Comfortable and nice atmosphere. Bar staff were very friendly and welcoming. Bedroom was lovely but a couple of housekeeping issues and on the last morning the cold water stopped working. We didn't have breakfast as we were short on time and it cost £24. It would have been nice to have a cheaper continental option for those in a rush.

We booked a Classic room which I believe are the designated rooms when bringing a dog. These rooms (3 in row) were in a small courtyard area inside the hotel & each had an outdoor seating area which was nice, although we didn’t use them given Nov & 2 night stay. There was also an undercover seating area, which i believe was linked more so to the meeting room which led out into courtyard. Can imagine in warmer weather might be bit noisy but a sign did stipulate 11pm was latest that the area could be used.
Room was pretty clean tbf (I say that as often rooms which allow dogs can be less than desirable) and included a dog mat/bed & water bowl. Can imagine room gets hot in summer and was even the case in Nov. There was an aircon panel but this didn’t seem to be working (some hotels I know deactivate this outside of summer periods). The bath rain shower was nice but did drip during the night so we had to close batrm door.
£25pn night pet fee wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for hotels in area, but I question what this is meant to cover & maybe should be refundable if guest leaves room in a condition that ‘non-pet stay’ reg housekeeping usually covers. No sugar replaced for tea/coff which was a bit irritating to request.
Parking is premium in Cambridge and consd park&ride but this comes at cost if staying onight so we parked in Princess Anne CP which cost £27 total (2 nights 3pm arr-11am dep) & 8min walk.
Overall we enjoyed our stay with our JRT dog & would rtn if £ was right.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. There are some things of note. The first is that if you arrive early like we did ask the receptionist to see if they can show you what rooms they have available we were asked to look at 3 rooms and were able to choose. We very happily did this and were very happy with our choice. Had we be left with one of the other two we wouldn’t have been happy with either. The first was stuffy the other smelt odd? The other thing to note is that don’t have meals at the hotel. There is never anybody eating there. The first time we stayed we had an awful breakfast experience. We were not going to repeat this. So for breakfast and evening meals we recommend you eat out. There are lots of restaurants that cater for all diets just down the road so advice is choose one of these. Lastly, the hotel does seem a little tired in terms of overall fabric. The reception staff are very helpful and willing and kind this hotel is a one or two night stay but needs to think about completely overhauling the restaurant and food facilities and also maybe reducing the price for a stay. If you the put these changes together with the excellent reception staff this hotel could be great. So at present we would give it 3 stars. It could be 4 -5 because of the staff but they need a better hotel to be truly proud of. Lastly we will stay here again I’m sure in the future. I really hope that the next stay these things may have changed.

The staff in Hotel du Vin in Cambridge are incredible. I have to mention two lovely members of staff who I met when I checked in and then when I left the following day; Kai and Habiba. They couldn’t have been more helpful or kind. The hotel is fabulous and I would return without a doubt. The room was exquisite, with a roll top bath and lovely toiletries. The location was perfect. I had a wonderful experience staying there.

The location is excellent, everything is within walking distance and it's a quiet neighbourhood. I was, however, perhaps expecting a little bit more from a four star hotel. Certain surfaces in my room carried a layer of dust, it was strange that the toilet cubicle didn't have its own lighting, you had to have the main lights on to have light in the toilet and whilst I didn't have a tape measure with me the bed seemed to be a normal double when a queen or king was advertised. Might just have been my perception though. The staff were excellent, friendly and professional and the cellar bar was quaint and cosy. Breakfast was ok without, in my opinion, being 4* standard. My muffin was slightly over toasted, could have sent it back I know but had already waited some time and didn't want to wait any longer. Overall more 3* than 4* but definitely a four star price. If I stay in Cambridge again I'm likely to consider other options. Shame because the location, decor, and staff are all excellent. Just needs a little more attention to detail.

I didn’t like the fact that our room was left uncleaned twice. Lazy!

Wonderful boutique hotel and bistro/restaurant. Very comfortable bed, excellent breakfast choices, quiet yet convenient to downtown Cambridge - easy to walk there. Also wonderful mural in the reception area! Basement bar is inviting, with low ceiling and some small nooks of chairs and tables.

