Yeah, I feel like they could be more upfront about how they do room placements and asking if you need a top or bottom bunk available ahead of time. I am a fem solo traveler that got placed in a room of all men, which was very uncomfortable at first. The room was musty and super small to as well. There’s also one bathroom for 8 people, which worked out fine. There’s no face towels or paper towels in the hostel, so you don’t have anything to dry your hands with after using the restroom, which is wild. I also felt like staff didn’t take my concerns seriously when asking to switch from a top bunk to a bottom bunk due to mobility issues.

Great location and staff

Very convenient and close to the union station on foot. Staffs are accomodating to the guest's needs.

Nice staff and good location

This was a fairly standard hostel and suitable if you just need a place to sleep and don't mind the shared dorms. As a woman traveling solo, I felt reasonably safe. The location is convenient for getting around the city.

I found this place to be a really good hostel given the price point.

everything was good except the lack of airflow in the sleeping area that made it almost impossible to sleep in, and resulted in everyone flocking to the communal spaces for relief. It was hotter in that area than outside. If you come here, bring a portable fan, without it I would not have been able to sleep here.
besides that, it was great!! and the breakfast was delicious!

The stay was just fine and exactly what I expected. However, as I was checking out they wanted to charge my card and threatened to call the police. I had paid in advance with Expedia and later found my receipt. The staff are excellent but the manager/owner is a complete a--hole. I'm legally trained and I intend to sue them for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

They didn’t give me a towel. They didn’t show me where the shower was. I couldn’t find a shower, I saw only the sink and the toilet. It was very uncomfortable. This hostel does not make its money.

Nice

Please make showers more private and doors that actually close. Insufficient security for rooms and lockers are not big enough. Bathrooms need hand towels or paper towels, that's just basic accommodation expectations

Honestly it should of been better with the stuff around it but, having barely and hot water and doing lots of climbing sucks but the breakfast is good and the staff were amazing

They do not allowed any food or beverages in the dorm room. I would that place is in need of renovation in the future.

This hostel was okay. I booked two people dorm, which turned out to be an annex to the main building. My bedroom was not like the pictures in the website; it was very small and lacked carpet. The floor and bed were squeaky, and when I placed my backpack on the floor, it collected white ash.
The largest concern was the lack of security in the building. My bedroom had no lock and anyone comes in at any time. The tiny locker could barely fit an iPad, let alone larger devices like a laptop. The breakfast was only served after 8:30, which is quite late for a morning person. Overall I didn't get why this property had relatively high rating. Perhaps the experience would be different in the main building.

I arrived early in the morning, and was quickly oriented so that I could stay in the common area and do work on the internet.

This was the first time I stayes at a hostel. I was a bit apprehensive about sharing a room with complete strangers and using shared facilities. But now I regret having lost the chance to do that in my previous trips. The place is beautiful, clean, well equipped and meticulously maintained. The staff are real gems. Truly caring and helpful. Cleaning ladies are salt of the earth. They prepare you pancakes every morning and then clean every surface and crevice spotless. And the fellow travellers are incredibly considerate. So if you are looking for an excellent place centrally located walking distance to all attractions and some lovely conversations with people from all over the world look no further. This is it.

When I arrived to check in, my reservation should have had 2 beds but only had 1 booked due to an error in the booking system. This didn’t work for my time at the hostel. The staff said I could cancel my booking with them and get a refund.
Several days later they issued a partial refund but won’t stay true to their word with a full refund. I have reached out to them but they are refusing to issue a full refund like they said they would.

I booked last minute, so I paid a premium. They seem to do as best that they can with the set up, but I have to say that taking your shoes off at the front door lead to a really foul smell. There seemed to be more shoes than guests.

Rats are running around in the kitchen.

Not enough bathrooms for the guests and occupants in the hostel

This felt safe overall, but the codes to get in didn’t always work, the rooms were very stuffy and smelly. Creaky beds and stairs. We also were not allowed to keep certain items in the bridge. There were also no ice makers, just trays. Too expensive for a hostel.

I had lost hope in finding somewhere clean, friendly, professional, and chill but then, I tried duo housing and it was the best thing I could have found. I don't know all the staffs name but, Simone, Yasmin, are the kindest young women ever! The manager was on point when my reservation was messed up, it wasn't their fault or mines but they accommodated me anyways, another young lady made sure my new reservation was correct when I made it in from work, and all of the guest have been kind, quiet, friendly, and mindful of personal space. No fights, arguments or stressful situations. Great place to stay 10/10!!!!!!!!!!

It was perfect for the price.

There were some events in Washington so hotels were insainly pricey and I just needed one night sleep. so, I had thought i could sleep anywhere, and yes it was a huge mistake. It was not like some decent hostels I have stayed in Europe or well known chain hostels, i traveled +100 days staying +30 different hostels before and so far this place was the top 3 worst hostel i ever stayed. And the fun part is, i paid the highest price ever.
This Duo hostel is a very old facility with dirty rugs and couches, you should take off your shoes inside, even when you use restrooms.
And there are bedbugs... i got 4 spots on my legs, now all very itch and made me write this review.

I liked the location of the property. What i didn't like. There was always cold showers and i felt the staff was very unhelpful when it came to my safety. There was a male guest who started arguing with me for no reason and was very disrespectful. I felt so unsafe until he left and i tried asking the staff to move me into a different bed/room or ask when he would leave the property but it didn't seem like they didn't care. He also ignored the rules and he the staff put an extremely obese person on top of the bunk which is totally unsafe. They should of been aware of how much weight the beds can hold. I was stressed out. I feel like the property is unsafe for women. They allow men to drink alcohol and also change in the bed rooms wearing no shirts or pants. As a woman i did not like that. They need to make the property safer for women and it was always dirty. Also i feel the staff communication needs improvement on telling guests what the house rules are for the property. I would not recommend this property!

This hostel was smelly and gross. The whole place reeked of body odor. You walked in to a giant shoe rack where they make everyone take off their shoes, so you're greeted by the smell of everyone's foot odor. The rooms are pungent and the guests are gross.
This place was so disgusting that I've sworn never to stay in a hostel ever again.
