The room was covered of black mould and and dirty socks left over from previous guests
Walked out in the middle of the night

Such a great time in this hotel. Had a really comforting feel, nice sized and comfortable room. The bar had a nice vibe and were very welcoming with our two dogs. Breakfast was very nice

Staff were amazing and friendly. Fire alarm went off whilst we were there. Staff felt with it in a quick, efficient and very professional manner.
This is the second time we have stayed and would 100% visit again

Hotel book in was good as were the staff. Room was ok except very drafty no hot water in the sink and sink plug didn't work. Didn't try the shower or bath as thought they would be the same. Bar area was nice and staff were very good as was breakfast. Not sure would stay again.

We knew the hotel was an older building having stayed before a few years ago but the location right on the seafront is almost unbeatable. Our room was a decent size but looked a bit tatty around the edges, the TV was useless and the cleanliness was ok, but not great. Most importantly the bed was comfortable, the pillows were decent and we slept well. Would we stay here again? For the right price probably yes, as you're only a 5 minute walk from the nicest parts of the city.

Very old hotel , so not in pristine condition, but if it were it would lose its character. It’s the oldest hotel in Brighton. Very clean and the staff were lovely, particularly the young lady in the restaurant this morning (15/5). Will definitely be returning

Great old hotel on the seafront. Lovely people at check in, our room was upgraded at no cost to sea view.
Room was old fashioned but exactly what you’d expect in an old fashioned hotel. Coffee & tea making things, really comfortable bed! Lovely old lift in the hotel from the 1920’s!! All really charming. Had drinks in the bar, friendly staff, nice bar.
Seafront was noisy overnight, Saturday night, but what do you expect in a busy town? Wasn’t a problem. If you want silence don’t book a hotel on a busy seafront!! We had a great stay and couldn’t fault this charming old hotel with all its creaky floorboards, quirks and old fashioned style! Really great position to walk to town & station and great sea view!

The hotel was good but it is in need of a refurb. The only slight problem was that the radiators in the rooms took a long time to heat up.

The room we got was moist and mouldy all over, we could not stay there. We asked for a refund to move hotel, but got a new upgraded room immediately instead. The staff was really helpful and friendly, but the new room also has mould in the bathroom curtains. The air in the room was breathable tho so we just stayed there cause after having to talk to them and find a solution we did not want to spend more time doing it again.

We always stay here when in Brighton, the place has character.

Was the worst ever I use to stay in the royal Albion brilliant service
Here in ship no one cares from the reception to the bar staff to the maintenance useless me and my son who is 7 the toilet didn’t flush the shower trickled on top we get a phone call you must be out in 10 minutes
Where’s the manager instead I see a bunch of suits having a oiss up 11am at the bar free which I assume are staff
I will be putting this viral warning other families

If im being totally honest..my stay was so enjoyable ..but see some of the previous comments on the hotel needing loads of tlc...i do agree ..but it didnt upset my stay

Hotel is good, breakfast was poor. Vegetarian sausages sent back twice as they were still frozen ! They did not charge us for the breakfast as we were unhappy, so that was good
2.5
Lovely hotel, parking is good if you can get in the hotel car park but extortionate if not at the nearest car parks this is the only thing that puts me off booking again, hotel itself lovely old building, room comfortable and very clean, staff all lovely, friendly & helpful. I was there for work so wasn’t sight seeing but it is opposite the sea front and close to shops restaurants etc. Breakfast is buffet style but do specific requests if you ask breakfast was nice.
1.5
Hotel was warm and welcoming and busy. It’s just very tired and could do with some TLC burnt curtain linings showing through windows from the bar isn’t a good advertisement and it wouldn’t hurt to jet wash the signage outside once a week, it’s an old Beutiful building and understand it takes some maintenance but it’s just feels a bit neglected

One night business trip, great location, good size room and bathroom. Lady on reception was fantastic!
1.5
Staff friendly, the whole hotel is a little tired.
2.0
The hotel was nice. It's Old as the name implies. Clean but really tired, needs a refresh badly. The reception staff was nice, no issues. Conveniently located.
1.5
The room was fine but dated. Low water pressure. Parking is a problem. We were able to secure parking in their garage for 25 pounds per night but it is very limited. If you are driving, don’t expect to get it and the garage at the other hotel is over 40 pounds per day for non-guests.

