Arrived at 10 pm to find a very cold room.
Michael from housekeeping went above and beyond to try to locate a warmer room and eventually work with security personnel (evidently no maintenance after 5 pm!!!??!!) to figure out mini splits and heating vents to get our room above 64 degrees.
Thank you Michael!!
Once that problem was solved we enjoyed everything about the hotel from the comfy beds, delicious food and drink to all the helpful service personnel.
Definitely will return !

Terrible experience. Not only has the place seen better days, but they were understaffed and very unfriendly. My husband is handicapped and despite our request, we were placed in a room far from the elevator. No one was available to help with luggage. The nearest entry near the handicapped parking has steps. We went around half of the building (which is quite large) before an employee who was leaving stopped to help us and pointed us to small back elevator that could only take one person at a time. The bartenders and wait staff at the restaurant were completely overwhelmed and service was chaotic. I would pass on this one.

Wonderful place to stay. Rooms were large and comfortable. The views from the porch are excellent.

Despite making reservations months in advance, we were put into the worst room in the hotel, right off the bar/tavern. The noise each night was ridiculous. I asked to be moved each day and was told nothing was available. Finally, on the 3rd night of our 3 day stay the manager (who was sympathetic) upgraded us to a nicer and quieter room. One night, we ordered pizza in our room. We were told it would be delivered in 30 minutes. After an hour and a half, I finally went down to pick it up myself. Some room “service”! I was told, “we’re really busy” as if that makes it acceptable. Some of the staff were pleasant and helpful, but we found several others to be sullen and unpleasant. I wanted to make this a nice getaway for my wife, but left feeling ripped off. There’s no way I would ever come back to Mountain View Resort.

This was the fifth time here, was very pleased that Hotel.com offer this hotel

terrible check in. 45 minutes after 4:00 unacceptable.

The hotel setting is extremely nice, but the hotel is too expensive for what it offers. Carpets are not clean. We asked for a room with low noise, but they gave us a room just above the back door that was noisy, plus the fact that at least 5 separate HVAC units that were within 10 feet of our window & most were on all night. They had many other rooms available, but since we booked on Hotels.com they said that we should have booked with them to get better service; I GUESS! None Sense! There is basically one restaurant at the site & service was basically a disaster! One night most folks were waiting for 1+ hour to get food! Totally not acceptable for a hotel that we paid over $700 for 2 nights! Also, the folks at the hotel never greet anybody & we had to say hello to practically 90% of the staff. This tell me that the issue is with the management of the hotel.

The venue itself is beautiful. The hotel is iconic in nature. Overall, it needs a redo. I was not advised at check-in that we needed reservations for the restaurant. When we tried to make a reservation at the restaurant, we were told there was no room. We along with the 35 people behind us ended up waiting in the bar for two hours to get served. One bartender was doing everything by himself. We felt very sorry for him. Obviously the resort is understaffed. Funny thing was the two managers we spoke to were not surprised. $400 does not get you much these days. Would not recommend.

My wife and I had a very good one night stay at the
Mountain View Grand Hotel. The room was charming and had great vews of the mountains, and it was especially nice to see the wonderful foliage this time of the year. The hotel staff were polite and courteous. Also, the working farm on the property was fun to vist as it had animals we could watch and learn about.

Excellent situated with a scenic view over the Mountains and the trees with the beautiful foliage.
Hotel Lobby and bar area is nice and cosy, hallways and rooms would need some maintenance though.
Breakfast buffet is to expensive for the Selektion offered.
Can recommend this resort.

Restored grand hotel did not disappoint. Pay for the view room. Incredible vistas and beautiful art work. We will be back i hope.

Old hotel with great ambience, a great staff, and comfortable beds. I wish we’d had more time to explore the fiber house and other sights. The down side was I had to haul my heavy suitcase up the entry stairs. I survived and enjoyed the rest of my stay!

The place is pretty plain as a hotel. If you're into nostalgia you may enjoy it, but truth be told, the juice isn't worth the squeeze, at least not for me. For $350/night, I would expect some kind of special experience. There was none to be had.

This once grand hotel is very impressive from a setting standpoint. Hotel room was satisfactory although quite small. The most disappointing part of our stay was the restaurant, more specifically the wait staff’s lack of attentiveness. And, it took about 20 minutes for waiter to come to our table. It took about an hour from arriving before meal was served. Food quality was acceptable.

The worst service I've ever received at a resort hotel. Front desk staff was borderline hostile. Onsite restaurant had an hour+ wait on both a Monday and Tuesday night even though only 1/2 the tables were occupied. Took 45 minutes to get a drink from the bar. Was told at check-in breakfast was served beginning at 5am, restaurant staff refused to serve anyone till 7:30.

It is a luxurious hotel set up in the mountains. Absolutely amazing

They upgraded us to a bigger room to start. The resort has lots of activities we did golfing, disc golfing, Axe throwing, made smores, the farm activities, activity center, etc. Only negative is the dining has a limited menu (at least from my families perspective).

9/10 stars. Great property overall

The room was immaculate and seeing that this is a very old historic hotel the room was fresh and inviting. The staff was very friendly. The outdoor views were spectacular. We would go back in a minute if we could.

The hotel is lovely, the staff extremely pleasant and the view is spectacular. My only criticism is the food is just ok. It is good but for what they charge, it should be so much more memorable. Overall, really liked it and would go back.

The description on the website of Mountain View Grand Resort leads you to believe that it is a quiet hotel good for a get away for adults. There were many children running around when we were there.

