I can't say enough about the Inn and ownership quality. Very clean and comfortable Inn. The owners are the most gracious hosts. They shuttled us to the Blue Lagoon and then even to the Airport when our pre-booked taxi failed to show. We have a stellar seafood dinner in Max's Restaurant that is memorable. All the staff were friendly and kind. If you visit Iceland, you must stay here!

This was my favorite spot of my 6 night journey around the South Coast of Iceland. Such a comfortable and relaxing place. Ideal for seeing the Northern Lights (which I did!). They have games and seating area to wait inside where it is warm for the Aurora to show. If you get cold standing outside, just pop back inside for a bit to warm up and then go back outside to see more of the beautiful Aurora. The restaurant had wonderful food for dinner as well as a very nice breakfast buffet with many great options. I also enjoyed the sauna, steam room and tranquility space there. If your goal in Iceland is to see the northern lights, this is the place to do it!

The staff was extra helpful to alert patrons whenever Northern Lights were visible. They helped with photos and picture taking advice. The Inn was extra clean and very welcoming

Worth the value to stay here over the retreat

I appreciate how quiet it is, and how close to the airport it is. The northern lights wake up call was worth it!!

Wish we could have stayed longer. Really close to the blue lagoon. Great breakfast and staff. Nice, comfortable rooms.

400 euros (or dollars) one night while very basic room, very basic breakfast and no access to spa. Good points for very friendly staff, good value restaurant and honesty bar space. Overall hotel is overrated even compared to other hotels in Iceland: worst breakfast (quality and variety), worst equipment (no spa access for regular room, no bar space…)

The property was beautiful, the restaurant was delicious and the staff were truly outstanding.

In the beginning, bit worry to stay in that area due to seismic activity, but Anna explained the sitution very well and big encouragement that we are in a good hand. Bit diificult to find due to road closure, but next to Blue Lagoon. Do not follow car GPS, just drive to BL and there is a sign of this hotel. Drop of and pick up to BL every hour. Very friendly and helpful staffs. The room is big and clean. Max resto also provides a nice meal although the menu is limited. Recommended.

Exceeds expectations. Overall, service EXCELLENT even from the start of booking. VERY NEAT AND CLEAN, and the food and water is to perfection! THANK YOU NORTHERN LIGHT INN FOR TAKING CARE OF ALL OUR NEEDS WITHOUT US HAVING TO ASK. WE VERY MUCH ENJOYED AND LOVED OUR STAY.

We made a last min booking here and could not have been happier we did! Highly recommend this very special place to visitors. Originally we had plans to head to the city. This was a much much better move after landing coming to relax and unwind in the lagoon region. The hotel staff was attentive and super helpful. Loved it.

Property was sterile and barren. Staff was great. Breakfast great. Restaurant great.

This location is very close to the blue lagoon. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean as is the entire hotel with wonderful spaces to enjoy a drink or play some board games.

We enjoyed our visit to the Northern Light Inn. Convenient location for the Blue Lagoon. The hotel is really nice and a breakfast buffet is included. The only minor con is its right next to the Geothermal Power plant. Not the biggest deal just a strange view to have from your hotel. But with that said we would stay there again for sure.

The hotel and restaurant are excellent. As you drive to the property you can see portions of the Blue Lagoon. Just amazing. The only downside is the strong sulfur smell. I have not seen this comment that often in posts about the Blue Lagoon. It may be stronger now because of the recent volcanic activity that has been going on. We did not notice this smell anywhere else during our travels in Iceland this visit.

Very nice family room with a fantastic breakfast buffet. Nice location for visiting the Blue Lagoon and very friendly staff. It was halfway from the airport to Reykjavik so easy access with a rental car.

15 minute walk to blue lagoon. Right next to a power station. Clean, bright. Was asked to pay in full at check in which seemed odd. Folks leave without paying. Cheapest way to get there from airport is via the blue lagoon bus. Hotel will pick you up from there and drive you 5 mins to hotel.

Amazing stay from start to finish, the only bad thing is that I didn't stay here longer! An amazing location right next to the blue lagoon with great views on the doorstep. All the staff from checkin, breakfast and the restaurant were fantastic, war, friendly and very helpful. I will definitely visit again. Max restaurant was amazing too, definitely try it.

Lovely overnight stay - extremely close to the Blue Lagoon.

The sulphur smell was quite disagreeable when we arrived and we almost left right away. We went over to the Blue Lagoon nearby, and realized the smell wasn't too bad. Once we got back to the Inn, the smell was nearly gone. We didn't even notice it the next 3 days.

We have enjoyed our stay at Northern Lights Inn, from arrival to departure they have been very helpful and accommodating. Fridrik, Ziggy, Linda and the driver who took us to the airport, a very special thanks. The time where we were at the round about asking for a taxi, Linda has picked us up to get to the hotel instead . On our departure the alarm went off for an eruption warning and they were so kind to give us a lift to the airport right away. They were so helpful with directions and links to transport as we did not get a car rental. We enjoyed a 15 minute walk back from the blue lagoo safely. The hotel is extremely clean and organized, well filled, beds and pillows were so comfy. They tidy up everyday as well. The breakfast was fantastic. Thank you again for such amazing service and experience and we will for sure be back again. _Joyce, Lee & Adela

All of the staff were so kind and helpful. We were able to check in early after a red eye flight. Our group enjoyed the quiet and the cozy lounge spaces to hang out as a group. We used the restaurant for all of our meals as we arrived on a windy, rainy day. This is a great spot to stop for a night if you plan to visit the Blue Lagoon after flying into REK. The lava fields surrounding the hotel are other worldly!

Went recently during the potential evacuation threat, so certainly not at capacity. We also ate at the hotel restaurant. Both excellent. Truly the only really minor issue is for this level of accommodation one would expect more luxurious towels, kind of thin. Sounds petty, doesn't it?

Very lovely stay! Great facility, kind staff, delicious breakfast. Nice stay outside of the city and proximity to the Blue Lagoon.

The staff was great and very caring. We loved being able to walk to the Blue Lagoon and back.

Close to Blue lagoon however the Power plant close by spoils the atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and the inn has a Nice lounge area. Beds are confortable and the rooms are comparatively large. Parts of the inn need a refirbishment. The name “Northern light inn” can be deceiving as I don’t think it would be easy to see the lights considering the light pollution around the inn.

Not worth it for the price
