We were in downtown Buffalo for an event and we chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to the event. The hotel was beautiful and our room was lovely. We didn't hear traffics noise or sounds from inside the hotel. The bed was so comfortable and I had wished we were staying another night just so I could sleep in it one more time.
Our only complaints were that our fireplace didn't work and the bathroom door was a barn door setup but there was a large gap when it was closed. I was going to report the fireplace to the front desk, but no one was there when we left for our event (or when we returned).
I would recommend this hotel.

Optimistically, this once grand hotel is gradually making a comeback. However, it still has a way to go, similar to this area of downtown Buffalo. Nonetheless, we enjoyed a peak into the past, that will hopefully bode well for the future.

It was a horrible place, we told the desk clerk we were leaving after seeing the smelly room and we ended up with no refund so I was traumatized on my birthday trip. I am now 73.
4.3
We stayed in Buffalo to go to a Bills game. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Stairs leading to the bathroom was a bit different but we enjoyed our stay.

Will definitely recommend to friends

Beautiful building. Shower was not working properly. No parking on site, had to park two blocks away. No food when cafe next door isn't open.

Check in was awful. The staff was not coming or trying to accommodate. We arrived early and we understand check in was at 3. She said she would call housekeeping to get an idea and told us to sit. 45 min later no response from her and I approached her to say can you store our bags. She could have just told us it wasn’t possible so we could have walked around or got lunch.
Then I arrived at 3:10 to check in. I saw a couple in front of me get their key cards. I am next and the staff says my room isn’t ready. I ask why. Silence. Then another couple checks in in front of me. My room is still not ready. I ask for my luggage and if it’s ok to check in somewhere else and if I can get a refund. Silence. I ask for a manage he hands me a business card. I ask if there is any room available and I will pay extra. He says he can check. Why didn’t he try to do that instead of me offering choices. I apologize for being mean to him but it was the most frustrating experience.

The hotel was nice. But I had an issue with the staff. My toilet didn't work and i found this out at 9:30 pm so I called the desk and asked to have it fixed or.to swich rooms and the lady at the desk told me there was no one in who can fix it lt and there were no open rooms. 15 minutes later i got a call from the front desk saying they had a room. My issue was being lied to at first. Toilets break but lies are not ok.

The air conditioning didn’t cool the room enough and there were stains on the carpet. Overall the room was clean but felt a little clammy because of the air conditioning.
4.3
Hotel lobby is bleak- poor lighting. Mattress needs to be replaced - severe breakdown on 1 side. No door on the shower. Consequently the water was all over the floor in the sink area. There were 2 steps to get into the bathroom area. Hotel is very quiet. Good location for downtown activities.
4.3
Price was great. It is an old hotel with older amenities. Clean. Parking was a block away but reasonable. I gave it a 3 star rating because it is simply an older hotel that has seen better days.

Great historic hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

This very unique property was an excellent stay. The staff is excellent & very friendly. There are a couple of things to consider when booking but did not affect my stay. This hotel has only one bed per room - either a queen or king. The parking is in a public garage a block away. The great Brew Pub that was next door is now closed. We were looking for a hotel with reasonable prices so as to ride share to a concert at the Terminal B Outer Harbor. Our junior suites were huge rooms with eclectic decor. All the standard amenities and min fridge. An electric fireplace made the room feel cozy. 2 flatscreen TVs. The bathroom was huge with separate toilet area and a walk in shower and tub. Everything was very clean. The king bed was a little too soft for me but comfortable overall. Check out the history of this place. a great stay.

Wonderful and charming hotel with lots of history. Updated rooms. Even though the hotel was full we didn’t wait for anything nor did we even see other people! Convenient to downtown Buffalo
4.3
Staff and property were great. My only complaint would be that there was no refrigerator or microwave in my room.
4.3
Close to everything we needed.

