Do not think twice and book your stay at Uma Kalai! nice retreat with amazing views. hospitality at its finest, the attention to detail is amazing and the staff are exceptional. Ubud centre is only a short ride away. Definitely will come back if I have the chance in the future
can’t fault this place on anything! maybe the frogs at night😂

We booked the Tejas Villa for 5 days and it more than exceeded our expectations!! Prior to arrival we got added to a WhatsApp group for any and all questions or wishes we may have. The welcome by Eka and Gusti was fantastic and made us feel welcome and special. After checking in Gusti showed us around and escorted us to the room; what a stunning room it was!! We stayed in a few places in our lifetime but this probably tops them all; the service really made it special.
Big thanks to Eka, Gusti, Dicky, Royani en ladies from the spa. Also big thanks to Rana the driver!! What a top team.
Highly recommended for couples who wish to be pampered for a few days in tranquility. The view over the padis from the sundeck is also great!! We will most certainly be back.
There’s nothing we did not like!!!

uma kalai is just wonderful in all aspects. We had quite a lot experience with luxury resorts all over the world but even at this standard uma kalai is among the best. What’s unique is its quietness, intimacy and home-like feeling from the staff. Highly recommend

Uma Kalai is heaven on earth! One of the most serene and picturesque locations I've been to, overlooking huge paddy fields.
The villas are extremely well-appointed and luxurious, and all facets to ensure an extremely comfortable stay have been well thought through. The spa services were very good, we treated ourselves to multiple massages as the masseuses were excellent.
Additionally, the food is amazing and the staff and cooks are extremely flexible to your dietary preferences. Gluten-free and milk alternatives are easily delivered - I was pleasantly surprised!
Easily the icing on the cake was the staff, simply the most pleasant, hospitable, welcoming, and knowledgeable staff I've seen in a while - THANK YOU Dicky, EKA and Gusti, and many others who worked behind the scenes to make our stay memorable.

The property is very well designed in a very tranquil, serene setting that is exquisitely welcoming and well-suited to the atmosphere of Ubud. There are only 3 rooms and 3 villas and that is, in our personal opinion, the best way to achieve the utmost optimal attention to detail and personalized service at it's highest level. The villa we stayed at is called Tejas (Fire element) and was, fittingly, a warm and cozy respite from busy days sightseeing in Ubud and its surrounding areas. Our favorite features in the villa are the Steam Therapy Room fitted in the shower, and the heated plunge pool. The views from the main pool were also stunning. The food from their restaurant were just consistently delicious at every meal. And last but absolutely not the least, we loved the staff like they were our family away from home, as they were just that impeccable in their hospitality and warmth. We were glad to have met Ibu Eka, Bapak Gusti, Adik Dickey, and Bapak Rana. They have made our stay so very memorable and we cannot wait for the next time we come back to visit. Terimah Kasih!🙏😊

The warm welcoming by the staff specially EKE and her team,
Dicky and Gusti they were very helpful and cooperative.
Also i need to mention that they have upgraded my room to Jala room, the room was very nice.
I really enjoyed my stay there and i recommend it for anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful place with this nice and friendly staff.

My wife and I had a fantastic honeymoon at this hotel. The service was flawless, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel is impeccably clean, with housekeeping visiting twice a day. It's a peaceful and romantic place, with the best hotel staff we've ever encountered. They were all polite, professional, and helpful, and we're grateful to each and every one of them.
Special thanks to Gusti, who provided exceptional service with a smile, and to Dicky, who greeted us warmly and went out of his way to assist us when we arrived late. Eka was also incredibly helpful and professional, and Nana was lovely too. The entire team was on hand to help whenever we needed it.
The hotel is brand new, just like the pictures, and everything is well-organized with beautiful furnishings. They have everything you could possibly want, and we were delighted with our choice to stay here for our honeymoon. We highly recommend this place in Ubud to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience.
Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable. We truly appreciate all your hard work and dedication.

The property was stunning and very intentional. Our villa had a private pool which was heated and very nice. The breakfast area overlooks the jungle and field, which is very relaxing. You get a great value and the staff was exceptional. They were so accommodating and kind and really enhances our stay. It was our honeymoon and they decorated our room and gave us a dessert, making our stay even more special.

