Typical quality hotel mostly unremarkable

Advertised craft beer but none available.

We used the hotel for a day at newcastle races you walk out of reception turn left through a secret gate turn left again and your about 200 metres from the main entrance to the racecourse. Brilliant location hotel and staff exceptional with help and reccomendations for our night out in gosforth.

Excellent check-in great room good restaurant
4.0
Always clean and always a friendly welcome,
little things are starting to let the hotel down, cracked sink, very rusty handrail in the shower, slightly dirty worn chair in the room, it's maybe time for a little refurbish

Excellent stayed for a charity ball

I’ve stayed here several times over the years and watched it decline so was pleasantly surprised to see new carpets. But shocked that pool access is chargeable now
2.0
Hotel old and very tired, beds VERY uncomfortable as were pillows. Carpets a little sticky. I would say this hotel needs a complete refurb. No water in room, sheets were bobbled. Bar closes at 10:45 on sat with no room service. Quite disappointed really and will not return. Felt was overpriced and underdelivered.

Have stayed at hotel a number of times previously. Last stay four years ago, Rooms / en-suites are now very tired and scruffy.
Room wasn’t clean, cup was dirty.
However reception and restaurant staff were very helpful and accommodating.
4.0
Just a quick overnight stay with walkable access from hotel to the racecourse.
Staff all very helpful and will definitely stay again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Postives were that the room was comfy, good parking and its well positioned for going into newcastle or out to the coast. The leisure facilities were in my opinion better/no different than those at some much more expensive spas (nice changing rooms for example with easy to use locker system)
Down sides: They charge £5 per person per day for the spa- which isnt advertised in expedia. This could add up if you have a family/staying a while.
The housekeeping barged in on one day- almost v embarrassing 😳 despite me not having requested a clean. As a single female traveller i was initially worried another guest had the key to my room..but thankfully not.
The decor is a little dated- but its fine.

Some staff need a lesson in courtesy and customer skills. The property is obviously old and in need of upgrading, especially in the leisure club. Rooms are spotless and also the public areas. All the food we had was really good.

Had a good stay as usual.
Would like to add that Richard on the bar this morning was brilliant. He was professional, friendly and really helpful about the local area.
He also made a perfect flat white.

Check in was easy and efficient. Plenty of free parking upon arrival, the room was spacious. The air conditioning was on and the windows only opened so much. The air con was really noisy and the room was hot so we didn’t sleep all that well. The room was nice, basic but could definitely do with a deep clean.
The Leisure Centre also now charge £5 per person per day when you use the facilities.
The Hotel is completely cashless.
The breakfast was ok both continental and full English. You could ask for vegetarian options to be cooked fresh.
Check in online said 4pm but when we arrived the Hotel stated it was 3pm.
We would return the team were friendly and helpful.

Spa area poor, steam room not working. Children dive bombing into pool and in and out of sauna whilst 3 staff members watched. Only one dressing gown in room and half a bottle of water left in smelly fridge. Went to reception to complain and then couldn't get back in room as key cards not working. Received extra dressing gown but half bottle of water still left in smelly fridge. Not a very relaxing stay at all.

Site was easy to access via bus and was walking distance to our activity.

for a standard double it was very nice at least bathroom toiletries were offered and you had toilet rolls & paper tissues made available.Iron & ironing board and safe and a good size TV. Disappointed that the fan didn't work but happy the windows opened a little as the weather was very warm. Also disappointed that there was no USB portals to be able to charge phones & ipads, good job I brought that old fashion item an electric plug.

very disappointed in this visit,. i have been visiting this hotel for 40 years and it was once considered to be the best hotel in the area. The facilities are still very good, but it appears the hotel is being run to make life easier for the staff and not for the customers. Check in is late afternoon, check out is 10, unless you pay an additional 20 pounds. The leisure facilities which is a big attraction now has an additional charge of 5 pounds.
There was no residents bar, no room service after 11.00 so no way to get a drink once public bar was closed and as there is no longer fridge in the room.
It appears they are more interested in competing on price with the lower quality hotel brands, rather than concentrating on the obvious advantages they have.

Would recommend.

Very old and dated, cleanliness not great, items didn’t work very well in room, staff entered our room twice before checkout time, bed rock hard and uncomfortable, 1 pillow, just awful wouldn’t stay there even if it was free

I've stayed many times, I've evening booked again, but it's not because it's very good, just the location is very convenient.
The reception staff are great, very helpful, but the rest not so much.
Rooms are scruffy and dated.
TV's generally only have some of the channels working.
They could do so much better.

Definitely recommend, excellent service

Nice hotel, not to far from city centre and Gosforth race course
6.0
A very tired hotel now - long past its prime. Staff tried their best in the circumstances for sure but parking on the weekend a nightmare - not enough spaces for the venue and too many functional guests commanding the parking .lifts off - only one working, breakfast during the week heated too long under ‘keep warm lights’ to be classed as fresh ! What a shame a far cry from its iconic Gosforth Park Hotel days long ago.

Great value for an overnight near Newcastle. Nice menu too
3.0
Key cards stop working
Rooms are worn. Needs updating
Old dirty towel lefted on the floor when we arrived
AC did not work so room was hot
Fire alarms went off twice
4.0
Hotel does need a little update to make it feel Grand again, but all in all, the staff make this hotel and without them it would seriously score low in most surveys. Well done Front of House, always a warm friendly welcome. Bar staff, you’re all amazing, Breakfast crew, nothings a problem. Take my hat off to the speed and efficiency you look after the masses.

Absolutely spot on for an onvernight for our flight out of Newcastle. £65 for two compares to £110 at the airport, no brainer. Will use the hotel again.
