Great hotel, we really enjoyed our stay.

Very reasonably priced and in exactly the right location.

What a treat to stay in this magnificent old hotel, with views comparable to none over the church and bay. Utterly beautiful.

The most stunning location possible in big traditional hotel. My room was very cheap and quite small, though I peeped into some other rooms and they would definitely be worth paying a bit more. Lynton is 500 feet above Lynmouth at sea level. The cliff railway and multiple footpaths mean you can visit both. Good range of quality tourist shops, tea shops and restaurants. One bus which takes an hour+ from Barnstaple. Excellent holiday destination.

We came for a one night stay with our dog, wernt expecting anything amazing as the price was so good but we were so blown away by our stay! We had the dulexe double and the view was amazing i could have sat in the window seat all day. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and so accomodating, we will be back, lovely lovely place to stay, thankyou for the beautiful view ❤️

Had problems booking in to hotel, I paid al monies but it didn’t register with the hotel that I had booked, there were no rooms available so according to them there was no booking, so I had to prove that I booked with my bank statement, after about 2 hours of trying to sort out they eventually got me a room, the excuse was that they had lost the link with yourselves.

The carpet was dreadful and the decor could have done with an update. However the bed and furniture were fine. For the price it was amazing value. The staff were lovely.

Firstly to say that the reception staff were helpful and friendly.
The bed was very comfortable.
The corridors and room were grim. No bedside lights, peeling window frames, cheap unmatched curtains, bathroom with unpleasant odour. The hotel was very depressing and dismal.
There was no bar or restaurant and bacon was not allowed to be served owing to the owner’s religious beliefs. I did not have breakfast as I wanted to leave as quickly as possible. I checked out early so stayed for one instead of two nights.

I had taken two rooms.
Pros: The location of the hotel is very good. It is in the centre of Lynton Town.
Con:
1) Dirty carpet in rooms.
2) Only breakfast available that also on pre-order basis (an evening before).
3) No free parking at the premises. The nearest council parking charged £15 for 4 days.
4) The backyard of the property is closed and is poorly maintained by look.
5) No facility like vending machine etc for buying water, etc in night if needed.
6) No room service or garbage collection.
7) No replenishment of tea/coffee sachets.
8) No fan or heater in 1 room.

Property was great because we had a dog and the hotel accommodated this very well. One downside is that there is no parking at the hotel so you will need to factor this into your costs plus the hotel only did breakfast and had no bar.

Nice hotel but needs to be updated. Showers a bit of a tight squeeze. Maybe have some rooms that are pet free!! Staff brilliant.
Parking not the best.

The hotel is definitely past its prime and much of what was once a beautiful hotel has been covered up or blocked off. The views are truly wonderful, and the rooms are ok. However, I can't remember when I had a worse breakfast, at any price. The eggs were actually grey in bits, smelled and were inedible.

We’ve been to Lynton & Lynmouth so many times and it’s one of our favourite places. We just wanted a last minute reasonable price weekend which this hotel delivered on. The room and hotel generally was tired but comfortable. If you love the area and are prepared to compromise on quality of accommodation this might suit as it did us.

Very nice stay, friendly staff, incredible view. Old Victorian hotel with character. Had a nice two night stay here.

It was a spectacular building magnificently over looking Lynmouth- loved it. The team were friendly and approachable. When the building is fully refurbished it will be totally devine. Would benefit from more up market entertainment so applicable to every age range. I will definitely be back to see progress made in the hotel. Thank you everyone.

Good clean basic accomodation fairly priced for a single occupant with very helpful staff.

Even though the rooms were dated, it is an old hotel after all, we had a great one night stay at the hotel.
Full of character and all the staff were incredibly helpful and polite.

We had a great stay in Vally of Rocks hotel. Our room was very clean, a reception manager was extremely helpful and friendly. We had a superior double room which was a very simple large room with a sea view. We felt that it was an excellent value for money. We only needed a one night stay (it was a last minute idea to visit Lynton and Lynmouth). It’s also very interesting to learn about the hotel’s history and the exterior of the hotel is very grand and beautiful.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

Beautiful building, welcoming reception staff, room clean, well furnished, far reaching sea views. We didn't eat at hotel so can't comment on the food. Lots of places to eat in the locality.

Friendly helpful staff, a warm welcome, the most amazing view from our room, quiet, peaceful, parking available, lovely breakfast. Would definitely go back. Thank you to all the staff for a fabulous short break to lovely Lynton.

The room and bed was comfortable. The plumbing in ensuite was noisy.
A beautiful hotel lacking any facilities apart from room and ensuite
Price was reasonable.
Staff very nice, courteous and polite.

Room needed updating and cleanliness needs attention. Stains on carpet. No bar facilities bar permanently closed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lady on breakfast duty very pleasant and helpful. Great location with stunning views.

For a hotel that seemed to be almost empty, we were given a road facing room on the ground floor instead of being flexible and alloting one the sea facing rooms. That would have been a great gesture on their part

Lovely quaint hotel was in the middle of a transfer of ownership. Was a tiny shower and all the windows were sealed shut. Overall a good price for a couple of days in a small village to see the local sights.

The location of this hotel cannot be faulted with its amazing views. The hotel is a lovely building but could do with some TLC. Was surprised by the dinner timings only being 6-6:30 which is a bit early for adults on a break. This was compounded half way through our break when we went to order a drink to have with dinner and were told they were in new ownership and were no longer licensed to service alcohol! We ended up eating out after that. The Crown pub in Lynton is excellent and I would recommend using booking B&B at the hotel and eating out for dinner.

I love this hotel, the staff are really friendly and try really hard. The building is very old and a bit tired. If you’re looking for a shiny new hotel this is not it.
If you’re looking for character and can embrace the quirky and overlook the 200 year old draughty bits you will love it too.
The only thing that makes me sad is the health and safety firewalls it must have been stunning 100 years ago when you could look down from the corridors
