The house was nice but we had problems getting into the property. Stairs were insufficient. Beds were comfortable, house was clean, owners were very accommodating. Close to Durango.

Great location. We spent our days exploring the area and evenings in the game room. Game room was a big hit! This rental fit all our needs with room for everyone. It was very easy to interact with our host.

Perfect location for our family to stay and enjoy summer in Durango for a few days. Nicely situated close to town and also close to James Ranch and Purgatory. Plenty of room for the 4 of us.

The Host was very responsive to all questions that we had and the property was as described it met our needs very well.

This was a good home to stay in- it was VERY clean which won us over! It is definitely quirky and had some minor inconveniences (some doors won't close and several light bulbs were out upstairs- wasn't a huge deal but we didn't have much light up there at night) but the cleanliness and the neat game room would bring us back!

This Durango worked well for our multi-generational family. It had lots of room for the kids to run and play as well as areas for the adults to hang out and de-stress. The cabin was large, easy to get to and close to everything we needed. I would recommend this property if your visiting the Durango area!

We booked this property for a volleyball tournament. I is a little bit outside of town but perfects. It is an easy drive but your stay feels like you get the best of both worlds (mountain vacation) and close enough to drive in multiple times a day if needed. We had two families and grandparent stay. It was perfect as each adult couple and grandma got our own bedroom and bathroom. The kids had their own space (bedroom and little hang out room). The game room was an extra bonus and so much fun. There is plenty of space for everyone making it an easy vacation. The host was so nice and responsive. We accidently locked ourselves out of a room and it was fixed promptly. We loved our stay and will go back.

Thank you for everything! Our stay was very pleasant. We stayed for a week and the kids had a blast skiing and playing games in the game room at the house!

Our group had 5 adults and 4 children between 8-12 years old. The house fit everyone comfortably and had all the necessities we needed for our 5 night stay. Quiet area and perfect location for our activities. Host was quick to respond to our inquiries and had great communication.

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin on our recent ski trip to Purgatory. The owners were pleasant in our communications and the location of the cabin made getting to the ski resort a piece of cake. The cabin is also close to a grocery store and other things to do in and around Durango.

The house was awesome! The perfect distance between Purgatory and town for our Christmas getaway. Arrival and departure process was super simple. Game room was awesome. Super fun!

Property was well maintained with a very unique layout. We absolutely loved the week we stayed there with family and friends. Four bedrooms and four baths was perfect with no waiting in line for facilities. Amenities were great and the large kitchen perfect for our morning breakfast. Highly recommend this home and will stay again on our next trip to Durango. Location was also great for all the activities we attended for my son’s wedding Exceptional home.

Only negative front steps are in need of reconstruction

Funky old cabin on a large lot with lawn. Clean and functional. Nice views.

Property is older and basic, but very clean, neat and comfortable. I believe the property owners care about the comfort of their guests, which was most important to our group. The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The stairs to the home were somewhat problematic to the oldest member of our group with a high step at the doorway.

Nice property, a little older, but a good place to stay. Not the best access for the mobility challenged.

If you like original & fun, this is the place to stay. We were there for a family wedding & was excited to find a place close to the venue, but we would definitely go back and stay here just for the fun of it, anytime. Unique, clean, comfortable, well stocked, and friendly, accessible hosts. Kids had a great time with the spiral staircase, big yard to play in and the game room. Adults enjoyed the scenery and the relaxing setting.

We had a great stay. Very cool old lodge with loads of rustic charm and plenty of comforts. Lots of room to get comfy or cozy. Nice property with lawns, flowers and trees. Easy in and out with plenty of parking. Close enough to town to make it an easy trip, but out of town enough to avoid the hustle and it puts you that much closer to the mountains. And you get a great view/sounds of the steam train twice a day! Great hosts who communicate very well. We will definately return.

