We enjoyed our stay but there wasn’t enough towels in the bathroom.

The hotel is stunning, the Poole was great, beds comfy…. Downside family room are situated along a corridor used by Christmas party goers, with a Christmas party being held in the Bunkers Bar nearby. We got back to the hotel around 11.20 after a fabulous evening at Thursford Christmas Spectacular we were all asleep & my children husband and I were awoken at a quarter past midnight by drunken party goers in a room near by, you could hear every word, it went on for around 30 minutes with a woman cackling like a witch. I phoned reception to complain, a very young man said he would send security to check. I complained to reception in the morning and the receptionist said that if we don’t want to be woken we should stay Monday-Thursday…. Not quite what I was expecting from a beautiful 4 star hotel.

Although stay was pleasant. The breakfast was average at best. And 3 cleaning staff talking loudly outside my room about bf insta and other inane comments. When the DO NOT DISTURB was clearly displayed. Come on go chat somewhere else. Very annoying. Bar drinks are well overpriced

Just a short stay, absolutely love the Old English Heritage in the statement of a building, this was well accompanied by the friendly staff and made the stay good. I will give a great thanks to Nova who served us in the Garden terrace bar. We had a good laugh.

The standard of cleaning was average in my opinion, particular attention needs to be made in areas that get a lot of damp e.g. shower seals, toilet seats, etc.
Bed was quite firm, personally I prefer them a little softer. I'm not sure exactly why but we both woke up each morning with incredibly dry throats, I'd usually assume it was air-con but the room had radiators.
The bathroom was more modern than the rest of the room, water pressure was good, noticeable rust/oxidations on fittings e.g. toilet seat though.
The main room is a little dated looking, carpet has that old pattern that hides stains and the furniture while fitting with the building has clearly seen a lot of use.
I also asked the hotel via the hotels.com app if they happened to have any conditioner as my wife forgot hers, and also about the pool and if we could use it, I did not however receive a response for the entire stay, I don't consider this good customer service at all.
Nice chap when we arrived Tuesday afternoon, very helpful and gave good directions to our room.
Overall I would not give this hotel 4*, maybe 3*+ at a push, but I just didn't think the quality of room reflected 4* value.

If you stay at Dunston hall they will leave you complimentary dirty underpants, socks and dried contact lenses on the bedside table!
you will also receive hair in your breakfast!
Compensation - £50 Voucher to come back!!
They have refused to refund me fully and after a long drawn out emailing battle they have agreed to refund £50 to my bank -
I’m still waiting for this to be refunded.

Room very draughty due to breeze coming through patio doors, had to keep air con (noisy) on all night to keep warm.
Unfortunately food not great this time - last visit food was much better and worth coming back for.
All staff very professional being friendly and happy to look after everyone and listen to any complaint

Staff were so helpful and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble and they really tried to make things as easy as possible. Being at the older end we didn't enjoy the Halloween disco in the bar but it was possible to find a quieter space and they went out of their way to accommodate us. Drinks were quite expensive but the food was reasonably priced. The breakfast choice and quality was outstanding.
1.5
Disappointed with room bed was hard, room was tired. Plug not attached to sink. Tv very dated couldn’t watch much. Expensive for what the room offered
1.5
The hotel is old and tired. Check in very slow - staff clearly overwhelmed and unhappy. Breakfast was a shambles with nowhere enough food for the number of people present. A shame really because we paid good money for the hotel!

Overall good stay :) we checked in at 3:40pm after a long day at the dinosaur park and unfortunately our room was ready which was really disappointing when you’re travelling with 2 children under 3 years. They did however, give us some drinks vouchers to use in the bar whilst we waited, but sitting around waiting is never easy with little ones! Once we were in the room everything was good and the room was spacious for a family of 4. Breakfast was from 7am which was great for us, and there was a great selection. Only thing we all struggled with was how hot upstairs was! We were on the third floor and the heat was just unbearable as soon as you got on to the top floor. Apart from the late check in and the heating, we enjoyed our stay.

Checking was slow breakfast was not very good

we had a family party, and there was a few things which I was not very happy about, the family booked a table for an evening meal months a ago, and we found out that the hotel messed up the booking so all the family could not sit together!!! i I had brought drinks and was over charged and this happened many times with my family group which is terrible service at the main bar, then my wife phoned up regarding there allergies which the hotel swore blind they could cater for her, they could not cater for her at all, so I had to drive out of Dunston hall to go and get food so again could not eat with the family, the staff expected my wife to eat bland food because they could definitely not cater for people with allergies, the staff came over with a folder that was so big to look at the allergies list with my wife!!! we are in the year 2000 surly they could update this list on to a tablet !!! in the room, the sheets were do old and when you moved I woke up my wife and vice averse! this place could be so much better, the only thing i can say is the golf centre personnel were excellent and they are the only thing keeping this place going, the staff at the golf centre were so helpful. I don't think the family of 15 will be having our gathering again at Dunston hall, in fact we should be re-inbust some money back for our stay and for all the family who had issues throughout the 2 days of our stay and for the one day I stayed, thank god I only stayed 1 day, never agin!!!

