the deck. Deer in the yard. Saw an eagle one morning. Comfortable place to hang out and close to Stonington. We found it a great place to explore Deer Isle. Also within an hour of blue hill, castine and many of the local towns. Great seafood on the isle. Bar harbor is just over an hour. Be sure to check calendars of events within the area. Have a great stay and the most peaceful sleep of your life! I’ve been to main 30 times. This is a keeper.
