The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. The hotel was immaculately presente clean and comfortable. The room was well furnished and also comfortable if not a little small as we were there for only one night it wasn’t an issue.

The William Cecil offers a fabulous stay within Stamford right on the edge of the Burleigh estate. The hotel itself is a very old building that has been transformed into a comfortable stay location for guests and events alike. The staff could not be more accommodating to the needs of their guests, to the extent where the manager lent my wife his own personal umbrella to head into town during a rain shower. Overall an excellent stay and we would definitely return again should we visit Stamford onceoree in the future

Unfortunately, we were situated in an area of the hotel that was being renovated. The room was very small with uneven floors. The fan provided was broken and there wasn't enough plugs to run the fridge, fan and coffee. The service provided was good. the food served was delicious. For the price we paid I felt it was very over priced for the quality of the room. I have stayed in mecures and Premier Inns for a lot less and the quality of rooms were better.

Overnight stay in Stamford. We were slightly apprehensive due to some of the reviews but our experience was really good. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Our room was lovely with a huge bed and a deep free standing bath. Breakfast was great…… what’s not to like? We will definitely stay here again👍👍

A nice weekend break. Service was excellent and we enjoyed the breakfast. The only negative was the room - a bit too small, particularly the bathroom. Otherwise a decent hotel.

Was slightly disappointed with the comfort this stay. Issues with bedstead corners in small space (caught legs several times). Had to ask staff to turn off overheated towel rail in bathroom (it wasn't apparent). Ropey taps and large shower head didn't make showering easy. Needed the fan (it was very warm) which was efficient, but very noisy. Road noise more bothersome this visit.

Lovely historic hotel which still has some of the original features.
Room was a good size, but needed a repaint. At back of hotel with no view out of the window. Disappointing for £161 per night.
Excellent quality bath towels.
One or two if the staff needed a bit more training. Very rushed and not particularly interested in you as a guest.

Over all, a very pleasant stay. The public areas were very nice. Excellent parking. Great service and friendly staff.
The food was very good
The hot water in the shower wasn't hot.
The bathroom towel rail however was hot and was on all of the time.
Not the end of the world, but enough to take it down to a 4/5 review . Pity.

I did not rate this hotel, my room was super dusty causing me breathing problems during the night due to my allergies. I paid close to £140 for 1 night here and the price did not reflect the service, cleanliness and facilities. I had a full english breakfast which was nice however it didn't come with beans which I thought was strange, I checked out and handed the key to a lady at reception only to receive a call a few hours later telling me I hadn't handed the key back and they wanted to charge me £50. I wont be staying here again unfortunately.

Great hotel in a lovely location within walking distance of everything in Stamford. We had booked a Cosy Room which was on the small side but was perfectly comfortable for our one-night stay. It had a lovely view out over the gardens, and was well-equipped with a small fridge and a kettle. There were also delicious cookies in the room on our arrival. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of hot food which is cooked to order; we were able to eat it outside as the weather was so warm. The hotel has very pretty gardens and a large car park. Staff were polite and efficient. We ill definitely stay here the next time we are in Stamford.

Everything was lovely, especially he food. My issue was that I couldn’t stand up fully in the bedroom and had I tilt my head one side to move around the room. All else was great

An absolutely amazing nights stay, the bed was incredibly comfy and we slept like a log. The staff were very attentive, one slight criticism was they need more staff as when we went to the bar we were waiting for quite a while to be attended to. Their sister bar restaurant down the road we left after 20 minutes, the waiter took my drink order while my wife was choosing, 20 minutes later and nothing. So sadly they lost out on our food and drinks order.

Good one night stayy with very good breakfast. A bit if extra cleaning (eg, behind bedside tables) might not go amiss

Very tired hotel, and the room was awful. Worse hotel I’ve stayed in

Lovely hotel in a beautiful town. Our room was £163 (members price ) and our room was tiny ! Low ceilings and I couldn’t stand up straight in the room. So small no wardrobe would fit in which is inconvenient as nowhere to hang clothes. In the bathroom you could not sit up in the bath because of the height and slope of the roofline. So think £163 very expensive.
Nice coffee tea & cookies in the room and nice toiletries.
Good breakfast and lovely friendly and helpful staff.
Generally very nice hotel for one night but any longer and I would want a different room and look for more value for my money.

Had a lovely stay, staff friendly & helpful, waitress Helena is always friendly & helpful, this is our third visit here. The only issue is there appears to be quite a lot of people who park up to take their dogs for a walk, which when we got back middle of the day we had trouble parking.

We loved our stay here, room very clean, bed comfortable, radio on when we walked in nice touch , staff friendly, breakfast outstanding .

Very dissappointed with overall look of room. Absolutely no soft furnishings or pictures on the wall. I would describe the room as "stark" . Heated towel rail did not work. Carpet out side of room heavily stained.
It was explained that the hotel was under new management and that not all rooms had been fully refurbished. Therefore this expensive room should have been let a discounted rate.
Staff were pleasent enough.

I had a lovely night in the hotel; the staff were excellent, and the drinks prices were very reasonable. It is just a short walk to get to the town centre. I didn't try any food, but what I did see coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. I was in an attic room which was very cosy, the heating worked well. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff were delightful. The food was good.
The attic room was very poor, for several reasons.
Unsuitable furniture leaving s choice of either banging ones shins on the bed legs or banging ons head on the sloping ceiling (and I am only 5'2"!)
Not enough power points and too many gadgets. Who needs a coffee machine (which I could not get to work) when there is a perfectly good kettle and they have coffee bags)? The room was also quite cold and the duvet thin, although as it was a king size one I was able to fold in two, thank goodness. I also had trouble with fi-fi the first day.

For an Executive room the standard was poor one window didn’t close properly the bathroom smelt of drains and there were dead fly’s on the window sill/ floor on arrival which were still there after our two night stay
2.0 / 10.0
Disappointed with our stay. Superior room had tired & dated bathroom, lacklustre finish to room which was also very noisy from road traffic. Oh & nearly forgot to mention the tv which had no programmed channels & an alarm that went off at 3am. The restaurant we would have eaten in, but at 7.15pm they stated couldn’t take our order for 40 minutes as the large party in front had not yet ordered, yet we were ready to place & only a couple. Wouldn’t recommend.

Modern facilities within characterful old buildings just on the edge of the town centre - easy walk to all amenities, including the station. Quiet if your room faces away from the road.

Have stayed here before but this time the guests played second fiddle to the wedding party. One of our meal at dinner was satisfactory, but the second was minimalist in the extreme. Breakfast and parking were good!

Great location. This property is very well looked after. If anybody plans his wedding, this would be the perfect place. The food which is served here is just delicious! We travelled as a couple with a well behavied dog and the whole staff was so welcoming and friendly. We only can recommend this place

Great location. Friendly staff. Great service. Quiet room even though overlooked the front and the main road. Comfortable bed.

Booked two rooms for a two night weekend family event. Both rooms were a little tired and would benefit from a good deep clean. The corridor leading to our superior room also had paint peeling from the wall - not a great first impression after check in.
Breakfast was good, but we were made to feel like we were inconveniencing the waitress with our meal and coffee orders.
Overall this is a good hotel, that with a few bits of housekeeping and a bit more "service with a smile" would easily be a great hotel.

Awful stay.
Our room was exceptionally hot and the window did not open.
We could not find the hair dryer and it turned out it was on the floor in the cupboard.
A man walked into a room in the morning without warning! When reception was questioned they said we were put in the wrong room so staff were not expecting us in that room.
Such a disappointing stay.
