Nice hotel but a little tired and would benefit from a refurb.

Clean but very small room. Cheap, suitable for solo traveller. Hotel quite big largely catering for coach parties with big dining room and evening entertainment. Position close to weĺl maintained lawns at top of cliffs. Very safe, railings and benches. Magnificent views.

A wee bit old fashioned, but perfect for its customer base. Really friendly, down to earth staff, comfortable nights sleep and crackin breakfast. Super value - will use again.

We stayed at the Babbacombe hotel for 3 nights. The room was comfortable and the sea view was breathtaking. We stayed on a bed and breakfast only basis and the breakfast was good. A choice of fruit, cereal and hot food

Can't thank the staff enough for going the extra mile and on multiple occasions at that - not least getting me sorted with another nights stay during the rail strike (they were at capacity). Everyone provided exceptional service and it was very much appreciated - even the night manager was happy to give advice of when to get the best photos over the bay. The hotel is in a perfect location overlooking the bay (definitely worth paying extra for a room with a view or better still a balcony). The hotel itself looks nice, bright and is spacious, offering plenty of facilities for guests to use. The rooms were recently decorated with modern ensuites and are well kitted out, including a fan which was great at cooling us down during the heatwave. Great value for money.

The hotel catered mainly for 2 coach parties, food was buffet breakfast and a limited evening menu.
The room (with balcony) was much smaller than expected with minimal facilities. The room also smelled strongly of stale tobacco, the staff did quickly change the bedding, pillows and sprayed deodoriser but the smell still lingered. Rooms 33-39 including the more expensive balcony/sea views are very noisy due to being directly above the evening entertainment room, there were no alternative rooms available. There is also no option to charge drinks or food to the room everything is 'pay as you go'. Overall an average hotel somewhat overpriced and disappointing food service which encouraged us to eat out every night with a good restaurant (Hamiltons) and 2 pubs within walking distance.

I would have thought that a pretty basic requirement of a hotel is to provide an evening meal. Not the Babbacombe apparantly. We were only told at check-in that the restaurant was fully booked, there only seemed to be one 'sitting' and they made no effort whatsoever to offer alternatives or try to suggest other places nearby. So after a 4 and a half hour drive from West Sussex, we had to go out again in search of something to eat. Luckily for us, a nearly hotel (The Royal) couldn't have been more helpful, giving us an excellent meal. We returned to the Babbacombe for a coffee and my wife asked for a liqeuer coffee. The young barman, while doing his very best to be helpful really should have asked a supervisor for advice, because he had absolutely no idea how to make a liqeuer coffee. It ended up being made with milk and not cream! Also, it is not at all obvious from the website that there is virtually no parking at the hotel and they email you AFTER the booking is confirmed to offer parking at £10 per night! On the positive side, the room was OK and the breakfast was well-cooked and generous. At checkout, it was pretty perfunctory and we were not asked at all if we had enjoyed our stay. Overall impression - they do pretty much the minimum they can get away with. Disappointing.
