The first floor features an open living/dining/kitchen area, boasting a dining table comfortably seating eight, and a kitchen bar with three stools. The kitchen colors of gold and turquoise beautifully accentuate the new kitchen floor and appliances, inspiring culinary delights and enjoyable gatherings. We enjoyed our family vacation at southern Tides. The home retains much of the original charm and the marine themed decor is perfect. The bunk room for the kids was a hit! The upper level porch with shower was an adorable surprise. The shaded backyard with pool provides a great place to cool down after a long day at the beach. This place was perfect for our family and we plan to return!

We've stayed at this location four times over the past several years. The property is in desperate need of maintenance and updating. It's not ventage pipes, it's poor construction. The first-floor bedroom, which was the old porch, is rotting out. The vintage windows are single glass, and the frame is rotten. It is a really nice location for what we like to do but we won't be coming back.The management is and has been very responsive. You get a 5.

Plenty of room and bathrooms for everyone. Clean, cozy and interesting house. Suggestions: Only a couple wash cloths and hand towels. Only 1 dish cloth and towell.
Trees at pool need trimmed - sun only near shallow end and leaves accumulated in pool even if we cleaned it daily. The step replacement carpenter was on the property 3 days. Thank you for reimbursing 10 percent for less privacy and not using front steps. We would stay in this house again- so close to the beach and restaurants. Drew the caretaker was very helpful too.

Stayed with my son's family and 3 grandkids and my sister and her grandson. The kids loved the bunk bedrooms and enjoyed the pool. Great place for a large group including kids. Had all the meals at the house with a well-supplied kitchen and seating areas for meals.

Overall a positive experience. Did have some worries about lead paint exposure for my 2 yr old grandson simply due to the age of the house. Lots of pool fun and beach fun! Very short walk to the inlet and beach. Cute decor and well stocked kitchen.

Such a great house. The house is more modern than the online pictures make it look. I was so pleasantly surprised. They had beach chairs for the beach and it’s walkable, lots of good kitchen stuff, very comfortable beds and even provide travel size shampoo and conditioners!
The pool is very shaded and pretty buggy. That was a bummer but otherwise it was good. Good temp lots of places to sit/lay.

This house was amazing overall. Absolutely love all the great interior design touches, and even though this historical house is a tad quirky, the layout actually worked very well for us. Being from Wisconsin, we enjoyed showering outside for the Master Bathroom Shower!
Our only disappointment was the pool and back yard area. While we understand trying to keep.it "tropical" and lush, there was just too much foliage and overhead trees that blocked any sunshine. We were there in the last week in August, which were upper 80 degree days, but the shaded backyard was just cool and humid. The pool felt like it was in the mid-upper70s, so none of us adults went in. Only the purple lipped kids as we all tried to "lounge" in the shade. The dark, shaded area was also a bug attraction, so we brought down fly swatters to try and enjoy our "pool time". Wish they would keep all the palm trees, but get rid of get rest of the big canopy like trees, so we could have enjoyed the sunshine at the pool
Lastly, nothing on the house, but Tybee was a bit of a disappointment. Pretty dingy, and not very family friendly.
Overall we loved the house! Maybe we would come back for am adult.only, off season winter trip

Five gal friends from across the United Staes finished a 5 day lecture/tour in Savannah with a three day stay at Southern Tides on Tybee Island. The newly renovated house was cheery and bright and even though we experienced some rainy days it was always cheery at Southern Tides. You will not go wrong working with Mr. Jim Heflin of Tybee Cottages...he was super helpful. Jane Coslick did a fabulous job renovating the house. Our memories are extremely bright of the house. Close to the pier and walking distance to the town and restaurants. Put this place on YOUR bucket list. Oh did I mention the swimming pool and the four balconies!!!! ...and the amazing kitchen!!!???