Great Service all round 10/10

I had paid for breakfast and went downstairs at 7am only to be greeted by 51 guests from a coach.
The staff in the restaurant said that they would need to find me a table in the corner somewhere because they “weren’t aware of 51 guests that had suddenly turned up for breakfast”.
Even checking out in the morning wasn’t great. I stood at the counter where 3 members of staff ignored my presence for a few minutes.
Customer service poor.
I didn’t stay for breakfast as it was chaotic.

Beautiful hotel. Superb food!

We decided not to stay after booking in because we were offered a room without a walk-in shower. We wrongly assumed that a 4 star hotel would have
this basic facility . My wife is unable to use a normal bath . Therefore we did not stay at the hotel.
We have now been charged the full amount and request that you reimburse us .
Your reply is awaited.

Our third time here and could not fault.
Service was friendly, especially in the resturant. They really did pay attention to detail. Relaxed environment.
Swimming pool is good and breskfast fantastic, lots to choose from with plenty of space to sit.

Promised much . Delivered little. Fantastic looking property. Hotel restaurant more like a canteen. Service on the Saturday sadly lacking, over a hours wait for our main course. Food mediocre. The burger was better than the fillet steak!
1.5
The stay was somewhat disappointing overall. The staff were not particularly helpful, and it was unprofessional to overhear conversations about their intoxication the previous night. The quality of the food left much to be desired, and the overall ambiance of the establishment felt rather dated. Overall, it did not meet expectations.

Beautiful Venue, was upgraded to a deluxe room with 2 king size beds ( 1 each), so comfortable. Had dinner in the evening which was lovely, served by a very accommodating lad called Ben. Laura on reception was very helpful too. The bar area was Special. The grounds are great to walk around. Very happy with our over night stay.
Went in the Spa for a swim and steam room, was exceptionally clean. All good

Lovely property and setting.. areas of the hotel are dated (rooms, spa, pool).
Food was prices seem reasonable but food quality and portions did not match pricing.
2.0
The room was too hot, pool was dirty, no showers for after you go in the sauna and steam room so people were just going straight in the pool. There were numerous tour buses and with the type of clientele they brought the price of the hotel should be brought down swearing/shouting (rough as toast) . The grounds were nice but overpriced for what it is.

Stayed in a signature four poster room. It was very tired and in need of some updating. Pretty average hotel, shame that you can’t order room service.

Staff approachable and friendly, we will be returning.

Too much to write but there were big problems woth
Lack of hot water
Very long waits in both dinig areas for food to be served.
No accountability when staff make an assurance on service and dont provide it.
No fridge in the rooms.
No air con.
Did not accomodate very elderly guests request to stay near the front of the hotel instead had to walk a long way to get to their rooms.
Had no response from the hotel after making complaints.

Terrible. Would not stay again. Rooms were dirty and dusty. Cobwebs and bugs in the room. Definitely not worth the price paid. Portable fan given for the room has years of accumulated dust. Beautiful property but rooms are completely awful.

Dunston Hall Hotel exceeded our expectations and is a beautiful location. The leisure and golf facilities are amazing and our stay was beyond blissful. Would definitely come again - only thing that let us down was that we should have stayed longer than 1 night!
1.0
The service was very much below standard. The food took a long time to come out and 4 of us ordered at the same time with 2 meals arriving half an hour before the others. No explanation was given until afterwards. Dinner was not any better, it took an hour after ordering for the food to arrive.

Lovely attentive staff & beautiful location. Room was comfy & clean also. Would stay again!

Great nights stay

Dunston Hall Hotel is a beautiful hotel, full of character and charm and the staff were welcoming, but our experience was marred by the condition of our room. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the room had not been properly cleaned. There was visible dust on and behind the furniture, crumbs on the carpet, and even stained skirting boards from spilt beverages. The bathroom was particularly appalling, with mouldy grout between tiles—a clear indication of neglect.
In addition, the room lacked air conditioning and the fan provided was filthy and covered in dust, making it unusable. It’s unacceptable that we had to request the room be cleaned and the fan replaced, tasks that should have been handled long before our arrival. This level of carelessness is not what we expected from a hotel of Dunston Hall's caliber. The manager was apologetic and attended to our request, however our stay was impacted by these issues. The health centre facilities were nice we enjoyed the facilities.

Generally pleasant stay. excellent environment

We were a little disappointed, the hotel was amazing and the facilities great , but our stay was not an enjoyable one.
Firstly our room the air con did not work, the receptionist did get us some fans which helped a little , secondly on the morning of Saturday we had no water and with it being so hot was not ideal when off to a football tournament.
1.5
Definitely not recommended for a business stay. Only one plug socket in the room, clean but very tired and out dated room
