Very basic and dated, which is fine. The issues were strong-smelling detergent on all the linens, thumping music I could still hear at 4 am, a shower that only worked with cold water, and thermostat that made the room either freezing or warm and stuffy.
Keys (manual, not card) must be left with the front desk each time you leave the hotel. All the common area lights (hallways, lobby restrooms) are motion-activated with aggressively short timers, necessitating quite a bit of extra hand-waving.
On the plus side, great location and front desk staff were pleasant. Overall would not recommend.

Honestly, I do not think this hotel/hostel was worth the amount of money. It is difficult to search for a hotel when you are not familiar with the city. After having spent days in Madrid I could have chosen better. We were not happy with our corner room (everything at an angle) and when asked to switch I felt we were tagged as difficult and relegated to a room that was down a dark lonely hallway with a window opening up to a shaft. The bathroom had mildew on the walls. The breakfast area is a windowless room and there is no attached bar/restaurant. Overall, the location was not bad and the staff was very friendly but personally, I would not stay here again.

Overall satisfied , they bed was small for 2 people , most places advertise a double bed as two twins or a queen this was an actual double bed , not at all comfortable for a man who is 6ft 5 !

The good service, near dining options, walkable to city center, stores and attractions. It is safe for a single person stay.

“This hotel has a great location and friendly staff. However, I had to switch from the first room I was given because it smelled bad and had spider webs. The room felt old and didn’t match the photos on the website. The second room was much better and cleaner, but the air conditioner had a timer and kept turning off. Overall, it was an average stay.”

The staff are very friendly. The property is walking distance near the main sites in Madrid. We were able to walk 7 minutes to Plaza cibeles. The area its at is the chueca but felt very safe and not noisy at all. Overall good experience with this hostal.

It was my second time in this hostal. Nice stay and its location is very good. Clean room and friendly staff. Beds are for short people and pillows are not good

Really well located, specially for lgbt
We got a smaller room than the one we booked and we had to ask to move to the right one and they moved us on the third day.
Also, they set the ac on 22 and told us they could not put lower than that so it was not comfortable enough to sleep
Also the bed was really hard

Close to the main road restaurants and shopping. Strange that you leave the key at the front desk when you leave.

The location is very convenient for walking, eating and shopping. The staff is very friendly and helps you with whatever you need. It would be very nice to have a minibar in the room. I will be back.

Overall a decent budget hotel. Cleanliness could be improved in terms of bedding. The rooms can be very cramped. However the plus side is that the location is very convenient as it is in downtown Madrid. The staff is also very friendly and helpfull and speak good English.

Helpful staff. Fun area.

Bed was hard, and no ac in may. Other than that all good.

Nicely located. The place is old and hasn't been kept up. The room is as small as they come. The bathroom is miniscule. I'm a small person and still had problems moving arould in that space. This is not the first time I've stayed at a 3* hotel . I would say this is by far the least attractive and comfortable I've experienced.

Very helpful staff and a lovely little hotel

The people at the reception were not so welcoming, the hostal is expensive for what they offer, but the location is key to move around Madrid, the elevator holds 3 people only and takes forever, so if you are in the 4th floor be patient

Ideal for one night city stop. Close to Metro and within easy walking distance of nearby food outlets and attractions.
Helpful and friendly reception staff.
Rather small bed for a double, but is that the norm in Spain?

It was so near city centre

Perfectly fine hotel for a short break. Small rooms but clean, safe is available. Bathroom well appointed for price. Location is good, Gran via is is a minutes walk away, and other attractions are walkable should you so desire. The downside is that the local area is lively at all times including early in the morning.

Great location, a bit old fashioned....

The hotel was in a great area for walking to the museums. It was not great in that it is very loud at night. A lot of late night parties on the street on the weekend.
The hotel staff were very helpful. We felt safe walking everywhere and using public transport. The bed needs to be replaced

The location was really good. It was convenient to walk to all famous tourist attractions, and it was also great to go shopping. Considering the location, I think it's great value for money.
However, the condition of the room was somewhat disappointing. I reserved a double bed, but was given a room with three single beds. I requested a change, but was told there were no rooms available. Also, there is no refrigerator or microwave, so it is difficult to eat a simple meal. And every time I went out, I had to leave my keys at reception. It was convenient that the reception was open 24 hours a day, but it was inconvenient to have to stop by the reception every time I went out.

THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN AND THE LOCATION ITS A MUST NEAR GRAN VIA AND THE IN THE GEART OF CHUECA TOWN. THE ROOM KEY YOU HAVE TO LEFT IT IN THE COUNTER EVERY TIME YOU GOU OUT AND BACK WAS A LITTLE WEIRD. THE ROOM I BOOKED WAS NOT THE SAME AS SHOWN IN THE APP.
