About this cottage rental
Welcome to this beautifully updated Mid-Century Ranch directly on Maple Juice Cove with over 200 feet of water frontage. Guests enjoy their own private 100-ft stationary wharf over the water (pictured) in addition to the 10X30 floating dock for direct access to the calm waters of Maple Juice Cove. Swim, kayak, innertube or just enjoy the views of nature as well as the comings and goings of the lobster fleet from Sheep’s Point. The property itself is 2 very private acres of lawn and gardens stretching along the waterfront, ideal for yard games, or just enjoying the ever changing water views.
The cottage is located a short distance from all Midcoast Maine has to offer such as the towns of Rockland and Camden, with their vibrant art and restaurant scenes. For a more home-town feel, visit the even closer quaint towns of Damariscotta, Thomaston, Friendship (with Jameson Point Lobster) and the charming fishing village of Port Clyde.
Cove Cottage is a 1950’s ranch home which was renovated in 2022. Currently there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen. Mattresses are memory foam and pillow-top Sealys, respectively. There is also an outbuilding bunk house with 2 twin beds. The bunk house is ventilated, insulated and secure but unheated. The bunk house may be furnished with either linens from the house, or the sleeping bags provided by the hosts. The one bath is large with a large shower. The lower level features a queen-size pull-out sofa, and a single chair that folds out into a twin cot. Window air conditioners in each bedroom are provided for your comfort. The fireplace in the living room is a fully functional wood-burning fireplace-a wonderful way to spend a fall evening.
The cottage has been curated in a Danish-influenced American Mid Century style, including some original art from the Long Island art scene of the 1960s. Guests can appreciate the views from the deck and the screen-in porch. Due to low light pollution, on dark, clear nights the Starscape views from the wharf approximate those of a dark-sky preserve. The screened-in porch offers a bug-free dining and lounging outdoor option. There is also a large fire pit for the occasional bonfire. For your convenience we will provide the following: fully furnished kitchen, linens, (2) sleeping bags, bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, beach towels, your first tank of propane for the gas grill, dish soap, dish washing soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, a supply of toilet paper and paper towels, and one can of DEET bug spray. There are 2 kayaks/paddles on property, and 2 5-foot tractor tire rubber inner tubes for water enjoyment. We also have life jackets in a variety of sizes, including children's. We offer wireless high-speed internet and a Samsung Smart TV, with which guests may stream from their Netflix, Hulu, Prime, HBOmax, Internet etc accounts. The Game Room has a felt-topped, vintage 52"poker table for card and board games. Presently we offer the following: a full professional poker set; Boston Edition Monopoly; Cards Against Humanity and extension packs (for adults); Choking Hazard (also adults); Uno and others. In the alcove is a cocktail-table style Vintage Arcade on which 1 or 2 players may enjoy games such as Ms. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Space Invaders, Centipede and >400 others. Fun for kids and a walk down memory lane for adults. For the sake of parents' sanity, the sound effects on the video arcade, which are original to each game, can be turned down or off altogether.
Washer and Dryer are on property and free. Detergent and dryer sheets are provided.
While we make every effort to assure the accuracy of this listing, as well as the condition of equipment and quality of provided services, we make no implied guarantee of connectivity for wireless internet, or services provided by a third party. We will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding. Please wear the vest when using the kayaks and/or innertubes. Due to the tide, the depth of the cove is highly variable, and there are rocks. DO NOT dive from either the standing wharf or the floating dock. To help you plan water activities, a tide clock is mounted to the wall near the fireplace.

We spent a glorious week exploring Maine and this house was our refuge. The kids loved the kayaks and dock, I loved the screened porch! The air is cleaner here! We were frequent flyers at Wallace's. Can't say enough great things about this area and house! Thank you!

This was our second summer at the Maple Juice Cove cottage and we would highly recommend it again. It has all the amenities one might need (and more). Immaculately clean, plentiful bed linens and towels, fully equipped kitchen, your own private dock with comfy seating for early morning coffee or happy hour, and a roomy yard with a fire pit. The screened-in gazebo is perfectly outfitted for enjoying a meal or reading a book away from the mosquitoes.
This quiet spot is a wonderful place to get-away, kayak and watch the Great Blue Herons, but also close enough to easily access Thomaston, Rockland/Rockport, Camden or points south for museums, hikes, & great restaurants!

