About this cottage rental

Original 1940's Broadkill Beach Cottage, third back from the water, and fully remodeled in July 2022. The home maintains all of its original charm while providing all of the modern conveniences. The location can't be beat, you will be a short walk to the bay and sandy beach and only a short drive to local restaurants, shopping, and recreation.

As you approach the house you will see the firepit surrounded by comfortable seating in the stone patio. It is a great spot to build a fire and toast marshmallows in the evening or enjoy the morning breeze and sounds of the waves. Enter in through the screened in porch and be tempted to sit in the oversized wicker chairs under the ceiling fan and listen to the waves. Proceeding through the front door you enter the Great Room which will please all of your family members. There are many comfortable seating options including a leather sleeper sofa, table with 4 chairs, bench that opens to reveal the board game stash. Two lighted ceiling fans will help keep you comfortable. You will also find a coffee table that doubles as a Foosball table and a wall mounted smart TV. The granite breakfast bar with seating for 4 divides the great room and kitchen and is great place to grab a quick meal or play a game. Step into the kitchen that is fully outfitted with granite counters and stainless appliances. The full size fridge features a water dispenser and ice maker. For quick meals there is a microwave hood above the range. Open the cabinets and find everything you need to prepare a meal that a chef would approve of and a dishwasher to help with the clean up when you are done.

The bathroom is small but does not lack any features. You will find the original medicine cabinet and sink with new toilet and walk in shower. The laundry room has a stacked washer and dryer and a closet with basic supplies. You can exit to the fully fenced back yard, which your pets will enjoy. There is also an outdoor shower with hot and cold water, perfect for when you return from the beach.

When you are tired from all of the days adventures we have a number of sleeping options. There is a spacious master suite complete with king bed, sofa, TV, ceiling fan, and 2 Closets. The younger members of the group will enjoy the bunk room. This room can be entered through the great room or the master bedroom. There is a trundle bunk bed, so 3 people can sleep comfortably. There are 3 lockers for clothes storage, a smart TV on the wall, ceiling fan, and original hardwood floors. The third bedroom has a Queen bed, original hardwood floors, smart TV, ceiling fan, and views of the sunrise. For additional sleeping options there is a pull out queen sofa in the great room.

PLEASE NOTE--linens and towels are not provided. You must bring your own or there are several rental companies that service the area.

The house is equipped with beach chairs and a collapsible wagon to help you transport all of your gear. There is a selection of beach toys for the young and young of heart.

Well behaved dogs under 75 pounds are welcome, maximum of 2, with payment of pet fee. Please make sure to select traveling with pets.

We loved that it took all of 3 minutes to walk to the ocean. It was wonderful taking our dog for a two-mile walk every morning. We so appreciated the gift card, and the hoagies we got from the Broadkill store made for a great first evening dinner. Broadkill beach is so very quiet - we feel as if we found the best beach in DE!

My daughter, dogs and I spent a week in May at this cute cottage on Broadkill Beach. The house was clean and nicely set up. The screened in front porch is bigger than it appears and was perfect for hanging out. The fenced backyard was a godsend for the dogs. Although the cottage can theoretically sleep 8, I wouldn’t recommend it as the living area is very small and the one bathroom is tiny. My only (minor) complaint was that the outside shower wasn’t turned on during our stay. It would have been useful after coming back from the beach.

I stayed for a week mid-May just before the summer season really kicked in. I worked part-days and the 5G wifi was strong. Brought my dog and we enjoyed walking 30 seconds to the beach! I like being removed from busier beaches but was a quick drive to Lewes for restaurants. Thank you!

The cottage is nicely situated and charming. It has recently been renovated. It is on the small side but it worked well for my daughter and me. It was clean and nicely furnished and supplied. You will need your own coffee and sheets. It’s a short 1 minute walk to the beach.

Met neighbor who was very nice and happened to be friends with a farmer my family knows. Would suggest replace the couch or put cover on it. Was very sticky and slick with whatever was used on it. Ended up putting 2 sheets on it before sitting on it. My best friend came for a couple of nights. She mostly stayed in big bedroom reading and getting some much needed sleep. My dog and I slept in the first room with queen size bed. I read a lot. Got to enjoy the beach and let my dog run one day. Was really nice to get a much needed rest from caring for my 93 year old mom since my 94 year old daddy passed in Dec 2021 after I cared for him.

Our family has a long history with this beach, so the mixture of old and new in the house brought back fond memories, while providing every modern amenity. A prime location, a responsive and supportive host, as well as the wildlife made this winter "bucket list" stay a winner.

