Very nice
Great area

The hotel and staff were excellent. I would stay here again. The hotel is located within the old town area and is mostly pedestrian. There is some parking at 17 Euro per night but it is limited and tight. The standard room is a bit small but who comes to Salzburg to sit in a hotel room. There are many excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. A warning about the area is to keep a watchful eye out for cyclists - it seems they have the right of way over pedestrians!

So cool that this 19th century hotel is still a beacon in Salzburg, right in the heart of old town at the bottom of the castle. So cozy & modern with old soul vibe
2.0 / 5.0
Getting to the property is hard because the old town is closed off to most cars after 11am. You need a code to get into the area, so you have to call them for the code and then get in. Once we were there it was nice enough. Front desk gentleman was curt, our bathroom did not look like it was cleaned very well. The bed was comfy and there was a fan and we could bring in the cool air from the window before bed. The room was nice and the breakfast was good. The location was excellent!

Good location but NO AC.

Reception was very helpful in explaining things and making reservations for us. Parking wasn't that convenient - though I gather it's not convenient anywhere in the Old Town - mainly they provided a slight discount on the parking we'd have had to rely on anyway. Due to heatwave fan was fine, but AC would have been preferred, though that is rare to find in many cities of Europe. Rooms also lacked mini-fridges. Shower was a little tricky to operate and could have used a door.

Very nice city center property with lots of history. Dated but it’s part of the charm. No AC. Nice breakfast. Excellent location

the rooms are incredibly hot in simmer months without AC. They provide fans, but they just move the hot air around.

The location of the hotel is great for the Music Festival event that is just 10 minutes away walking. The room was very small and terribly hot with no air conditioning and just a couple of cooling fans. Breakfast was ok and a reasonable Italian restaurant has a direct access from the hotel.

Hotel room was great! So was hotel breakfast! So kind hotel personnel was! Highly recommended!

We reserved two large suites for a multi generation family time. The rooms were great, breakfast was fine. We were disappointed that the AC was not adequate. We were promised a new AC unit, which never materialized. Staff should not promise what they will not deliver. The location is superb.

Historic hotel in old Salzburg. You need to go eat a code from the hotel to drive into and out of the gated old town, which was tricky as the code changes hourly. Rooms were nice, and staff was helpful. Great breakfast.

Our family vacation at the Altstadthotel Kasererbräu was nothing short of delightful. Nestled in the heart of Salzburg, the hotel's location proved incredibly convenient, allowing us easy access to local attractions and transit. The historical charm of the hotel was matched by its cleanliness and the courteous service provided by the friendly staff. Staying in the room once graced by the iconic Romy Schneider added a touch of glamour to our stay. It was a memorable experience that combined luxury with the comfort of feeling at home. The hotel's commitment to maintaining a pristine environment and their attentive service truly made our family vacation special.

Don't expect to get what you pay for. We had reserved two of the same rooms about 3 months out. We got there they said nothing at check-in but when we got to the room we did not get two of the same. We went back down and were told "Sorry, we have no other rooms". Which was simply not true as they had many keys still behind them (yes, they use old school keys).
The front desk lady (who was nice) said she would leave a note for the manager and perhaps he would offer a discount. Well, that did not happen, instead I was offered two small boxes of chocolates with 4 pieces in each, no thanks.
The hotel did not have A/C, one room had a fan, the other did not and we had to request one. One room had a hair dryer, the other did not. Very inconsistent and I see that now in other reviews that have been posted since we originally booked. As someone else said in their post, find a different hotel such as the Radisson Blu if you want to enjoy your visit and get a good nights sleep.

15/10 would stay here again! The kids loved it, it was great with the dogs, easy 5 minute walk to take the shuttle track up to see the fortress. You can walk everywhere and see everything. Excellent views from our room!

Great position in the Old Town! You can walk everywhere! But note it is an old building, not modern. Comfortable room with bathroom. Shower over bath. No fridge in room, but that is a European thing..

I really wanted to like this place. The toilet was dirty under the rim. The shower floor on one end was slippery- upon inspection, it was discolored and it was dirty. We were so jet lagged and tired we decided to not say anything. The second day we didn’t have it cleaned because we had to sleep in. The third day we did leave the room to have it cleaned, and returned to only a made bed. The floors were never vacuumed and there was hair all over the floor. The towels were changed and after showering, I used a towel and found out it had a disgusting booger dried up on it. They have such a potential to be amazing if only they improve their hygiene and cleanliness. And a standing fan in the hot days won’t be that bad either. They don’t have ac and was asked to just open the windows but it was so noisy late into the night and early morning.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. But in the three days we were there, the internet was not functioning despite attempts by the staff to fix the problem.

The Kasererbräu was the perfect location for exploring Salzburg. It was close to all major landmarks and public transportation. Our room had a balcony and it was such a treat to sit there first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I’d definitely stay here again.

Great location in the historic area of Salzburg. Just a few minutes walk to main attractions for culture, shopping and dining.
We stayed in two different rooms as we extended our stay by one night. Typical of European accommodation- somewhat smaller than North American rooms. Breakfast - not included - was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location. A little bit noisy on the room looking out to the walking street but that’s to be expected. Biggest complaint was that there was no charger next to the bed on either side and only 2 in the room and 1 unoccupied in the bathroom.

Beautiful historic building from 1342! Close to the fortress, Dom and lots of shopping and restaurants. We found it easy to walk to all the historic sites. Breakfast was good and very convenient. The staff was wonderfully helpful and also spoke English.

Great staff and loved the historical hotel. A little tight in the room but clean and comfy. Great location. While there's not a bar in the hotel, you can get beer and wine in the lobby. Attached Italian restaurant was very good.

The front desk was friendly and helpful. Hotel has a built in theater, perfect for a rainy day evening. Location is great, a short walk to everything!
Breakfast is included in out stay and food choices are decent. However, the waitress was so rude to me, an Asian, she didn’t greet me but picked me among 8-10 persons at the buffet tables to ask “what’s your room number “ after I’ve told her, she still looked suspicious, made me feel uncomfortable. When I sat down to eat, she came straight to me again, asking me my room number. When she passed other tables around us, she was nice greeting everyone “good morning “ or asking if they needed anything. Guess what, 2nd morning, she was after me again, with the look that I might sneaked in to ear breakfast for free, “what’s your room number”!!! Same behaviors to others- everyone else is non-Asian thus no need to check their room numbers but me! I’m very disappointed! What’s the heck?
