If you stay here, you are literally at the center of downtown. Clean rooms, friendly staff. You need to check in at 1661 down the road and they will store your bags on arrival/departure day. This is my second time staying here and I would again in the opportunity presented itself. You can’t go wrong at Hendrickson house!

Location is right in the center of town, so you if you desire to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle, then this place is perfect for you! In town, walkable to many beaches, shopping, dining, etc. Room was very comfortable, spacious, and clean. It can easily accommodate 3 guests. Cons: walls are thin, so you can hear chattering of guests in rooms next to you, so being respectful of the noise level is voiced by the 1661 Inn, and appreciated. Wouldn't recommend for a Family with little kids, as you do need to walk up quite a few levels of stairs, and the stairway is narrow. I believe it would prove to be difficult for a small family with little ones. However, the property was really nice and comfortable, and you can't beat the staff at the 1661 Inn! Very accommodating. We would recommend staying here and would stay again!

From start to finish this was a great experience! The room was lovely and convenient. I was offered transportation to and from this off site location. This is my third time staying here and I would do it again!

The main hotel is lovely but Hendrickson House is off site. No wifi, extremely thin walls (got woken up every morning at 6.30 by next door guests), turnover service never came and by the time we called they were gone for the day. Room isn’t that well stocked. It’s ok but would only stay if I can’t find another place.

We thought the room was very cute and conveniently located. If we were people who like to sleep in late then the mopeds outside the room in the morning would have been a problem but we had no issue with them. Overall really enjoyed our stay!

I stayed at both the Hendrickson House and at the 1661 Inn. The Hendrickson is much more convenient to downtown bars and restaurants but the 1661 is more renovated and upscale.

Very noisy people at same residence, we complained and they said 2 other people said the same. We could not sleep because of noise until 4:30 am, they gave us complimentary breakfast and contacted people . 2 nd night was much better

Our stay at the Hendrickson House with 1661 was perfect-spacious and private. Due to the approaching Hurricane we moved up our flight to leave and the staff credited us and were compassionate and gracious. When the airport closed suddenly, the staff leapt into action and got us swiftly to the last departing ferry and helped see that my children and I were safely boarded. Their cool heads and professional kindness were exemplary and we cannot thank them enough of our gratitude. The 1661 will be our inn of choice on Block island for this, as well as its beauty. Highly recommend!!

Our only complaint was we could hear what sounded like housekeeping beginning at 7 am on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Not ideal but with an old building it’s expected to not be incredibly sound proof. That aside it was a clean and charming little room and was perfect for our girls weekend!

We checked in an hour late and room was not cleaned/not ready, we were told to walk the mile to the main office for a “free $15 breakfast “ for the room not being ready. Besides that, the room was big, bathroom was big, clean, bed comfortable- had to climb 8 flights of stairs to get to the room. The hotel had nothing to offer where we stayed, but plenty of restaurants & shops within walking distance. We stayed a second night at the National Hotel which had free breakfast, a nice restaurant and bar and got a great room.

It’s was a great trip. The room was in an annex building but fun and quiet and the food at the main inn that was included is fabulous. Breakfast with mimosas and wine and nibbles 4-5 daily. Wonderful service.

The Hendrickson house was conveniently located one block away from the ferry. They upgraded us to a bigger room since it was available. The room was clean and spacious. It is in walking distance to the downtown area with shops, restaurants, bars and Ballards. The check in process is not the easiest. It would be better if they had a remote check in to the house (like a lock box or passcode) since you have to go to a separate location (the 1661 inn) to check in. The 1661 inn is about a 10-12 minute walk from the ferry so walking with bags uphill was not the easiest when the place we had rented was right next to the ferry. They did give us a ride back to the room with our bags but then to check out you have to go back to the 1661 inn.

It was a nice cheaper alternative to the higher end hotels. The check in and check our process was a pain considering you had to walk a mile each way with luggage. And the reason for booking the location we did was to be close to everything. But it was a nice place