We really enjoyed our time at this cottage. It was a great location within a few steps of the beach. It was clean and comfy and had all the things we needed. It was very cold and windy outside, but the house was warm and great to spend time just hanging out in. Will definitely be back!

This house was a little gem. It seemed like an original beach house, with a decent amount of room, window air conditioners and fllor heaters. It was very comfortable. The interior design work was on-point for the season. The kitchen had many amenities. You supply your own linens, towels but there is a washer and dryer to use if needed. Our 30 lb dog loved to run in the fenced back yard. It was a short walk to the dunes and then to the beach. The fire pit and wood was a nice plus. The hosts answered questions in a very timely manner. It was a great experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The king bed was SO comfortable. The inside shower is a little small but having the outside shower helped with that. The dogs (and humans) appreciated the fenced in yard. Super close proximity to the beach!!

Loved the quiet peaceful laid back atmosphere. Like the shore in the 1950's. If you like beaches with no crowds, to walk your dogs maybe surf fish, then this is the place. If you like night life , not for you. A few miles away in Milton you can find all you need for dinner.

Highly recommend! Had a lovely stay in early September. The neighborhood is quiet and the beach is just steps away. The cottage is nicely updated but still comfortable. The bed in the master suite is wonderful! The kitchen is nicely equipped with everything a family would need. The owners have a lovely welcome guide that makes suggestions for local restaurants, that was very helpful. My dogs enjoyed the fenced in yard, and it was lovely to walk them on the beach in the mornings.

We thoroughly enjoyed the property and it was a great size for us and our two dogs. The master bedroom is very spacious and the fenced in backyard a plus for the dogs. The proximity to the beach is fantastic and you can walk to the general store if you need anything. The host was very accommodating with our check in due to our travel plans and was very communicative. Thank you! Well stocked with everything you could need. Our family had a great time at this cozy beach house on Broadkill beach. Witnessing 4th July fireworks on the beach was an awesome experience. The house was just perfect for our family of 3 and a dog. The easy access to the beach was a huge win along side the well equipped home. My daughter loved the books and games collection and we all enjoyed the entertainment package on tv. My dog also had an amazing time and even made some beach buddies.

This is a very beachy property! It’s close to the beach with a nice screened porch, well-stocked kitchen and 3 bedrooms. It’s an old-style, 1 story place with a small bathroom. It has everything you need (including beach chairs and toys) if what you want to do is spend time at the lovely beach. Best of all, your pets are as welcome and comfortable as you will be. We highly recommend this place! The owner Lisa left extra treats for the dogs and a mat for the floor (on request) that helped our old dog get around. Thanks, Lisa!

Broadkill Beach truly is just steps from this little house. My husband and I were there in the spring, so not swimming weather, but it was great for walks on the beach. The house worked well for us and our very old dog (who didn't take advantage of the fenced back yard as much as younger pups would). We liked the old-fashioned-but-renovated quality. The primary bedroom is very large, and the bed's really comfortable. The kitchen's well-stocked. One note: bring ALL linens, including dish towels and bathmat. Lisa was great with communication and suggestions. I gave the location 4 stars rather than 5 because we concluded we like to be a bit closer to restaurants, supermarket, etc. But that's just us!

My wife and I took advantage of a beautiful weather window. On short notice we were able to seamlessly book the Sea Shanty and enjoyed five days of peace on a quiet section of Broadkill Beach. The cottage had all the necessities to cook if desired, beds were comfortable and a short walk brings you to a nice section of the beach. We would definitely love to return to this hidden gem!

My parents, husband, puppies and I had a very relaxing stay this Easter weekend. The cottage is small but we made it work. Lisa was extremely helpful and responsive to all of our questions. The area was very quiet during the weekend but there was a lot of construction going on come Monday morning. Sadly this little cottage was surrounded by mega beach house construction. The very best part about renting here was that every morning you can walk about 50-100 yards to see the sunrise on the beach. If you’re looking for a small space with your pups to be super close to a natural beach this is the place for you. ☺️ Thank you Lisa for sharing your cottage with my family.

We had a nice time at this small cottage a short walk to the beach. Well-stocked kitchen, comfortable furnishings, great screened-in front porch. Very quiet area. The fenced back yard - fairly empty but not flat - worked out well for our 2 dogs.

We had a lovely stay at Broadkill Beach. Lisa was always in communication with us…answered any questions quickly. She left us a wonderful gift bowl full of local goodies…even dog treats. The bungalow was plenty big and comfortable. Our 2 small dogs had a great time especially being so close to the very dog friendly beach. The only thing that could be improved was the shower which was kind of cramped, but there was plenty if hot water. The rest of the bathroom was fine. Would definitely come back again!
