Less than comfortable, particularly with bathroom.

Good location. Room was good size. Private.

I wasn’t clear if parking was allowed on the street. Parking in back was challenging, with many mossy steps and no handrail. Shower mildewed. Towels very thin. No soap for shower. Trash still in bathroom can upon arrival. No window covering in bathroom. Many empty k-pods in living room, but only 1 that was unused. Glasses dusty. Bed made with just a sheet. Blanket in closet was not full-sized. And, it is not a bed and breakfast if you have to drive to breakfast.

I rented this room after being fooled by all of the great reviews on this property. Never again!

I'm trying but can't seem to come up with anything.

This is basically an old house with antique furniture and no real comfort after a long day on the road. Walls appear paper thin so forget about any privacy during your stay. A bit of a strange feeling trying to enter and exit the bathroom while trying to get the stuck door to slide back and forth into the wall. Novel at least. Coffee maker, small ice machine, and small refrigerator in living room shared by all of the guests in the house. Free breakfast if you are willing to drive or walk around a half of a mile through a bit of a sketchy area. This should have been explained in the description of the listing. Limited overnight parking on street did not feel safe especially with razor wire topped jail on the adjacent corner. Was charged additional pet fee two days later that was never mentioned in any of the over dozen emails and texts detailing instructions for my stay.

Nice period cottage in very quite area but only short walk from great bars and restaurants and 5 minute drive to the Mil

A lovely little cottage within easy walking distance of the bars and restaurants in the historic area. We were contacted multiple times prior to arrival to make sure we could access the property ok. Breakfast was at the Duff Green Mansion, a 7 minute walk away. It was fine to park on the street right outside

The window started leaking when it was raining. To turn the light on and off, you had to use the pull cord. I wanted to keep the fan on, so I couldn't use the light switch.

Great location, historic cottage, tatty bathroom

Close proximity to central Vicksburg, museums, restaurants, etc. Cottage had some history but see below.

Was expecting an en-suite bathroom, didn’t get it. It was a private bathroom but across the hall. And was, at best, tatty. Not cleaned very well, damp on the wall (see photo), wallpaper peeling. Also, as described by Booking.com, was expecting e.g. a concierge and swimming pool. These facilities were not on site but at the main Duff Green house. There appears to be some economy with the truth between what Booking.com states and what exists in practice. No one to greet us so met the owner in the morning. He was there to take my credit card details to pay the bill (owing to a glitch with the booking my credit card details had been lost (not my fault and slightly worrying)). He was indifferent to the concerns we raised about the bathroom and the blind in the bedroom which did not work. Overall a disappointing stay.

Very hospitable stay in a historic home.

The staff was wonderful. Super convenient location. The breakfast was so much better than average and served so beautifully. very accommodating.

You have to give a little grace for a very old, but charming room. If you want everything to be perfect, this isn’t the place for you.

We decided to stay at the Steele Cottage due to its value. As part of our stay we had breakfast at the parent B&B, the Duff Green Mansion. Wow - this place is incredible. We were treated to breakfast and a tour. Wonderful

I was sad that I couldn’t stay longer.

The breakfast was exceptional! The quality of the food and the beautiful plating was outstanding. I was so impressed! In addition, the service was the very best part. They were so kind and welcoming. I will definitely come back.

Vicksburg Historic.

Harley was knowledgeable, gracious and flexible. It was last minute and very cold and I had a tiny dog with me. Also, I felt safe. I appreciated her getting kueerig coffee cups at the last minute. Breakfast was available at other house but my schedule didn't allow.

The mattress was a "bit" overdue for replacement but the linens were nice with extra comforter I the armoire.

Location, atmosphere, and overall coziness were very nice. Loved the breakfast and mansion tour. We slept better than we had in weeks.

Great place to spend the night and enjoy the seating areas outside of your room.

Very conveniently located. the bathroom was very clean. The furnishings were very period on point. It is also one block away from the Civil War museum so very walkable. The downtown nightlife is a short drive away. we felt everyone we met in Vicksburg was very friendly and accommodating. Our check in process was very efficient and the manager lives on site and had great dinner recommendations.

Due to the age of the property our door did not lock properly but we were able to lock the other lock. Under the night stands were dusty and should be cleaned.

It was a very enjoyable stay and so convenient to other places that we wanted to go!

My husband and I took a short weekend trip to Vicksburg on the spur of a moment. I searched for a B&B on short notice and found Steele Cottage. Steele Cottage was very nice. We enjoyed our stay in MaeMae's room. Very clean and comfortable room. We very much enjoyed having breakfast at Duff Green Mansion on Sunday morning followed by a fascinating tour of the mansion and an exceptional tour guide!! Steele Cottage was very convenient to places we were interested in going. And so quiet and peaceful!! The Caldwell's have done a wonderful job of keeping the sense of family in Steele Cottage. On our next trip to Vicksburg, we will certainly check on Steele Cottage first!