The service was excellent and our bed was very comfortable. The place is in need to repair, but we were aware that this has recently been approved by the council (as it’s a listed building). The breakfast is great and I highly recommend adding it to your booking. The views were also great. Would book again.

Hotel was nicely appointed. The water for the shower was a bit of a challenge along with humidity due to venting. But otherwise, very nice! Great location and walkable to everything. Brighton had to offer!
1.0
Excellent service from staff, however quality of bath/shower was very poor for a £125 per night hotel. Even after leaving it running hardly any hot water for showering. Difficult to turn the shower on as the attachment was very old/yellow from its age.
Also, as I stayed for a week I would have expected a smart TV in the room to connect to Netflix etc. Be prepared to wait a long time if you need to use the lift.

Fantastic location and would stay again. The lady on reception was superb. From check in to check out her service was outstanding.

location is fab and hotel is much bigger than expected.staff were friendly. we were on the 4th floor and the room was so hot it was hard to sleep even with the fan and window open. the hotel does need updating in the rooms but the price was really good.

It was a good experience but I sleep hot so having just a comforter made it hard for me to sleep

sea front view and the breakfast was really good

Some hotels are old, and others are run-down. The Old Ship Hotel is both. When you stay at an old hotel, you should expect to forgive some quirks, for example, an older, slower elevator. Creaky floors. Slow plumbing. All of those things are perfectly normal and acceptable for a hotel as old as this. The Old Ship, however, is in serious need of refurbishment. My room had cracked plaster coming off the ceiling. The grout in the shower had mildew that was long neglected. The walls and furniture were dirty and damaged. Some of the carpets are held down with tape in the common areas and appear to have been that way for a long time.
For the price, you can certainly stay elsewhere that will be a lot nicer. I won't be booking again.

I found the various staff members to be helpful, room clean, bed comfortable. Very convenient location.

The property is old a quirky but is tired and in need of some modernisation.
Staff are friendly but the room was very basic and dated.

A historic hotel, but needs some work done understably, reall could do with clean windows after paying a premium for sea front view. Otherwise we really enjoyed visiting here again.

Would be a lovely hotel it’s in much need of some TLC

This property is unique and quirky due to its age. However a stay there is worthwhile for its sea views, location to shopping and the pier. The staff are friendly and service good. A true traditional sea side hotel!

The hotel is old and is stacked with original features. Yes it’s dated, yes it could do with some new carpets, but please never lose the history. We had a lovely stay, our room was sea facing and the bed was ver comfortable. Bathroom was clean.
We had breakfast which did the job. Overall I would return in the future because you can’t beat the character of this historic building.

The hotel is dirty and run down and is not like the photos
Avoid at all costs
The breakfast was the best part of the holiday

I have stayed at the ship quite a few times and felt this time. The place was very tired and could do with a thorough clean.
The bed was comfortable, and the room was adequate for our needs - Just basically sleeping there and getting ready
Some of the breakfast products weren’t the best, And felt it had gone downhill in the last year since last staying !
Such a shame for a seafront property

Fantastic location, lovely hotel and very friendly, helpful staff
2.5
Excellent service from all staff, the Reception staff were extremely attentive and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
. The accessible room, which we needed due to mobility issues, was very spacious, and was clean and beautifully presented.
Breakfast was excellent and constantly being topped up with fresh eggs etc.
Seems incredibly popular with stag and hen do's at the weekends so can be fairly loud on Saturday mornings as everyone arrives.
That said, we'll definitely be staying here again.

Thank so much for a great stay at the Old Ship Hotel.
She may be old and worn but she is full of charm and the perfect location for a stay at the sea front. Easy access to the Pier, the i360, the Lanes…
Great breakfast Buffé at a much cheaper price than any Café.
We didn’t meet the ghost though !

What I use this hotel again ? NO
Would l recommend this hotel go friends and family ? NO
Room 210 urgently needs updated !!!
Bathroom very very tired and needs updated . Toilet Roll holder broken , wash basin doesn’t have a mixer tap ! Old fashioned separate hot and cold taps .
Witnessed 2 mice by the entrance to the restaurant around 12.15am. This was reported to staff on duty but didn’t seem very concerned. . Want to discuss this further ? Call me 07957-659824

Definitely one of the holiday hotels. Very lively welcoming entrance and bar on the sunny weekend. Hotel interior is paused in time, but adds to the charm makes it a little more homely