Our stay was just fantastic from the view to the accommodations. The downstairs is great for the family and provides another area to play games and watch TV. The kitchen has everything you could imagine and the 2nd fridge in the garage is excellent with a family.
Ryan was prompt to respond to our questions. Check in was easy and the place was very clean. The dock is magical and we spotted multiple shooting stars. I highly recommend this property.

Very clean, beautifully appointed and ideally located. We had a great stay and reserved our dates for a return.

Great stay and will definitely come back in the future! The Mid Coast area has so much more to explore and this property is the perfect place. The entire family had a blast using the arcade game when the weather wasn’t cooperating and everyone loved being able to kayak straight from the dock.

We loved staying at this waterfront property for a week in July. The furniture and decor was well curated and we enjoyed reading about its history. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking at home most nights. My husband and I enjoyed using all of the amenities the property had to offer (e.g. corn hole, Solo Stove, kayaks, screened in porch, arcade games). This property was perfect for a quiet and relaxing vacation.

The house is exactly as described. Ryan was super responsive. The beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the kayaks and wrapping up the evening with classic video games. Our only issue was with the water pressure, which did not get repaired before we left. However, Ryan made arrangements to have the water filter changed to alleviate the problem for future guests. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay at Ryan’s house.
We really enjoyed kayaking on the quiet cove.
The only minor drawback is that some vehicles drive fast on the road in front of the house.

We absolutely loved our stay on Maple Juice Cove! The kayaking from the gorgeous boat dock was incredible. The waterfront location is so peaceful. A flock of wild turkeys hung out with us regularly. We enjoyed many other birds that kept busy on the tidal waters.
The thermostat was broken upon arrival, so we spent two chilly nights with a space heater until it could be fixed. While the host did provide us with firewood to help heat the house via the fireplace he did not offer any discount for the stay. We made due with the warm blankets on the comfy beds, but it was a bit unpleasant getting in and out of bed (especially that first night). We were out an about for most of the days.
The location is very near the Olsen House (made famous in the Andrew Wyeth painting Christina's World). In fact, we ended up kayaking to an island just below it, we just didn't realize it at the time.
The location is a bit remote, with lots of winding roads to get to the house, but it was just so serene there. If you love nature and quiet, the cottage is a really lovely retreat with furnishings that embody Danish hygge.
On those rainy days, the old school arcade games in the basement provide for some fun entertainment.
The kitchen was well equipped. The beds comfortable. The basement is a fun hang-out space, although not fully finished. I wouldn't recommend this cottage for anyone with small kids as the stairs are steep and open from the main level.
We would love to come back!

We really enjoyed our stay. The location is beautiful and peaceful. We didn’t have to drive more than 20-30min. to enjoy all sorts of activities on the coast. We also enjoyed days at the house, the property is just beautiful. The sunset and sunrise are fantastic! The property managers are wonderful and are very helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend!

It’s a wonderful property with loads of space for outdoor activities. Indoor has all been re-done and was perfect for our tween, who made the basement her space. The outdoor screened in porch is amazing, and we spent a ton of time in it. We loved this cottage!

Wonderful property and comfortable house. Offered everything we were looking for during our Summer waterfront vacation in Maine.

We had a terrific week at the Maple Juice Cove cottage. The house was immaculate and very comfortable. Its mid-century furniture was lovely. The bathroom is modern with a roomy shower that has a handheld sprayer in addition to the traditional shower head. The primary bedroom is generously sized and both bedrooms have very comfortable beds and air conditioners. The well-equipped kitchen provided everything and more that we needed. It was lovely to have the screen porch for bug-free outdoor dining and reading in a very pleasant living/dining setting.
We really enjoyed the convenience of the dock for kayaking. We brought our own, but two are supplied for your use. The comfy chairs on the upper dock provide a great place to watch the early morning fog roll out with a cup of coffee, or to have a cocktail at the end of the day. There was plenty of bird life to watch - we saw numerous Great Blue Herons and even a Bald Eagle. You can’t beat the inner cove - it’s very quiet and private.
Ryan was a very responsive host. Highly recommend this spot!

We had a wonderful time at this cottage on the cove! It has everything we needed to feel at home. We cooked most of our meals there and ate several lovely dinners on the screened-in porch. I loved drinking my coffee in the morning by the water and having a beer as the sun was setting. We biked, paddled and relaxed every day. My husband and daughter had so much fun waging Donkey Kong battles on the arcade machine and we enjoyed the speaker provided to always have great music playing. They even have current books for loan for guests! If you enjoy relaxing, kayaking easily and having your creature comforts - you will love this place.