Enjoyed its location because walkable from the train station and the city centre; quiet too! It was a graduation weekend, so I had to manage the hotel’s price hike…. Breakfast package is top notch.

Honestly this Hotel du vin is simply perfect. Very stylish with amazing staff from the reception team, barman through to the wonderful bistro team. You all helped make my wife's birthday treat exceptional in every way. Most definitely coming back again soon.

The hotel was fine. The assistant manager was very friendly and kind during check-in. My issue was with the hotel restaurant - The Bistro. There was an aggressive server there (man) and quite rude upon checkout. We had dinner there and he added an extra donation surcharge without even asking and when I asked him why he added it without asking, he got annoyed and aggressive. Why are you adding charges without the customer's knowledge. I thought that was odd. Unfortunately, tt really turned me off to the whole experience. The next morning at breakfast he was there again and he recognized me. The man has an attitude for no good reason and perhaps he was having a bad day, but I cannot recommend that restaurant. The French food is subpar at best and the breakfast that I paid for was also mediocre. On top of that the rude service - no thanks.

Great location walkable from the train station. Very stylish interiors and great service. Comfortable bed and lots of little freebies in the room (tiny cookies, tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water). Room was gorgeous with a good TV, iron and ironing board, electric fan and hairdryer. Little window seat and blackout curtains. Bathroom had L’Occitane toiletries, an over bath shower and a deep bath. Loved it all. Watch out for some uneven floors in the corridors and an unexpected step in the bathrooms by the bar, all signposted - I just didn’t pay attention!

I’ve stayed in these hotels for years but the brand needs updating and hotels really need a good freshen up. Everything just felt old and grimy.

Great Points:
- Location: Fantastic. Walkable to almost everywhere in Cambridge, making it incredibly convenient.
- Comfort: The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and my room at the back of the hotel was quiet, ensuring a restful night.
- Staff: The staff were friendly and accommodating, adding a warm touch to the stay.
Areas for Improvement:
- Room Decor: Some elements were a bit worn out, like scratches and dents on the desk, and scum around the sink hole.
- Hotel Front: The front of the hotel needed attention; flags were tatty, flowerpots were empty and filled with rubbish and cigarette butts.
• Breakfast: Breakfast was average and didn’t offer good value for money. The service was also inconsistent, with friendly staff one moment and indifferent the next.
- Bar Cleanliness: The bar downstairs was not well-looked after, with tables cluttered with empty glasses, rubbish, and even a Pret bag.
Overall, while the hotel has some great aspects, it could benefit from attention to detail and improved maintenance. Is there a GM?

Stair carpet looked like it needed vacuuming. Shower didn’t work and took a bit too long to arrange for us to go to the top of the hotel to shower before returning to room. Meant we were last into breakfast and could not regain that time for our mini break.
Breakfast was not buffet and things on display were very limited and not appetising. Juices were concentrated (carton) rather than fresh and bread for toast was supermarket packaged sliced white and brown. For £22 a head, that is not acceptable. Not really what we would expect from such an expensive hotel. Others in the area are much better value.
Disappointed as had wanted to stay here for a while.

Very central and excellent food. Good service too.
BUT locks on bedroom doors are very noisy and echoes in the corridors. Won't stay there again because of this.

Since we walked in, the staff were very nice and friendly. Rooms are spacious and great. Only things I could say are “inconveniences” are: The A/C was not working properly, room was a bit warm and the tub is very high. Other then that it is an excellent place to stay. I would definitely come back to Cambridge and stay here.

Room was superb (cinema room). Only very small gripe were really soft pillows, be nice to have a choice. Hotel was lovely, a real gem. My only negative comment was breakfast on sunday morning. One of the front house staff arrived late so only one person serving, taking orders, replenishing and everything else. He was run ragged until the other guy showed up. We understood and so did others however it wasnt as nice as it should have been. Quality of food at bistro was excellent, for dinner we both had salmon to start then sausages and hake for mains. Was superb!!! Will return

Wish there had been some parking spaces available

Room was excellent, the building old and combination of previously separate houses so not unreasonably narrow passageways and mildly up and down.
