Very friendly, helpful, and solicitous staff throughout the whole stay. The hotel is not really walking distance from the train station if you have any baggage. The sidewalks are asphalt and we both broke luggage wheels on the walk. The ryokan is in a quieter part of town, which can be good or bad depending on your desires. The facility itself is a little dated but clean and the staff is really so kind. The rooms were well-sized and the amenities sufficient. The tatami mats smell amazing, which is something I hadn't considered! We had the kaiseki dinner and also breakfast which were elaborate and full of interesting and new food items we hadn't had before. Again, this can be good or bad depending on your spirit of adventure. We utilized the onsen, which was clean and useful.
If you are seeking a ryokan in Kyoto, I would recommend this one.

Fantastic ryokan. The staff has a really good English and everyone was nice to us. There is a little shop in front of the front desk and free coffee (If my mind is not fooling me). The room was exceptional, had a nice view and futons. Bathroom was great and separated from toilets. There is a tatoo friendly onsen on top floor open until 12 am. The gaiseki was amazing, the chef explained to us how to eat every dish in English and was fun.

Great experience. We wanted stay in Kyoto so this was a good ryokan option. Wonderful dining experience

Great traditional ryokan. If you want a gentle introduction to Japanese inns while in Kyoto city centre, you cannot go wrong with this one. We did n't manage to try the public bath, but room and service were excellent.
Location is pretty good. There are a number of local "drinking holes" towards the station and a very popular ramen joint just a couple of blocks from the hotel (same street). We walked to the major Kyoto attractions although this might longer than others might willing to walk.
4.5
Incredible staff that are so friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door to the second you leave. We did meals with them that and had a great explanation of everything as well.

This is a pretty traditional ryokan. It’s pretty basic room and amenities. Spacious room with a nice and clean bathroom which is a must. If you’re looking for an average ryokan experience, you will get it. Definitely delivers for the price.

A great experience I had in Ryokan and the crew was very nice, friendly and excellent location.

The place was great. Best thing was the staff. They were so nice and accommodating. I was late for my check in but the staff helped me by waiting to still serve me dinner when I got there. They were waiting out front for me and helped me out all with everything. They were the nicest people. The facilities were great too. Food was delicious. The room was lovely. The onsen was relaxing. I'm very happy with my stay there.

I was so amazed by how friendly the staff was to me and my family! Great rooms! Amazing food! Best location! I read the reviews before booking so I felt confident in my stay however they beat my expectations! I will recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kyoto! I will be back - see you next year!
Thank you so much for the hospitality :)

Excellent traditional Ryokan, half board dinner and breakfast was excellent quality and a lovely experience. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel was lovely! Relaxing in the public bath after a long day seeing the sights was our highlight. The staff was friendly, helpful, and thorough explaining the property and more traditional Japanese elements. We would absolutely recommend this property and will stay again on our next trip.

Very clean and comfortable stay. If want a ryokan experience, this is a good place to stay.
However, do note that Kyoto station though walkable, is quite a distance if you don’t take a bus nearby. After a long day out, you will find walking a bit more is a drag.
Didn’t get to experience their breakfast as they could not accommodate at arrival (fully booked).
Our overall was generally very good. Try it to experience tatami style rooms.

Good experience overall

Excellent stay!

Loved the staff and the quietness in the stay. Though there are buses in the vicinity, some may not allow luggages onboard. But they are great for traversing to Kyoto's highlights.
4.5
A unique Japanese experience at a ryokan hotel. Our room was so clean and spacious. The selling point is their top notch customer service and hospitality. The hotel was generous with the amenities as well. We will come back.
4.5
Super nice and friendly staff! Loved the traditional room with tataki mats, and with a dedicated area to enjoy some tea and the view! The kaiseki meals were amazing, it was like eating small art pieces! And you can wear japanese yukata while you are moving around in the ryokan! They also had an open bath at the top floor, which was really warm and relaxing~! Would love to come back! ^^

Extremely friendly and service minded.
The rooms were nice and the food very god.
We enjoyed the bath.

