My family of five and fur baby had a wonderful stay. Home was spacious and has a beautiful view off the back porch. We spent many early evenings on the porch enjoying the view and surrounding nature. Home is located on a gravel dirt road and can be a bit steep in areas. It was a little daunting for me as a passenger in a minivan but my husband didn’t seem to think it was a big deal at all. I also want to note that the management company for this property is great. They were a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end.

The house was perfect for our family of 9. We loved the 2 family rooms. The adults had one and could watch sports and the children had the other and could watch their movies. The covered deck came in handy when it was raining. The location was great, only 10 mins to King St.

I love coming out to Boone. In the past I’ve usually stayed at hotels in town, but this time I wanted to get a better mountain experience. This cabin was perfect. It was large enough to accommodate a family of 7 adults and one 2 year old without issues. They also allowed dogs, which was a huge plus. It was close enough to town for us to enjoy walking King St and around campus, but far enough away to get the peace and quiet of the mountains.
Also, the hot tub is amazing and comfortably fit 4+ people.
We will definitely be back.

We had a group of ten best friends from App Stare that hadn’t been together in 15 years. This was the absolute perfect home for us. We honestly could’ve stayed at the house the entire time and we would’ve been happy. With that said, the drive to downtown Boone was easy and the location was convenient. All of the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the shared living spaces were super cozy and accommodating for a big group of girls. Every view was spectacular and the hot tub was a hit. We loved it and will definitely be back again!

The house was great, everything was nice and tidy, down to the “felt like new” white towels and linens. The decor was beautiful and made you feel as though you were “at home.” The open kitchen and family room allowed for fun fellowship among the 8 of us there. The views were amazing and there is a lot of space on the property to go outside and have fun.
This next part has NOTHING to do with the house, but I feel led to warn others…. It just so happened to snow about 4-5 inches while we were there and the wind gusts were high in addition to it being 20 degrees.
The road that leads to the house is private (thus not maintained by the county with snow plowing or salt) and STEEP at the beginning. One night as we were returning home, there was a car stuck in the snow in front of us on the private road, so we could not go forward. We eventually slid down the road backwards as we attempted to back up, to make way for a tow truck. We then had to be towed. And yes, we were in a 4WD truck.
So, I say all of that to say, if you are not 100% sure your tires are able to drive on ice, I do not recommend you try to go here when there is a chance of snow.
I will say the neighbor that helped us was a blessing! He said he has “studs” in his tires. He saw us walking from our stuck vehicles and drove us the 1/2 mile we had left to go to get back to the house.
I would go back to this house, but not in the winter. I’m too paranoid now!

The Ponderosa was a beautiful place for our Christmas get together. The night of check-in a winter storm blew in, with about 5 inches of snow, strong winds of 40+ mph, and a wind chill of -30. The house stayed cozy and warm.
Five days later all main roads were clear, but the gravel road to the neighborhood was still snow covered and icy. Our AWD vehicle made it with no problem, but our children's front wheel drives did not. If there is anything on the ground, you really need 4-wheel or AWD. Be prepared!
Overall, it is a lovely home with beautiful kitchen and wonderful fireplace (wood is not included, so bring a lot!).

The rental process online was super easy and the house listing was accurate. We enjoyed our girls trip there and were centrally located to the activities we had planned. We were 21 mins from Boone where we spent a day shopping and 35 mins from grandfather mountain where we had an amazing time hiking. The house was well stocked. The only thing we had a hard time with was figuring out how to lock the doors on the back side of the house and after all of us giving a go at it we finally figured it out. The house was very comfortable, safe feeling, and a good fit for us. We will definitely be renting here again!!

We had a fantastic trip to Boone, NC staying at the Ponderosa. Brought our 2 fur babies and had a blast as well. The house is extremely well stocked. Beds are comfortable and all the extras you could need are available. We took a trip over to Laurel Creek Falls, Grandfather Mtn and rafted the Nolichucky River with High Mtn Expeditions and would recommend them to anyone! The property is quite and private. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and have their own space. It was our first trip to Boone but won’t be our last. The only down side that didn’t effect us for a summer trip was the steep gravel road to get to the cabin, wouldn’t be accessible to everyone in the winter but we had no problem in our mini van for our summer trip! Shuffleboard Board table was lots of fun!