Our family loved staying at this property! It was clean and welcoming and perfect for our reunion. We thoroughly enjoyed many features of the property…..lawn games, washer/dryer, outdoor furniture for star gazing and chatting, and efficient kitchen. The host was prompt and helpful with responses to our questions. We hope to stay here again when we are in the area.

The Clarks were very responsive to any questions that we had prior to our stay and the property was very clean on our arrival. The property was perfect for our extended family stay. We appreciated the large spaces for our family to get together -- a large table that accommodated us comfortably, plenty of space for visiting, three ensuite bedrooms plus a fourth full bath, and a large game room and a basketball and hoop that we fully utilized. We will definate stay there again if we need a place near Durango. A good time was had by all!! Thanks!!

Fantastic place for a group of active adults. Stayed here for a hiking/biking weekend, the location is perfect. We also really enjoyed the game room and outdoor space. It’s so nice to have a place big enough everyone can have their own room, and great communal space too. The host is very responsive to any questions I had during my stay.

We had a group of 6 70-80 yr. olds who were able to manage outside steps and spiral staircase. There was plenty of space and we had fun playing in the game room above the garage. The kitchen was well stocked and the property owners always responded quickly to our questions. The only draw back was that the upstairs bathrooms were tubs and not showers, and one of the bedrooms on the main level had to use the full bath at the opposite end of the house. Everything was spotless.
The location was excellent for going to the Durango Hot Springs, Durango, and Silverton. The view from the house was very scenic, with the added bonus of watching the Durango/Silverton Train pass by in the am and the late afternoon. This valley would be beautiful in the fall at the peak of the Aspen tree colors.

This was a really fun, unique property (with a great backstory!), perfectly situated between Durango and Purgatory. Great proximity to the hot springs which are some of the best we've found. The beds were comfortable (and I'm picky) and everything else was clean and cozy. The game room was a nice bonus.
The place does have a rustic feel to it, so if that's not your thing then you'll want to look elsewhere. We were very pleased!

Perfect location for viewing hot air balloon rally. Easy access to Durango and to Purgatory. Property would be ideal for group getaway. Spacious lawn perfect for our dog or yard games, indoor game room with ping pong, etc. Owner is working on a few minor maintenance things but nothing that interfered with use of the property. Stairway to home from driveway might make it not ideal for renters with mobility limitations.

We were VERY disappointed with the overall condition of the property. Exterior was covered in cobwebs and dust.
7 of 16 windows had no screens in a structure with no A/C. We did not open windows without screens to keep out mosquitoes etc. All the windows and screens were covered in dust and cobwebs. The screens that were there were bent and/or torn, several improperly installed, rendering them useless. We spent a couple hours cleaning window openings and tracts and reinstalling screens to make them somewhat functional. A necessity when there is no A/C.
The second floor was essentially unusable and unsafe. Only 3 of the 6 windows had screens. Leaving the other windows open just invited the bugs. Only 3 openings made cooling impossible. Also, it is finished in old wood paneling with knee wall construction leaving many large hidden spaces (built to burn and hard to extinguish - I'm a retired battalion chief from Spokane) and had NO smoke detectors. It is basically an unsafe sauna.
There were several other maintenance items like cabinet doors that don't shut, towel racks coming off the wall etc. The property was just generally unkept and in bad need of some basic care/repair. And all this next door to a junk yard full of old boats, travel trailers, machinery etc.
The place might work for a bunch of partiers during ski season who just want a party house and place to flop. We would not have stayed except that the size of our group made finding some other lastminute accommodations out of the question.

Enjoyed watching the train every morning and location was great for us being surrounded with atv trails

Great location. Love the history of the property. The kitchen was stocked well. I would recommend advising guests of the amount of stairs requured to get in and around this property. My parents decided not to join us at the last minute and I was grateful after learning of all the stairs. The house met all of our needs. The game room hosted family game night every night we were there. Loved that space! We had a really great vacation and would definitely stay here again!