We loved our stay! The house has a great layout for large groups, with plenty of sitting areas for relaxing and chatting. Everything is well thought out. This was our 3rd rental home on Tybee and by far the best. Even the kitchen supplies were plentiful and clean. We were surprised how well stocked the kitchen was with pans, place settings, and tools. It was a joy to cook breakfast in the adorable kitchen with the doors to screen porch open and big band jazz playing on our Bluetooth speaker. Highly recommend! ☺️ The architecture of the home is charming and the decor is fun yet peaceful. The location is ideal. We love the north end and were a tiny bit hesitant about this home’s location. We came to love it, and might even prefer it now! Such an easy walk to the back river, ocean, and downtown. The coffee at Beachview B&B just a quick walk away is great! We could also walk to Seaweeds for ice cream, Wet Willie’s for drinks, and AJ’s for dinner. The south end was much fun at low tide with lots of tidal pools. We did hear some late-night music coming from downtown on weekend nights, but it was somewhat faint. Everything else about the location was ideal- close to town yet overall a quiet area. The backyard is also a great hangout! We had a wonderful vacation at Southern Tides!

First, I want to thank Jim Heflin for helping us before, during and after our stay. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Perfect for a large family, like ours. Beautifully decorated! Only about a 3-5 to the beach. And who needs to go on a dolphin tour when you can walk to the ocean and practically swim with them! They were so close that it was crazy!! We were fascinated by how close they were to the shore. Not one problem while we were there and the pool just topped everything off. Hope other renters enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you!

This was our second time staying at Southern Tides, and it was as charming as we remembered. The layout of the house and the way the rooms are decorated makes it great for large groups - there are ample places to gather together, or to steal away and have some time to yourself. The kids loved the bunk room and the pool! We can't wait for next year. Also, in these challenging times, Jim was so kind to accommodate changes we needed to make to our reservation, and to talk me through the options. The customer service gets an A-Plus!

Southern Tides was a wonderful beach home to our family of 16 for a week. After a long drive from Indiana everyone explored the beautifully decorated home and then hit the pool. We swam morning and night in the pool and went to the beaches daily which were only 2 blocks away. Tybee Bean was our favorite coffee shop on the island. The group also toured Ft. Pulaski and visited Savannah for a day of sightseeing and eating.Southern Tides was the perfect place for our big family!

Our overall stay at Southern Tides was awesome! The cottage offered a variety of sleeping quarters, and everyone loved the décor. I was amazed as to the number of cute spaces tucked away. Southern Tide is located within walking distance of the river, ocean, and businesses. In the morning about all the traffic was by foot, walking dogs, and a bicycle or two.The cottage was well-stocked, clean, and a sheer pleasure. What a privilege to stay at Southern Tides for another winter! This home is beautifully decorated with all the amenities you would want for a great Tybee vacation! The neighborhood is perfect: only a brief walk across the street to the quiet back river beach, from which you can walk for miles on Tybee’s beautiful shoreline. I especially love the walkable neighborhood with some of the island’s oldest homes (and this is one of them). A short walk to Tybrisia’s shops and nightlife, if you want to check out that scene. I prefer the tranquility of this the southernmost end of the island. Tybee Cottages’ management team is the best! They respond immediately if you encounter any problems. Thank you for yet another great stay!

Jim and his staff at Tybee Cottages are incredibly professional and very proficient. The cottage was fantastic, and made the week very enjoyable. Amenities were as advertised, location was superb (two beaches within easy walking distance), plenty of room for everyone, and all were extremely satisfied with the stay. Our only issue came early in the week when one of the A/C units decided to stop working (on a 99 degree day!) ... but after a call to the management company, a technician arrived within an hour and fixed the unit (on a major holiday to boot!!).All in all an excellent experience.

We had a blast at this house and the main reason was the layout of the house! The only thing that prevented it from being a truly spectacular vacation was the fleas in the house. They were contained to the main floor but everyone's ankles were bitten horribly and the toddler was covered from head to toe with bites.

At the suggestion of Jim Heflin, owner of Tybee Cottages, we booked "Southern Tides" for our family of 12: 6 grandchildren this summer (2015). It was a perfect beach house-- full of Southern beach charm, comforts of home, proximity to the beach, river, dining & "town." The pool was great fun, especially for late afternoon & evening swims. The "bunk" room & sleep porch became the favored sleep accomodations for the children. The other bedrooms were comfortable for the adults. The only disappointment to the children and grandchildren alike was that we were "renting" and not "buying" this property!