Downtown Buffalo is quiet on a weekend but there are quite a few nice restaurants and attractions available within walking distance. If you’re interested in architecture, the Lafayette has an interesting backstory.
4.3
It is an interesting old building that was once incredible. It's still ok but the cleaning is awful. Literally watched the cleaning man just walk around spraying strong smelling cleaner from a bottle and pretending to be cleaning. The place smelled dirty covered with perfume lol. Other than that it was fine.
4.3
The smell in the hallway was unbearable, most of the property was severely outdated. They renovated the rooms and then put old nasty furniture in there. Area around did not seem safe especially walking from the parking garage at night.
4.3
The building is very unique and the architecture is beautiful. The area around the hotel is a little unsafe at night. Also, there is no parking other than street parking (staff told me it isn’t the safest to park on the street) or a garage a block away but then you have to walk at night.
4.3
Staff was great, beautiful architecture and decor, room was huge for the price and very unique
4.3
A nicely restored Art Deco Hotel in downtown Buffalo. The room was very clean and beds comfortable. The public areas show their age in places--some banged up woodwork and floor tiles missing--but overall this is a great place to stay at a reasonable price. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the coffee shop downstairs is one of the best in town.

Great stay
4.3
This property is very tired. There have been attempts at room upgrades but our room upgrades were sloppy and stained. Very disappointed for the money spent.
4.3
The room was fine, not super clean so if you're picky on that I would say to skip this place. Convenience and price were the biggest perks of this property (we were attending a show at KeyBank Center and it was a quick/easy 10-minute walk to and from the venue). We could literally hear every step the people above us took and the doors are super heavy in the rooms so we could hear those slamming through the night as well. The room was fairly updated and had all we needed for a one night stay. Overall, it was worth the price but it could be nicer.
4.3
Wifi service was not available in our room, only in lobby.
4.3
It was a comfortable place to stay in an intriguing place. Personally, my view was horrible--facing other windows--thus had to keep my curtains closed for privacy, but I can't speak for the other rooms. There seemed to be a lot of rules--no not a place to stay if you want to entertain/be free--but if just to sleep here--sure why not.
4.3
Very old property. Beautiful architecture but dated. We both needed to work remotely but NO WiFi. Front desk blamed Spectrum & gave a $50 bill credit. Wouldn’t recommend staying here with all the options nearby.
4.3
I ran the full marathon that weekend so the hotel was close and convenient

This was one of the worst hotel we ever stayed in , a motel
Might have been better , front desk first night was good , 2nd night when we went to complain , guy ignored us, kept answering the phone instead of asking us anything , guests came in and refused to be checked in after they saw how dirty the lobby is , room was dark and damp and super tight , random furniture pieces , looks a like a 1st grader designed it , every night we were depressed to go back to our hotel , tv was super small size , it was positioned so badly , it was positioned at the side of the bed , and no sofa , how can you watch tv ? You can hear people in the hallway as they walk by , place over all is old and depressing, colors are gothic and lively , more like a dungeon , this was a trash , we overpayed , expected something great and was very dissatisfied

Close to the bus terminal

So easy to ride the light rail to great breweries, food and canal. Coffee shop had great coffee and food for an easy relaxed breakfast. Beautiful architecture all around, loved it!!!
4.3
We had a great stay at this property. We were going to a baseball game and it was close to the stadium.
My wife found the bed to be comfortable, I didn't.
Service was awesome and the building is beautiful.
Everything (convenience stores, fast food) closes early (around 9pm) so we had a tough time finding food after the ball game.

Cool historic hote

Nice room and convenient location. Clean and the room was well equipped. WiFi was not working and minor maintenance issues in room (no coffee, lamp not working, wall clock not working). I would stay again
4.3
The room seemed clean Furniture was worn no doors on the shower water getting everywhere staff was very unhelpful would not help with any of the information on the app that they have would not go there again only good point close to venue KeyBank Center no parking have to go to a parking ramp a block away not sure of the price depends on what's going on at the time overall experience not so goodDefinitely not worth the money the app makes it look fancy when you get there it looks run down
4.3
We loved our stay. We were in town for a concert at Key Bank and it was so convenient to walk there and back! Comfy bed and sooo quiet. We will be back.
4.3
Beautiful old building, everything looked very nice. Noticed some damage on the bathroom door and the toilet seat, but other than that it was an excellent stay.
4.3
Loved everything about it, except that it did not have a bar. Will check and see if there’s a bar before booking again.