Totally disappointing

Unique and beautiful property. Clean and comfortable. Highly recommended

I have charges fro. Harvest tavern for 58 dollars and almost 100 for a breakfast that was advertised as being included. A one night stay ended up being almost 500 instead of what I was led to believe would be 346 with taxes and fees then an additional 40 resort fee. The resort is beautiful, but way over priced for grandmother and great grandmother to stay with a 7 and 8 year old overnight after Santa Village with a way overpriced breakfast for 4 people with two of them being small children

The property is beautiful and the location is gorgeous. The hotel is newly renovated and stylish. The staff at the reception, bar and servers were great.
I gave 3 stars to the overall service because the restaurant hostess the evening of August 18 was extremely unprofessional. It almost ruined my weekend.
We came to have dinner at 8:25 pm and she told us she could not sit us because we didn’t make a reservation and they stopped serving food at 9 pm.
The restaurant was fairly open. There were 10 tables available so I asked if they could accommodate us at one of them. She said they were all reserved. I double checked asking if she was expecting at these families to come in 35 minutes. She said rudely yes.
I went to the receptionist and asked is if she could intervene. She made it possible to get a table and when the hostess sat us down, visibly annoyed she told us “let’s see if I can find you a waiter.”
A waiter came and he was great. We ate passed 9 pm and needless to say there was only one family that came and at least 5 tables were still open. The waiter confessed he had to be there at least until 10 pm or whenever guests leave.
The hostess lied straight to my face. She seemed she didn’t want to sit us, just plain and simple. She was young and inexperienced but the attitude she gave us had no excuse.
The rest of staff were very nice. I’d recommend the hotel and for dinner make sure you make reservations.
Thanks!

The bathroom was terrible. We had what was probably the last room to be rented and a view of the roof and the bathroom lighting was so dim. You could hardly see anything all in all our room is probably a two star rating.

Kevin was amazing (waiter) but the staff was rather rude and unhrlpful

Beautiful hotel and location. Pretty terrible experience for half our stay there. If you don't need to eat or drink, you'll be fine. Restaurants need to be booked by 3 pm day of (which doesn't help you if you're arriving late with a hungry child). The only real option appears to be room service or the bar. But, it's hard to get service at the bar and the front desk workers and restaurant host were stand-offish, at best, the first day we were there. Definitely has potential but the service is disappointing.

The resort was beautiful. All staff members were very polite and helpful. Short walk to the beautiful outdoor pool well worth it.See you next year

The room was clean and very comfortable. The view was phenomenal. The outdoor pool was nice but I think for a hotel at this level, the pools should be bigger, cleaner and without the strong chlorine smell and feel. However, I did not come to the white mountains for the pools so it did not take away from my overall positive experience of this hotel.

Came here with my family after a trip to Santa’s village and hands down one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed at on the East coast

This is a beautiful grand resort. We stayed for one night. They have a restaurant. Wish they offered more kid friendly means (like 4 and under) meals are expensive. Breakfast didnt open until 7:30 wish was late for us. But staff and resort are beautiful. Two pools indoors and outdoors. Heated.
Our room alarm was set for 5:45am (that we did not set- we should have checked) but supper annoying and woke all the room us that early… but in the summer months be prepared to spend $700 for one night, supper and breakfast (for three people)

What an incredible hotel experience. We will return for a longer visit.

First room they stuck us in smelled like something died. They upgraded us and moved us to a new room where the towels were used and there was a kids sock laying on the floor. We then went down to dinner and were sat by the hostess. No one came over for 15 minutes and waiters (even at the table right next to us) just ignored us and wouldn’t even look at us so I went to the hostess stand and told her and the waitress standing there and they said they’d send something right over. Ten minutes later still no one acknowledged us. But while sitting there, it was storming outside and the ambiance was greatly improved by the pouring down water near us into a bucket. At this point we got up and left, hostess just said “oh, okay” and we went to sit in the bar to see if we could eat there. The bartender was very nice and tried to help us but she was alone and all the tables in the bar were full. She took our order and the 3 steaks we ordered were cooked well done even ordering medium rare. We sent my son’s steak back (it was his graduation trip) and it came out again well done. At this point he was starving and ate it anyway. The bartender told us they were short staffed and the Bulgarian cooks (or wherever they were from) couldn’t understand enough English to get that we wanted medium rare. We complained to the front desk and they reversed the dining bill and the resort fee. At that point the damage was done.

We love visiting the MGV with our family. The hotel offers a lot for everyone. The breakfast buffet is excellent, the outdoor pool is beautiful and if it’s raining they have an indoor pool. They have plenty of activities to keep you busy, which is great for us since we have two active boys. My younger son enjoyed the farm and playground, while my older son loved the game room and tennis courts. If we stayed an extra day, he would have taken a mountain bike out for a trail ride.

I’ll start by sharing this hotel has been very special to my family. My great grandmother was a waitress here in her 20s. My husband and I stayed here when we got married in 2018 and have come back each year since (besides Covid 2020). We now bring our two children with us. The grounds are beautiful, rooms are clean. We were disappointed in the amenities this year. In previous years s'mores and morning coffee were included. (Now they are extra.) Also there was not a farmer at the farm Sunday morning. Dinner was also disappointing. The menu seems to be smaller (and the quality of the food has gone down.) We ended up cancelling our dinner reservations the 2nd night and driving to Gorham. We also cancelled our breakfast the 2nd morning and drove to Littleton. For an expensive resort I expect the little things like coffee and s’mores for kids to be included. That has what has set MVG apart from other quality hotels, in the past. It saddens me to say I do not think we will return.

Excellent property.. been there 3 times... the coffee shop needs to have 2 people, the lines for coffee and the wait are too long. other than that will always recommend this place

Old building , very noisy at night (creaking floors, running children in the hallway at all times, people talking), unhappy staff at check in, small sleeping room, not very pleasant