We had a great week in Maine and we loved the property. It was a great size for our family of three and we loved walking out to the dock each day. Our daughter loved the arcade game with numerous games and the often spent mornings playing Pac-Man. The yard is great, the view is great, and the ability to hear nature and see the stars is a plus. The location is a bit remote for exploring, but the property and view is worth it. Use of the garage was a nice bonus with the rain we had early in the week. Having the necessities provided, to include towels, limited firewood, etc was also great. Ryan was an outstanding host and provided ample information leading up to and throughout our stay. We would definitely recommend this property.

Great place! Really enjoyed our stay. Property was beautiful. The walk in closet in the king room was perfect to put our pack & play for the toddler to sleep. Our 5-year-old loved fishing off the dock, roasting marshmallows over the fire, and playing arcade games. Super close to Thomaston and Rockland for dinners.

The property is very nice. We went beginning of June and it rained quite a bit thanks to a front that stalled and pinwheeled over new England. The sun came out here and there and weather improved towards the end of the week. We're native New Englander's, so completely understand you can't control the weather and need to adjust and take advantage of the sun when it presents itself.
The inside is very tastefully decorated throughout. Love the artwork. It was a pleasure to cook in the kitchen. Anything you would need to cook a meal was there and most everything is very high end. It was like cooking at home only with a much better view.
Beds are very comfortable, and shower was great. The fireplace and entertainment room were awesome as well and a welcome escape on a rainy day.
There are some great restaurants in Rockland. We were lucky enough to get a reservation at Primo and went to Archer's on the Pier several times. Both are great places and I highly recommend both.
Ryan did a great job communicating everything to us. There were no surprises. There is also a book there that explains everything you need to know, places of interest etc.
You guys have a very special place. We had a nice relaxing stay. Thank you for having us!!

I was looking for a quiet, secluded getaway as part of our babymoon this was the perfect location. The property is so quiet and tranquil making it the perfect way for us to reset and unwind. We stayed an entire month and I have absolutely no regrets.
The house is fully stocked with everything we needed and more compared to most rentals. There is so much this space offers between kayaking the inlet, enjoying a cup of coffee on the dock, the beautiful sunrises every morning, late nights of Pacman, and more. We had family stay with us twice and the house was well equipped to handle us hosting.
Ryan was truly the perfect host! You rarely meet a host that not only cares about their space to make it feel like a home, but also meet someone so inviting that they go out of their way to make sure you have the perfect stay. I'm incredibly grateful for Ryan and his kindness!
It was an unforgettable stay and we look forward to returning one day!

Property is just as pictured and described - beautiful! Highly recommend if you’re wanting to get away from the noisy/busy city life. The property manager was readily available and extremely accommodating. Restaurants/stores are a good 20 minute drive from the property. Would definitely stay again!

The cottage is beautifully remodeled, mid-century charm. beds very comfortable, rooms and space as well. woke up each morning from the master bedroom to the sun reflected off the water. kids had a ball with the arcade while we had our coffee on the wharf watching the tide go in and out. fireplace at night was great!

This home away from home was a perfect mix of rustic and luxury. Ryan was a very kind host, it made it very easy to relax and have a worry free vacation. The water views were beautiful and peaceful. It was difficult to say goodbye!

We had an incredible time on our trip to maine. The hosts were extremely helpful with any questions we had about the surround area. Very tranquil, relaxing place with a beautiful dock where we had dinner, drinks, and fun with the kids. We made a lot of memories and I’m so glad we went.

Our family absolutely loved staying at the cottage. The owners have done a great job remodeling recently. We spend quite a bit of time on the water and also exploring the surrounding area. We will definitely be back again!

Beautiful location and water views! Nice porch and screened in area for sitting outside, great fire pit (bring some wood) Great views from master bedroom. Home was obviously under renovation with a lot of construction material/debris left around. The new furniture was very uncomfortable to sit it. Beds were amazing, very comfortable and the arcade games were a hit. Location was a bit out there..20 minute car ride for anything. Cushing was a bit too isolated for us with young kids but those seeking peace and quiet, it’s a great place

What a great spot for a getaway. Felt like our own private lake- could only see two other houses. We lit a fire, played some retro video games, drove for many lobster/steamer dinners (Friendship, Rockland and Port Clyde) and relaxed while reading books (so many different spots to do this). House had all we needed plus more.
