Great value, Friendly staff, very clean. Not in the center of the city but great location.

Room was great, no a/c but we traveled in the fall so it was fine. No elevator so if you have issues with stairs request a main level room. The location was great, good food choices close by and a wonderful bakery around the corner. Very close to tram and bus stops but we found Uber work best for us. Very reasonable prices to old town and new town.

Very nice hotel. Beds could be upgraded and it would be nice if somewhere in the description they asked about special needs (age). Getting to the top floor with my mom and her luggage was a challenge. In the future I will request a lower floor. Other than that it was very good.

The room was a nice size and comfortable. It was clean except for the window which was covered in mold. It was in a basement area, but had a nice view out the back of the room. Would stay there again, but would want a room on an upper floor.

Beautiful historic building, very charming Did require one set of stairs. Large, modern bath with walk in shower. On a quiet street. 20 minute wslk to National Gallery. Lots of restaurants nearby, Excellent staff.

The hotel is in a convenient location to tram and train. The property is VERY OLD, made up of multiple old “row” houses on the block. Cracked paint, cracks in the doors, showers that are slippery to the point I was actually afraid I was going to fall every time I stepped in, and the water pressure was abysmal. The beds old, you can feel the springs as you lay down, they are not comfortable.
The staff was lovely, and very helpful.
If you’re looking for a place you drop your stuff and sight see and don’t care about the room. This is the place for you.

Decent place to stay. Staff very helpful. Breakfast good. No lifts so had to carry own luggage up multiple flights of stairs to room.

The room we stayed in was probably the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. I had to rearrange the furniture in order to walk around the bed without bumping into it. The shower stall was barely big enough to turn around in. There was just one towel rack in the bathroom. We were given one small bar of soap and we weren't able to get another one when it ran out.

Overpriced and we were given a room in the basement. No long term parking except 3 blocks away, 10 minutes walk. The staff was nice and breakfast good.

Convenient location a few minutes walk from bus and tram station.
Room equipment very basic, bathroom ok. Basement room without even street view. Way overpriced relative to quality.

The room (11) was overpriced ( 247 PoundS..300 EUR/ night) shocking!!! A dump in the basement with a strong moldy smell. Cracked window, but no real way to leave it open during the night since passing pedestrians could just climb into the room. Overall the hotel needs a cleaning urgently! We booked the room because we where charmed by the pictures.. but realized that it does not represent reality at all. Incredibly bad experience."

Historic building in center of Edinburgh. Management was friendly and great.

While some of the pictures depicted a balcony, it was a faux balcony. We had a very large window to open. We were actually nervous leaving it open for fear of a seagull coming in. Pictures seemed somewhat nicer looking room and I may have overlooked information about no air conditioning and no elevator, we ended up on 3rd or 4th floor which maybe we could have asked for a different floor, the room was fairly clean, the shower is really small, difficult to get in and water really difficult to control. But it did work. The staff is 11/10 so kind and they even brought up a new fan for us since Edinburgh was having a heat wave. Location is a 11/10. Just a walk to busses, tram. So many coffee, bakery, food shops up the street. Breakfast is 11/10 . Lots to choose from plus something made to order.

Buildings are quite old this rooms are a bit aged, but clean and comfortable. Location good, tram and buses 5 min or less walk. Staff excellent very helpful and friendly and away from all the chaos of down town noise and such. If you want a good value for your money would highly recommend this location.

Employees are fabulous! Great Location to train and tram. No a/c and second floor is actually third floor. Carrying bags up that many stairs is no fun. It was very clean but small. Stuffy for sleeping.

Close to Haymarket tram stop. Easy to walk to shopping area. Lots of transportation to airport close to hotel

Great location, nice and quiet, but close to the hustle and bustle. Stayed in a single room. Was clean and comfy. Would visit again.

For the price, we unfortunately wouldn't stay here again, nor recommend. The property is a long way away from Old town Edinburgh, and there is no parking, you have to park a few streets away and have to pay to park, then walk back to the hotel. The room was poorly renovated and the bed had an extremely hard matress. I can see that they were going for an 'Antique' vibe with the rooms furnishings, however our bed was creaky and just tired. The room had a refrigerator, however was off when we arrived, so we couldn't use it. It took 48 hours to get cold, and still, then, wasnt actually cold. There was also no air-conditioning, and there was dust everywhere. Sorry for the honest review. We weren't impresed.

The Haymarket is a quaint hotel just outside of the city center. It’s in a historic series of townhouses with interesting room decor. The breakfast can’t be faulted for a Scottish full breakfast and you can have as much as you would like if you only have the continental breakfast. We had to leave early to catch a flight and they gave us the biggest breakfast I ever seen.
The rooms are showing their age a little bit and need. To be retouched. Our ceiling had stains from a leak, and there is no fan or air conditioning in the room so if it’s hot outside, your room will be quite hot
The staff are excellent and very friendly but having VIP status didn’t give us any extra benefits the advertised free drink per person per day was available but it seems that everyone in the hotel was getting that benefit regardless of being a VIP Goldmember. It’s a little longer walk to downtown Edinburgh than I thought, but we enjoyed the walk and the shops and the scenery.
We would certainly return to this hotel for another visit

The haymarket was a wonderful hotel. It was an excellent value for the money.

A very basic hotel that really needs significant investment. Rooms are tiny, beds are uncomfortable and bedding looks very old. I actually slept on top of the covers as they looked so bad.
As you can see from the photos, in desperate need of refurbishment.
On a positive note, the staff at reception were great, welcoming and super friendly.

All the staff we interacted with were amazing very friendly and helpful with any and all questions we had. The room we had was amazing as well!

The room was smaller than I expected and needed some maintenance ( ripped upholstery, damaged wood trim and water spots on the ceiling). The stairs are quite steep so be prepared!

The Haymarket Hotel looks like it is stuck in the 90s and the staff don’t care about the condition of the property or the guests. Their attitude is appalling.
The situation of the hotel was good, the bath towels were good, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast filling.
The attitude of the staff was shocking, the hand towels frayed and, as a disabled person I was given a room up 3 flights of stairs - no lift!
The paintwork was scuffed, the carpets need replacing and the staff need to go to charm school.
It wasn’t the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, but I wouldn’t recommend it nor will I be back.

It was an amazing stay.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful as I arrived late in evening due to a delayed flight. They were very professional and kind!
Here are some concerns I have with the basement room. The room I stayed in was near outside stairs that brought you up to the sidewalk. Thankfully the gate had a chain on it but it still felt a bit unsafe with no lock on the window and the curtain covering the window isn’t the best as someone would be able to peak in from the outside. (I checked myself from standing outside on the sidewalk.) The door to enter the room had one lock that definitely is not strong enough to withstand force entry.
Lastly the room I was given was located in the basement which unfortunately hears so much noise in all directions, (street noise from passerbyers and cars driving in the cobblestone, noise from people across the hall, and travelers and staff walking around the entrance area). I personally think the hotel would benefit from some updates to door security, soundproofing, and privacy.
This is not a terrible place to stay at but for what I paid for two nights, I did expect something better, but I’m not one to complain as I had a decent stay. If you are a female solo traveler it may be best to find a location with better privacy and security.

Perfect spot to explore Edinburgh, with the tram and bus stations within a 5 minute walk. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was good - nice hot shower. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Reasonable selection of restaurants within walking distance. Tesco express 5 minutes down the road.Would definitely stay again.

Great location extremely close to bus stops and the tram. Very walkable and lots of pubs nearby to try. It’s tucked in a neighborhood which makes it feel very safe and at home.
