This hotel is FANTASTIC. Our superior two twin bed room doesn't have much of a view.... but everything else about this hotel we love. We originally booked this hotel for 2 nights and decided to stay for 5 nights. The location is perfect. It is very close to many great restaurants and markets. We can walk to most everywhere we want to go. It is also very close to all forms of public transportation. It is not in a super busy part of Kyoto. It is city life that feels very pleasant and easy to manage. The hotel is immaculate, it is the cleanest hotel we have stayed in and we have been all over Japan. The housekeeping does a fantastic job. Every day we feel we are returning to a room that was prepared for new guests! The hotel has an onsen, but we haven't tried it yet. They have a lounge that offers drinks and snacks that are included in your stay! It is lovely and we have met many people in the lounge. The staff has been super kind and friendly. They have laundry machines that wash and dry. Everything in the hotel is beautiful. We highly recommend it.

Wonderful hotel. Beautifully designed room. Comfortable. Quiet. Clean. Highly recommended.

It is right down town and you can walk to many tourist sites. The temples and shrines are located outside the city due to high taxes.

Very nice clean hotel with many amenities close by. Friendly staff and very comfortable rooms.

A nice modern hotel. The lounge was a bonus. Free afternoon tea snacks, and then beer, wine and cocktails all included from 5 pm to 9 pm! Convenience shops nextbdoor. A short walk to many restaurants but the shopping was a bit further.

Iconic lounge which was included in our stay was a great place for a drink/snack

What a gem of a hotel we discovered in the heart of Kyoto but just minutes from so many things we wanted to do. We only had 2 days in Kyoto & this was the perfect base for us to work from!

Amazing place and great service

The staff here was very kind and helpful. The location was also great. My only concerns were privacy within the room and mild dust. There was only a thin curtain separating the bathroom sinks and the clear, see-through glass window shower/bath area from the rest of the room.

A very interesting concept hotel, enjoyed it a lot. Location is great for exploring Kyoto on foot or using local transport

I loved our room. We booked a corner suite and it was spacious, quiet, stylish and comfortable. The view was spectacular.

This was an excellent choice. We enjoyed this hotel the most throughout our Japan stay. I stayed with 2 of my teenage children. We especially enjoyed the lounge area, me the cocktails. We didint get a chance to visit the onsen.

New hotel, very well equiped, smart services, especially the second floor offerings are great. Located close to the cross of the two underground lines.

Beautiful and very clean. Karasuma Oike subway station is a short 5 minute walk. There are a few attractions within about 10-15 minutes walk. Otherwise, the train/bus/taxi may be necessary. The quiet and relatively central location was great for us on our short stay.

TL;DR 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend
This is my second time staying at this place (and most likely not the last time). For a relatively expensive (still cheap) hotel, the Royal Park Hotel Iconic Kyoto has everything. Room is spacious and very clean; less than 1 minute walk to bus/subway station, and walkable to many places with many many good (and cheap) restaurants nearby; very quiet since it is not a heavy communal center. My wife and I happen to witness the parade in Gion Matsuri, and the parade literally starts at the doorstep of the hotel.
The Expedia bundle gives access to the free afternoon tea, which is nice if you don’t want to be out in the hot Kyoto afternoons.

The staff at The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Kyoto were gracious, thorough and attentive. We routinely saw the staff at the check in desk walk the guests out and arrange transportation. We had their help as well. They helped us arrange luggage transport and finding our way to various spots . They answered questions and guided us whenever we needed help. They are generous in arranging various times of the day and evening for complimentary snack, sweets and cocktails. The restaurant served a deliciously prepared Japanese breakfast and although I’m sure their American breakfast is wonderful too, we were so glad to have opted for the Japanese. There is a mature yet open vibe to this hotel that stood out to us and set it apart. The hotel was quiet inside and a nice respite from long days of exploring the beauty and people of Kyoto. We left wishing we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back there. Thank you RPHIK for the wonderful stay. With gratitude and until next time….. Arigatogozaimasu❣️

The staff were very courteous and helpful. We especially liked the daily complimentary tea time and happy hours. The tea and small cakes were delicious and very pretty. The nightly free drinks and appetizers were a top notch. The location was very conveniently located to the subway. The property was very well maintained and clean. Out of all hotel experiences in Japan, the Royal Park was the best.

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Park Hotel Iconic in Kyoto. Our family of 5 stayed there for 5 days during our Japan trip, in two rooms. The hotel itself was extremely clean, and a nice blend of modern with classic Japanese lines and features. The beds, bedding, and pillows were so comfortable! They provided clean pajamas and wonderful toiletries. The staff was very nice and easy to work with.
The location of the hotel could not be better! It is right at the intersection of the two main subway lines that cross Kyoto, and it was easy to get to everything: Ito Castle is a short 10-minute walk. The main shopping streets were also an easy walk. And we could walk (or bus) to Gion in 15-20 minutes, so we could enjoy the sights there, but not have to stay in the hustle bustle. In retrospect, we don't think we could have stayed at a better place.
Other notes: We paid for lounge access, and felt it was well worth it. The treats at tea time were divine and delivered to your table in adorable little suitcases! The bar was great and the bartender was very nice. We did not try the restaurant, but it looked lovely. We did not purchase the breakfast included, but there was a nearby bakery within several minutes' walk called Flip Up! which we visited for breakfast goods every day. (Good thing we did so much walking!) Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to take advantage of the public baths, but will do so on our next visit.

This is a very luxe, western-leaning type of hotel in the center of everything in Tokyo. Beautiful facilities and very well appointed rooms, with tons of amenities, including a lounge with complimentary afternoon tea and evening cocktails, appetizers, as well as a communal soaking bath (gender segregated). The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the street facing rooms are subject to a LOT of traffic noise, since the hotel is situated on a main drag. The other “complaint” is that our room was very tight in terms of the space to walk/move around that furniture, particularly the beds and sofa area. The clearance between the bed edge and walls/window area wasn’t even a foot, so you kind of had to shimmy sideways in and out of bed. This may have been a function of ours being a double twin room. Perhaps the King room offered more clearance between the bed and walls. That said, the bends were quite comfortable. Would visit again but ask for a king room away from the street.
Last thing I’ll mention is if you’re looking for a western style breakfast, you’re better off visiting one of the boulangeries or coffee shops in the surrounding area. They offer one but it’s very basic - eggs, toast, very small fruit offering - and it doesn’t vary from day to day. The Japanese style breakfast, on the other hand, is quite elaborate and interesting.
Overall, a very pleasant stay and would recommend with just those few caveats.

Hotel was not near restaurants & was too far away from Kyoto Station.

This was my second stay at this hotel and it was equally as amazing as the first time! The staff are lovely and the location is ideal if you're wanting to be near shops and great restaurants.

Check in was smooth, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the room was fabulous!! We had a corner room with a wrap around balcony and the walls facing outside were all glass - and the bathroom was so awesome, a shower room with a bathtub - highly recommend this hotel if you are in Kyoto!! And near the subway and attractions too!!

Very friendly staff, check-in process was smooth in English. The hotel itself is conveniently located with lots of things within a 10-15 minute walk. The room itself was very nice, clean, smelled good, was a good size, and even had a small couch.
