The Villa is beautiful and well located. It is charming and our hosts were helpful and welcoming. Our room had beautiful furniture and a stunning view. There was a lot of noise from the room above us - creaking floorboards, footsteps, conversation which was not deliberately loud. In older character buildings it is likely. The large bed had a very firm mattress which I struggled to sleep on and the pillows need replacing. The bath was lovely and filled quickly. Breakfast was good, particularly the fresh fruit.
We were made very welcome and Villa Rothsay is charming.

A great location looking out over the Solent. Easy to drive to town or walk. Margaret a delight. Excellent breakfast. Bathroom old but satisfactory. Lots of yachting pictures & books, lots of old-world charm. Lots of stairs both outside & in.

Lovely quirky hotel. Very quiet. Comfortable beds, room nicely decorated and equipped. Very much appreciated the ‘honesty’ bar after an evening out. Staff were very friendly and helpful too.

We really enjoyed our stay at this late 19th / early 20th century property. Decor not modern but very unique which enhanced our experience. Staff were welcoming, helpful, and friendly. Room was clean and well presented. I'm sure Robert Plant, who recently was a guest, enjoyed his stay as much as we did. If we visit the Isle of Wight again we'll be staying here.

We only stayed for one night, just needing a place to rest our heads after the festival but we were so pleasantly surprised by the high quality of everything. Check-in was efficient, the staff were friendly and professional, the room was spacious and spotlessly clean (and the sea view was stunning!), and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We couldn't recommend Villa Rothsay more highly.

Amazing 4 night stay. Best hotel breakfasts ever, with superb quality ingredients beautifully cooked and served with a friendly smile.
Balcony room with great sea view across the Solent.
Easy walking distance to Gurnard and Cowes (be ready for up hill on the return!).
The host and all her staff were exemplary throughout, with lots of top advice on the island and nothing too much trouble.
Would return at the drop of a hat!

Delightful small hotel, with lots of local and international boating memorabilia, you could spend a very enjoyable afternoon just looking at the photographs and models all telling a story of Cowes remarkable maritime history.
The views from the front of the hotel overlooking the turning point for all the shipping leaving or entering Southampton Water are some of the best on the island, a never ending stream of famous Liners, Cruise Ships, Tankers, Container Ships, Car Transports the list is endless, truly an epicentre for sea trade.
The wonderfully comfortable public lounge with it's well stocked bar overlooks this vista, no better way to end an evening.
The freshly còoked to order breakfasts are memorable with fantastic local ingredients and a wonderful choice for all tastes.
We have always had a warm welcome from the host whenever we stay, and we thoroughly recommend this wonderfully British small hotel.

I would normally stay in a five-star contemporary hotel, with all the usual facilities. I was very surprised that there are none in Cowes, given it's a centre for international yachting. So, based on the reviews on Hotels.com and the photos, I chose this hotel. It was a great choice. The location, with harbour view from the very atmospheric and authentic 'olde world' lounge (there is an 'honesty' bar with a great stock of spirits and cold drinks and beer, so open all the time), the owner Maggie, Jackie and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating, the room and bathroom were spotless and had mod cons like large screen TV and coffee maker, but also plenty of authentic charm. Even had bath, with piping hot water all the time. High quality linen and comfortable bed. Also very quiet at night-time, as far enough out of the town, but close enough for a brisk walk in, along the promenade. Finally, the food was real 'home-cooking' and delicious, very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend. The photos do not do it justice - it's even better, and more atmospheric!

Fantastic! Such a brief stay but I was hosted by the most wonderful lady who made me feel right at home and even offered me a lift to the town due to the rain. Superb

We struggled to park outside the hotel which made a difficult start as we carried our bags up a very steep set of steps - there are a lot of steps inside and out! Once inside though, it was a quirky, comfortable place. Friendly staff, amazing breakfast and the most fantastic view of the sea from our balcony, with a pleasant walk into Cowes meant we had a lovely stay.

The hotel is furnished in Victoriana and run with great care and friendliness by Margaret who creates a country house atmosphere in the public rooms. The honesty bar is a lovely touch and the guests chat away to eachother creating a home from home atmosphere.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, Margaret was a fabulous host and the property is ideally situated to explore the local area and a base to see the rest of the island. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area :-)

The property is beautiful, lovely period building in a great location. Room was comfortable, nice big bed and great bathroom and shower. Staff are excellent, helpful and friendly and breakfast is lovely and done to your exact requirements. The room had a great view. The building could do with a bit of TLC in places and parking is limited but can not fault otherwise. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks for a great stay.