A beautiful property with only 6 villas set in the lush tropical Ubud. All villas are tastefully designed and gave a lovely mix of traditional but luxe. The best thing about the property was the divine staff. They really did make us feel like family. Especially Ecka and Gusti, they were amazing. We were fortunate enough to be invited to the local blessing ceremony, it was a wonderful genuine experience.
The property is approximately 15-30 minutes from Ubud Centre you need a driver to access shopping/restaurants.

This is really a cozy paradise. The hospitality and caring for guests is truly top standard. The view is spectacular and facility is five star. We enjoyed the holiday ceremony held in the hotel temple and it is life experience ever. Meals are served with heart.
I really hope to stay longer

*Service: The moment when we arrive the resort, Uma Kalai team, especially EKA and Gusti, welcomed us friendly and showed us the tiny tour around this isolated heaven. We were shocked by their 24-hours no stop service spirit and always got decent suggestions for our local trip and exploring adventure. They always acted before you mentioned your requirements. Such a warm and professional team.
*Location: this resort looks like quite hidden from the Main Street, but you’ll find it far away from crowded tourists and located above a cliff, which is face to the rain forest, paddy fields and magnificent mountain scenery. Also there is a main river running through the bottom of our cliff. You cannot imagine the amazing feelings when you come here to enjoy your breakfast and listen to the river at the same time
*Villas: there are only 6 villas of Uma Kalai. It’s so easy to miss your chance if you won’t book the room early in advance;) Our villa is installed with Sauna room and heated plunge pool surrounded by numerous trees, grass and flowers. To maximum enjoy all these facilities, we even tried the early swimming around 3am. Bathing ourselves inside the deep nature was one of my best experience.
*Food: the choices on menu is little bit limited, but far enough for us to begin the local food tour. The breakfast including fruits, fresh juice, toast and hot dishes are all well served and light seasoning. We do like their special drink and very classic Bali dessert and almost eat it everyday! If you wanna explore more local food, food delivery will be a good choice. Uma Kalai team would even display your food and serve you in your villa or public area.
Generally, thanks for this amazing resort and its team, I will strongly recommend Uma Kalai to any traveler who wanna get rid of tiredness and enjoy the pleasant time in Bali. You’ll never regret to choose here!
Nothing need to be improved, just keep going on

Words alone cannot do this resort justice. Uma Kalai surpassed our every expectation.
We were picked up from the airport by the smiling and welcoming Mr. Rana who had fresh coconut water and cold towels ready for us. They were definitely needed after a long flight.
At the reception, we were welcomed by Mr. Dicky with a hot cup of tea which was delicious. We were then taken to our villa (Tejas) which was impeccably clean. The bed comes equipped with a mosquito net, which is a must in Bali. To this end, they also provide mosquito repellant for the guests which was a thoughtful touch.
We always had breakfast at the resort (Amma restaurant), and the dishes were always fresh. We had plans to take trips from the resort (they provide sightseeing tours at a reasonable rate) but our plans were scuppered because of incessant rains.
This is where Uma Kalai shone through. The resort spa (Santi Spa) provides excellent massages. The staff, Mrs. Nonik and Mrs. Yuni, is extremely competent and respectful. We took multiple massages at the spa, and we had a great experience. We would recommend the Javanese Royal Lulur and the Deep Tissue Massage.
Since the rains were heavy, we ended up eating at the resort restaurant. Chef Murni is a genius. We tried multiple dishes - Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng, Rendang, Sambhar, Samosa, Lawar Pakis, Spaghetti Aglio Olio. Each dish was delicious and perfectly prepared. Oh, and we love that the chef knows how to make food spicy. It was heavenly. We loved it so much that we even took a cooking class with the chef and learned how to make Sambal and Satay sauce. It was an enriching experience.
The staff at the hotel - Mrs. Ekka, Mr. Dicky and Mr. Gusti, was always eager to help. They made us feel like a part of their family. We really enjoyed the fact that they were always available for a casual chat and they told us in detail about Balinese culture and traditions. It was fun to find parallels with Indian culture and traditions. Ms.