We booked the traditional style ryokan room, and loved it! I know some westerners might scoff at the mat style bedding in those rooms but they do warn you before you book, and I happened to find it quite charming and comfortable. Staff were so welcoming and the location is a five minute walk to a train station. Lovely hotel and our room was beautiful.
4.5
Friendly welcoming staff! Nice clean rooms! Does not offer dinner in the rooms.
4.5
Staff during the kaiseki meals were great. Explained all the dishes and how to eat them in english. Delivery of courses was timely.
The 8 tatami mat room was cozy. Had a dedicated sitting area to enjoy tea by the window. Aircon and air filter worked well. The only inconvenience is that the sink is on the opposite side of the room from the bathroom.
The onsen was not crowded at all on a Tuesday night.
Overall, an enjoyable one night stay for a couple.

Staff were amazing and made sure we were very comfortable. Super clean place and the Onsen was great. Unique food for breakfast and dinner. 10/10 stay.

Stayed for one night here. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and had good amenities. The onsen (bath) at the 6th floor was very nice and had good water temperature, not too hot but pleasantly warm.
The kaiseki dinner and breakfast chef was super friendly and spoke good English too - he explained what each dish was clearly.
I highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Kyoto.

Our family of 4 very much enjoyed our stay at Ryokufuso. The meals were excellent and the staff attentive and friendly. We used the onsen bath every night of our stay. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We would highly recommend this hotel for a welcoming Japanese experience.

By far my favorite experience in Japan thus far! The service, fantastic. The staff, incredibly friendly and accomodating. The food, incredible! Thank you so much to Yuka san, Ryuji san, and staff for the incredible experience! Would highly recommend!

Amazing stay! The staff was uktra nice and helpful in every possible way. Their english was good too. Gave us maps made calls, even taught how to use yakatas. Room was very well ryokan made and roomy. Had tea and sweets for us. Bathroom was new and sharp clean. The ryokan feeling was fantastic w comfy futons. I would totally recommend to anyone. Bike rental is abt 4 blocksand they have another company they can arrange one for you. Bus to kyoto station stops in front of hotel but nearesteyro is abt 5 blocks away. This neighborhood is peaceful so you have to bus or metro to the touristy area if you want to be in the action, something to consider regarding location.

First time staying at a Ryokan and it exceeded all my expectations.

Stayed with our two boys and had a wonderful authentic feeling experience. The room had yakatas which we wore to dinner. It was fun to see everyone in the dining room dressed authentically. The dinner was 8 courses of amazing food we would have never been exposed to elsewhere. The room was covered in tatami mats with mattress pads on the floor. There was a TV but we were having so much fun in the room that we never watched it. I had the onsen to myself. It was so hot that I couldn’t sit in it very long. There was tea and broth to make in the room.
The experience was full on Japanese Ryoken style that we will enjoy talking about for years. It was a great value for the huge dinner and breakfast that is included plus the onsen experience. I am so glad I selected this property.

The staff was absolutely amazing at the ryokan! They greeted us at the door & explained everything to us and were so kind. Highly recommend this property for an authentic Japanese stay. Very cute and comfortable rooms.

Only need to adjust is the wifi signal is very low.

I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful my stay at Ryokufuso was!! The staff are all extremely professional, friendly, and welcoming. In all my years of traveling, this hotel was undoubtedly the most impressive. On top of the wonderful staff, the accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. I also decided to do the dining experience and it was a delicious 5-course meal served in a lovely private room. Every part of my stay was the best I've ever experienced. I don't often leave reviews, but felt that I needed to let the world know just how much I enjoyed and appreciated my stay at Ryokufuso! I recommend it with my fullest confidence!

It great in terms of facilities, but what I really loved about the place were the staff they helped us during our stay so much at one point my kimono ripped and one of the staff noticed they said they would sew it for me