Our stay was nothing short of incredible. The hotel itself is very intimiste with only six rooms and so you’re able to escape from the hustle and bustle of Ubud to relax and unwind.
The staff at Uma Kalai are the hotel’s biggest asset. They are attentive, incredibly thoughtful and willing to go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and help you wherever possible. They are always smiling and have great energy. We’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world but the customer service here is truly exceptional.
We’ll be back and will be recommending the hotel to our friends and family.
Thank you for everything!
Nearby construction work (not the hotel’s fault in the slightest).

Feels like a private villa as opposed to a resort. Has a luxurious personalised feel. The healer and temple blessing was excellent, I felt in good hands.
All rooms are different, it’s worth noting this as in hindsight we would have preferred the apartments with a view over the valley. In the villa we had there was nowhere to sit and relax so we just ended up in the main area lounge most of the time.

We stayed at Bhumi villa. It was the most beautiful villa, a perfect balance of modern and rustic feels. The staff is so professional and polite. They made our stay so perfect and wonderful. We ended up staying in the villa for the whole afternoon to enjoy our beautiful private pool.

We absolutely loved staying at this place. The hotel is a small boutique hotel with only 6 villas, which is exactly what we like. the property is beautiful and very well kept but the best thing about staying here was the staff, they went out of their way to make sure we were looked after and had everything we needed. We are frequent travellers and this was one our our best experiences to date.

An amazing small hotel offering exceptional accommodation and services. There was not a single thing about the hotel that we could fault our room was an oasis of calm and comfort, the bed was amazing! The room had everything and more than we expected such as a steam room shower and fresh fruit and coffee pods topped up throughout the day. Eka, Dicky and Gusti provided amazing service nothing was too much trouble. The menu offered gluten free options and everything was delicious the oat lattes were a favourite. The spa was lovely and Agung provided a wonderful massage

Simplicity at its best.
3 rooms with nice views and 3 Pool Villas. Every room and Villa has its own unique features with no further sophistication.
Location in a small village, quiet and peaceful.
Service is excellent with personal care and adjustments to whatever you want, including dietary restrictions.
HEATED Villa pool! means swim whenever you want.
Extra Services are at reasonable costs, just wished that the prices shown included Tax’s.

A little and romantic cocoon, with only 3 rooms and 3 mini villas. It is intimate and quiet with a stunning view over the rice fields. The staff was amazing and friendly.

Absolutely stunning. The villa as well as the entire hotel grounds offered the highest comfort. Very luxurious in all aspects. Everything was very clean and up to date. The staff was extremely welcoming and supportive at all times. The view from the pool and restaurant area was incredible. The perfect place to calm down and relax, but still being very close to the city center of Ubud.
All in all we definitely recommend staying at Uma Kalai - we enjoyed it to the fullest.

It was very very good that we choose this little hotel for our Ubud stay. It is a little bit away from the town, but anyhow you need a short drive from everywhere. This is a new place with 3 little villas (earth wind and fire) and 3 rooms in the front. It has a wonderful “living room” where you can stay or eat or just relax. In front of you there is the pool and the scenery, which at my first site I had to cry! It is amazingly beautiful! We booked a villa but when we arrived we wished to have the big front room, which we got and we did not have to pay more. Just one step from the nice pool, just one step from the tables where we had good breakfasts and dinners. We were treated with the biggest kindness and readyness and like valued family members. It is expensive but worth the money, because you will remember with joy and warm hearth for it long.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Uma Kalai. From the room, view, pool, facilities and the staff at the resort who were so helpful and friendly, it was perfect. I’d highly recommend this resort to a couple celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon or birthday
The food options if you are staying for more than a few days is slightly limited. However the food and drinks here are delicious and if you want to order food the staff will happily assist and plate it up for you.

Amazing hospitality, serene hideaway, superb facilities, soothing Spa were a few highlights of the stay. Special thanks to Agung who was very helpful in getting back my luggage which was lost during transit. The Earth villa where we stayed had amazing features, heated plunge pool, seperate living area , comfy bed and all the modern facilities. Highlight of the whole stay was personnel care they gave throughout the stay in arranging tours and transport.
Although the quality and presentation of the food were wonderful,Food menu seemed to be limited.
